So last year i sold my ARC CDG and PVA barrel to help fund an ar-10 project. Work is looking better so i may revisit that project. I found 5 actions under 1k i'm considering.

Obviously the CDG for 899, not sure if my mil discount can apply, if it does that'd be 809. Zermatt Origin is an obvious mention. MAc Bros Evo II which i can get for 725 with discount. Defiance Classic which Red hawk rifles and altus sells for around 999 i believe. And Finally brownells has the kelbly atlas tactical for 999, with various 10% codes that goes down to 900.

Of those actions mentioned, for PRS, target shooting, maybe some hunting, but mostly just shooting for enjoyment, which would ya'll choose and why?

It started out life as Titanium Blue and then I blasted it down and cerakoted in Sniper Gray with Armor black distressed finish on top. This was done in my shop using air cure cerakote and I did it myself so its not a "professional" job by any means but it is holding up really well overall. As you can see in the pics I forgot to remove my QD sling mount when I did the distressed job so it has a clean spot on it I got the NV and control bridges to help with mirage (scope bell goes over control bridge) and it does a really good job of that.

I am looking to re-home 3 custom barrels that have plenty of life left. I will have pictures of groups and targets over the years upon request as well.

Barrel #1: Remington 700 - Brux in 243 Ackley, M24/40 contour, fluted, 8 twist. FDE cerakote. Was originally 26in, chopped to 16in to be as handy as possible for coyotes and suppressor use. Originally chambered by RGS gunsmithing in Casper WY. Cut to 16in by LRI in Sturgis. Has less than 600rds on it. Shot in the .2s often. 400$

Barrel #2: Remington 700 - Bartlein in 7 rsaum, Heavy Palma, 8 twist, 23in, bead blasted, all work done by Eric at LRI. Has less than 500rds on it and shot sub moa at 1000yds regularly. Have lots of new and used brass available too. 500$

Barrel #3: Defiance Deviant - 300 Norma Magnum, Heavy Palma, 8 twist, 24in, FDE cerakote. All work done by Eric at LRI. Has less than 600rds on it and does extremely well with 250gr ATips. Shot a 7in, 5rd group at 1776yds with it. 600$

All 3 barrels have half their life left or more. All 3 got pulled for the reasons as follows: #1 - changed calibers and converted rifle to competition use. #2 - changed calibers and needed new contour for new suppressor reflex design allowing more length as well. #3 - wanted as long a barrel as possible for the 300nm to extend capability as far as possible.

I wanted to give a Shoutout to Garrison Pratt of Follow Through Rifleworks. Many know I had the TacOps / KMW built off a Surgeon Action. But the same time Follow Through Rifleworks was building me a similar 308 Surgeon Build to pair with KMW Bedded MCM A5.

Garrison sent me the rifle a bit back, but life tends to get in the way. I was able to go out and put the rifle through its paces and wanted to bring you the results.

First off,

I did a quick rough zero with 175gr Federal Ammo. I wasn't trying too hard so don't look too hard into the first group, it was just to get me close so I could switch to the 185gr Berger ammo. The Berger is pricey so I didn't want to waste it zeroing.



This was my 5 shot results from the first group using the Berger 185gr.

More impressive was the Garmin Results:



On Steel, this rifle was an absolute Hammer !

I have a 6.5 creedmoor built by Billy tierce in Mississippi . The gun absolutely shot like a laser from day one . I literally brought it home and did the Krieger break in and after researching loads I loaded a few 140 bergers with 42 grains h4350 and shot a ragged hole with them right away . Only has 60 rounds on it .

I'm new to shooting and certainly can't shoot anything close to sub MOA but I hope to someday (with lots of range time). It seems that most modern equipment can easily achieve this so it's really a measurement of the shooters capabilities right? That got me thinking though what percent of people can constantly shot sub MOA at 100 yards?

Not in a terrible rush, and the thought of no tax on a $3800 optic is damn appealing, but I'm getting some PTSD from the days of waiting 1..1.5 years on backordered shit from SWFA gives me pause.
