Kaboom! What should I do with this ammo?

Had a case split in two, primer was flat like a pancake, primer pocket is .003” over the primer size.

Story. Picked up 500 rounds of “reman” ammo couple years back. Have shot few dozen rounds fine.
Went to plink some of it the other day. Had a round click no bang. Extracted it and no mark on primer, tried that same round again and same thing. Set it aside and loaded a new round, gun worked fine.
Reinserted the bad round, didn’t seat fully, hit the forward assist and it locked in, aimed at target and it fired. But didn’t cycle normally, this partial case was stovepiped in the action, the front half of case was still in the chamber.
No injury, inspected gun, all is well.
AR-15 16” chrome lined barrel.
Carbine gas system.
Standard bcg

Label on box says
“223 REM A-max
Reman range grade”

Disassembled one, the bullet appears to be a vmax, it weighs 54.9 gr.

There is 26 grains of powder.
What does this powder look like?

Freak accident or should I ditch this ammo?
Or do something else?
Remanufacture the remans?

Thanks in advance!

SOLD Manners MCS-TCS

Selling my Manners MCS-TCS stock. The stock is in almost new condition. I purchased the stock last year from Altus and it’s got one trip to the range and one PRS match under its belt. The only noticeable wear is on the leading edge of the bottom metal, pic attached. It’s a great stock, the only reason I’m selling it is my MDT chassis just fits be better. Wiebad cheek pad is included with the stock. Asking $1400.

Firearms Wilson Combat Super Sniper 6.5CM

I’m new here, I’m attempting to thin out my collection in order to purchase some acreage. I have a couple good friends that have suggested I post some things on SH that will also get posted on the broker. I am more than willing to answer any questions, send pictures or videos, phone calls, texts, FaceTime etc.

Looking to sell my in brand new condition and never fired Wilson Combat 6.5 Creedmoor super sniper 20” threaded barrel, topped with a Pulsar Digex C50 day/night vision scope also in brand new never used condition sitting in badger ordinance QD rings. I have also installed a timney calvin elite drop in 1.5lb pull trigger, has an adjustable height bipod on it, I don’t recall the exact make or height range. I will include the Giselle trigger it came with from NRC industries. Rifle was purchased, accessories purchased and all installed and has been a safe Queen. Never had a round chambered nor one in the mag. I have a few Wilson’s and they’re butter smooth, the same trigger in other AR platform rifles, I cannot speak on this exact rifle because it has not been fired but I can say my WC308 with the same trigger and thermal has been absolutely flawless and quick as well as the WC458 ham’r, again same trigger.

I am willing to ship the rifle on my dime at full asking price in a hard case, will include the pulsar charger and single battery that comes with the scope. I have the original box for the scope, the rifle was shipped in a Wilson combat soft case that I would be willing to arrange shipping for as well. I also have quite a few 6.5CM varmint shells as well as match grade ammo for some other 6.5s I have if anybody was looking for an AR platform long range shooter. Would prefer not to seperate the scope from the rifle unless the rifle were to sell first, would really like to see it all go together. I only have 1 picture currently but can send more or videos upon request.

$5500, Venmo or zelle, FFL to FFL or if you’re in driving distance we can possibly meet face to face within a couple hours of Lancaster PA.

SOLD Remington 700 Action and Stock

Title says it all. A perfectly usable Remington 700 action with a .308 boltface that I’m parting out for a buddy. Few finish spots as shown in photos, a perfect donor to be blueprinted and coated, which is exactly what I intended to do for him but I just had a son 12 days ago and he just had one a few months back. This was on a carbon six barrel and a Stocky’s carbon stock and shot lights out for the few hundred rounds it was together. This is for the action ONLY.

Asking $450, shipped from individual to your FFL. More than welcome to speak on the phone, send photos, whatever to verify. I have a ton of feedback on here but I certainly don’t mind if you’d rather be safe than sorry.

