Firearms NEW Barrels I need to sell-6mm, 7mm, .30, .375, 416

There is a long story behind why I have all these, but I will skip to the chase. The match barrels I have listed here are from 400+ barrels that were shipped to Hall of Fame shooter and gunsmith Speedy Gonzales, who pin mic'ed and graded all the barrels, and kept back the best barrels. They fire sold the less than perfect barrels. These were for F-Class Team Grizzly, and barrels from this bunch broke a world record and won the FL state championships as well as a lot of other matches 9 years ago. The man who these belong to exited F-Class shooting, and they stayed in his climate controlled garage until now. This is what is left, along with several barrels that Speedy was going to use to build hunting rifles with. Speedy also did all the threading and chambering on the barrels that have been completed. Because barrels are heavy and awkward to ship, you tell me how many and where to, and I will get the commercial shipping price to add to these prices.

Small Rumblings?. . . .

Anybody remember who this 106yr old character is?

Mother-Abigail-stephen-king-the-stand-39875872-431-500.jpg

Anybody remember her sitting on the porch next to the edge of that corn field and saying "Storm's a coming."?

Most storms start with just a trickle or light mist then evolve into something large and out of control.
I am worried that we are already starting to see the light mist.

Sure hope I am proved wrong.
I would love nothing better than to come back here in 24 months and say Yep, I was full of shit and worried about nothing.

Maggie’s Anyone have an old bugle they don’t want?

Many years ago I used to play taps and reveille on bugle at camp. I have fond memories of that but have not owned a bugle in a long time. I’d like to do it again, but have no desire to buy a shiny new or overpriced relic bugle. Just an old dented and tarnished one that I can afford is about right.

Brigadier General Daniel Butterfield

“The tune is a variation of an earlier bugle call known as the "Scott Tattoo", which was used in the U.S. from 1835 until 1860.[8][9] It was arranged in its present form by the Union ArmyBrigadier General Daniel Butterfield, a Medal of Honor recipient.[2] Butterfield commanded the 3d Brigade, 1st Division, V Army Corps, Army of the Potomac[2] while at Harrison's Landing, Virginia[2] in July 1862,[2] and wrote it to replace the customary firing of three rifle volleys at the end of burials during battle.[2] Butterfield's version in July 1862 replaced a previous French bugle call used to signal "lights out". Butterfield's bugler, Oliver Wilcox Norton,[10][2] of East Springfield, Pennsylvania,[11] was the first to sound the new call.[2] Within months "Taps" was used by both Union and Confederate forces.[2] It was officially recognized by the United States Army in 1874.[12]

Captain John C. Tidball, West Point Class of 1848, started the custom of playing "Taps" at military funerals. In early July 1862 at Harrison's Landing, a corporal of Tidball's Battery A, 2nd U.S. Artillery, died[who?]. He was, Tidball recalled later, "a most excellent man". Tidball wished to bury him with full military honors, but, for military reasons, he was refused permission to fire seven rifles three times (‘three volley’ or ‘twenty-one gun’ salute) over the grave. Tidball later wrote, "The thought suggested itself to me to sound taps instead, which I did. The idea was taken up by others, until in a short time it was adopted by the entire army and is now looked upon as the most appropriate and touching part of a military funeral." As Tidball proudly proclaimed, "Battery A has the honor of having introduced this custom into the service, and it is worthy of historical note."[13]

It became a standard component to U.S. military funerals in 1891.“

Ron Unz - Everything you know about WW2 is wrong

https://www.unz.com/runz/why-everything-you-know-about-world-war-ii-is-wrong/

An extensively referenced argument that everything you’ve learned about major elements of World War 2 is wrong. Pearl Harbor, Post War Europe, Holocaust, Hitler, the Soviet Union, FDR, etc.

Pretty compelling.

The implications on the intervening 80 years since 1945 are huge.

Boeing Claims It Will Be Ready for Pilotless Air-Taxi Flights by End of Decade.