Also selling the Stocky’s NextGen Ultra Carbon Hunter VG Vertical Grip Accublock for Remington 700. Bedded to the action and barrel channel slightly opened up to Proof Sendero. Asking $375, makes for a phenomenal lightweight hunter. This is cross posted on Rokslide.

Scope and barrel are NOT included.

And please for the love of God, I will not PM you or text your number I found from an old post. This is how people are getting scammed on here. PM me directly so you know you’re getting the right person.

Any Local Ghost Stories worth sharing?

I haven't come across this topic being discussed here so thought I'd start a thread on the subject. I'm personally a skeptic by all means but love a good local ghost story. For me- it's the history that builds up the reason for why an object, room, location, what have you, is 'haunted' because that's usually grounded in some part to factual history.

To start the discussion off- here's a story of my own. Decades ago when I was in High School- local legend surrounded a place called Amity Hall in Duncannon, PA. This building had so many stories surrounding it but from what I remember it was an old fashioned stop for the carriage lines at the time. Apparently being a hotel of sorts then, there was a lot of speculation of why it was shut down many years ago which conveniently checked all of the boxes for a young adolescent's mind of a place that was haunted. A defunct hotel- with murderous stories that alluded to a blood stained room, a ghost of a woman that hated men, locals that rivaled the hillbillies from the Deliverance movie, and even hellhounds that allegedly patrolled the grounds. Many a High School students tried to prove their bravery at that time by stepping foot in that building but apparently the building burnt down about 15-20 years ago.

I reckon that it's not so much the authenticity of 'ghosts' but would imagine that these type of stories perpetuate all across the country if not world and thought it'd make for a good thread sharing those local legends. Any interest?

Best Plan for Keeping a Suppressed AR as Clean as Possible( For as Many Rounds as Possible)

I have a pile of small frame gas guns and I shoot them suppressed almost always. I can take a freshly cleaned gun out and shoot 80 rounds through it and the BCG, upper receiver, buffer tube, FCG are all trashed, super filthy. I have been using Shooter's Choice FP-10 for a few years now, and I am a bit of an over-oiler, I guess. Everything is gummy and black as soot. I shoot a lot of LC M193 and some IMI 77gr. and Black Hills 77 OTM. Any meaningful ways to slow down the fouling? Suppressor is a Surefire RC-2, and all guns are DI.

Carl @ ugly reloading 👍👍

Ordered a primer seater and some goodies few weeks ago, seater showed backordered so I figured it’d be a bit. Looked and I saw in stock but no shipping. Called him, he looked it up and said it showed shipped, that he did it all himself and a glitch happened and he wasn’t sure how but it hadn’t. He admitted fault and was VERY apologetic and said he’d get it done asap. Within minutes he called back and asked what I might could need to throw in extra. I said no worries but he insisted. Within 30 minutes I had tracking. In a day where folks deny deny deny it was refreshing for someone to own up, apologize then go above and beyond. Folks I like giving my business and hard earned $$. Most posts share an opposite experience, I wanted to share something good.

Thermal Scope vs Clip on

Just wondering what the typical engagement distance is for thermal predator hunting for most? During the day here we typically shoot them anywhere between 50 m and 200 m.

I'm trying to decide between putting a clip on in front of an LVPO or running a dedicated thermal scope. so far the YT consensus is mixed. I like the idea of a clip on for observation as well, but it seems you get better detection range with the larger dedicated set ups.

Gunsmithing potholes in the bore

Gents,
What could cause these potholes / damages throughout the bore?
200 rounds, 6.5 Creedmoor
Foreign material, improper cleaning?

It is often said, people use 15x-18x all match long, due to wobble and needing enough field of view to stay on target. I would like to know what is the maximum magnification YOU FIND USEFUL during a PRS, NRL or steel target style match. Please exclude the times you use your scope as a spotter, that’s not what I am asking about. I want to know, when you are behind the gun, on target, do you even occasionally go up to 30x? 35x? Whatever that number is, please place a vote.

Ammo *Prices Reduced and List Updated 11/9/24* For Sale: Entire Extensive Ammo Collection - Ex-Fiance robbed my house!

***Prices Reduced and List Updated on 11/9/2024***

I took my kids to Disney for 3 days and when I returned home, the attorney I've been dating for the last 5 years cleared out my house. She literally took everything including my kids beds, all the plates, silverware, even the toilet paper... no I'm not joking. She left the guns, ammo, and a couch. So now I'm selling my entire collection of guns and ammo to try and save my house. I'll post more as soon as I can. I'm located near Tallahassee, FL., If you're LEO/MIL let me know and I'll see what I can do price wise. I did post this to another forum also. All ammo has been stored in ammo cans since purchases and in a climate controlled room.

All Prices are per box. Buyer pays shipping/insurance, I've been using UPS and have an account so it should save you some.

SOLD SOLD Bushnell DMR II 3.5-21x50 G3 SOLD

Selling a lightly used DMR II 3.5-21x50 G3 reticle. I used it in a couple matches, but otherwise it has sat in the safe for most of its life. It did have a light coat of spray paint at one point, which has since been removed. There are two tan lines on the objective bell, those are the last remnant of the paint that I couldn’t quite fully remove (pictured). The whole scope is in excellent condition.

Vortex defender scope caps and all of the original packaging would be included.

SOLD

Not interested in any trades at the moment.

I think we're going to get a GSD for the family. Not 100% decided yet, but close.

When I was really young before my parents divorced I had a Samoyed and a GSD. I was told they were stolen, but who knows what that means. I always suspected they developed some sort of problems and unfortunately took bullets. After that we had a blue heeler and then mutts. One of the mutts was GSD and I'm pretty sure heeler. We grew up in town and had a okay sized yard, but not enough room for the 3 dogs that we would have at a time. None of them ever received any real training. But we never had any problems with them.

Roommates had dogs later in life, but I didn't make any forays back into dog owning until I met my wife. She had miniature dogs which was a trip to me. Loved them. When we moved to Montana we gave our last inherited mini barker to a friend before we left (had to move into to a rental for a while). My children have been begging for a new pooch for the last 2+ years. Been talking about it the whole time off and on, just trying to figure out the best timing, and we're finally just going to say fuck it and hit send.

Some folks up the valley from us that we know breed GSD's. They have a young family as well and they say the dogs fit in with their family perfectly. So all good on that point. My wife had an Airedale when she was young, but most of her dogs have been tiny little yip yaps. We have 4 children: about 8 months, almost 3 years, 5, and 8. I've impressed upon my wife that she and the girls will have to train the dog/s. The way I figure it is I will have my 2 daughters (8 and 5) do the bulk of the training during the week. I'll quietly coach them while they relay to the dog. Then the wife will mix in on weekends, maybe walks at night when she can swing it. I just want to avoid a situation where the dog only wants to listen to Dad.

I'm not too awful worried about any serious training. I just want the dog to protect my children. That is the main goal of bringing the dog into our family in both mine and Momma's eyes. We live on the edge of the Bitterroot National Forest and the forest comes right up to our property. A month or so ago I finally parked on the other side of the valley and showed my wife where we live. I said "you see that range? That's all National forest and the animals that own it. You see that spot there on the edge of the trees? That's us. Of course the animals can go wherever they want and people spot them in the valley all the time. But babe, all they do is walk out of the woods into the land that I cleared and they are right there with us." Finally fucking clicked for her. Derp.

We have 10 acres that we plan to make a small homestead out of eventually, but it has been pretty slow going. I'm doing the best I can, but it's a lot for one guy to do on raw land with a young family. The likelihood of a wild critter attacking my people is probably lower than them having to dirt nap a rabid satanic commie fuck sometime in their lives, but I'd still like them to have an edge if the need ever arose. And that's where the GSD comes in. We both like the idea of a Great Pyrenees, and we'll probably add one later when appropriate, but I think starting with a GSD might work out better for us.

I'm really just looking for some GSD love and confirmation, but give me what ya got. And if anyone has any dog training tips videos, books, you name it I'd appreciate them.

ETA: Just brought him home.