Boeing-owned Wisk Aero is making strides towards introducing autonomous air-taxis, with plans to commence passenger flights “later in the decade” as it collaborates with U.S. regulators for necessary approvals.
Reuters reports that Wisk Aero, a subsidiary of Boeing, is at the forefront of developing electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, aiming to revolutionize urban transportation with its autonomous air-taxis. The company’s CEO, Brian Yutko, announced at the Farnborough Airshow that Wisk is currently in the process of testing and producing components for their aircraft, with hopes to conduct test flights by the end of this year.

The air-taxi industry has seen a surge in companies developing eVTOL aircraft in recent years, all promising to provide an eco-friendly alternative for travel in congested urban areas. However, the sector faces significant challenges, both technological and regulatory. One of the primary hurdles is the development of batteries powerful enough to enable multiple trips on a single charge, a crucial factor for operational efficiency and economic viability.

Wisk’s approach stands out in the industry due to its focus on fully autonomous four-seater aircraft with a projected range of 90 miles. This strategy diverges from other major air-taxi manufacturers who are developing piloted models. Wisk argues that their autonomous approach will lead to cost savings for operators by eliminating pilot expenses.

Despite the company’s optimism, industry analysts remain skeptical about the timeline for certification and widespread adoption of autonomous air-taxis. A report by Bain suggests that full autonomous passenger flights may not be realized until the late 2030s. The report also highlights potential competition from autonomous ground vehicles, which could impact the air-taxi market.

Regulatory hurdles present another significant challenge for Wisk and similar companies. Convincing regulators and the public of the safety of these aircraft is crucial, particularly for autonomous models. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will play a pivotal role in the approval process, and Wisk is actively working with the regulator to secure the necessary certifications.
The economic viability of air-taxi services is another area of focus. Mattia Celli, one of the authors of the Bain report, emphasizes the importance of maximizing passenger occupancy and avoiding empty return trips for operator profitability. These factors will be critical in determining the success of air-taxi services in the competitive urban mobility landscape.

Wisk’s journey began as a joint venture between Boeing and Kitty Hawk Corp before becoming a fully-owned subsidiary of Boeing last year. This backing from one of the world’s largest aerospace companies provides Wisk with significant resources and expertise as it navigates the complex path to bringing autonomous air-taxis to market.

Even as Boeing boasts of its pilotless air-taxi plans, it continues to have trouble building and maintaining traditional human-flown aircraft. The company recently pleaded guilty to fraud charges over the crashes of its infamous 737 MAX airliner.

300Blk At Distance

I was having a conversation with someone today about 300Blk and the conversation went to the distance a 300 Blackout could shoot effectively. The person I was talking to said beyond 300 yards they were useless. I have 5 different 300 Blackouts (building a 6th) and I have them setup for doing different things. Subs, Supers, Thermal setup for night shooting, scoped setup for day, etc. However I dont have one setup for distance. I shoot 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 and even 223 to distance.

So the question is really just a curiosity, Im not saying this is a good idea. Although its possibly not a terrible idea. What if someone built a 300Blk AR15 from the ground up where the primary purpose was to shoot distance with supers. I realize if I say effectively that would be subjective but I dont mean artillery shots. I mean how far can 300Blk shoot and stay supersonic? All adjustment done via dialing the scope (say around 60 MOAish max) not maxing the hold of the reticle and then dialing too. You might even take it hunting so whatever the distance is it still needs enough energy to kill a deer sized animal at this distance.
What Barrel length would be used? Twist rate? What bullet would be used? What powder, brass, primer? What brands of parts for the gun itself if you think that matters? How would you do it?

How far to you think the "optimal" setup could shoot effectively?

I have looked at ballistics and I have a guess but I wanted to post here and see what other think. I might even take one of my 300Blackouts, modify it a bit and give this a try just for the fun of it.

Thanks

Best ss zermatt origins pre-fit barrel for 6.5cm

Been dabbling with precision shooting with an ar15 build I did and I enjoy it so much that I'm going to venture into bolt gun precision shooting starting with a build bc I also enjoy that as well. I'm going with zermatt origins action in 6.5cm and want to know what some good stainless steel pre-fit barrels are and what the best contour is for long range precision shooting?
Also what are some good chassis?
Thanks,
Justin
