It seems that Larue went with a rather rare 1:8 twist for their 308 uppers, unlike the more common 1:10 twist. While googling, I get a lot of 300 blackout results (not what I'm looking for). I do reload and plan to reload for this, but I'm saving for an optic right now. I believe the 1:8 twist is better for heavier/longer bullets, but I need to be mindful of magazine OAL restrictions. In the meantime, I was curious what others who own this same upper seem to like for accurate store bought target ammo and deer hunting ammo.

Story time for the barrel. Came off of an American Sniper Association M24 sold on Eurooptic. I sold the gun to a friend, had 550 rounds through it. He shot it for a while afterwards, not sure total round count but I assume less than 800.

He found an original receiver and used the Eurooptic parts to build off. He was going to have a smith put this barrel on his action but changed his mind. I bought the barrel for the front sight lug.

I have a recurrent problem spotting targets through my scope that I can't seem to shake. Everything blends in or is fuzzy--Grey plates just melt into the background. I stopped wearing transitions and prescriptions (I have noline continuous bifocals). Been trying colored lenses. Target discrimination is really a problem for me. Even with High Eng Glass Like ZCO, My right eye is the weaker and I'm almost ready to switch to lefty because I loose so much time trying to find the grey ass fuzz target. Binos are better, but its clear the left eye is doing the work.

Full magnification (25X) and 100% daylight its still a struggle. No amount of parallax, diopter, glasses seems to fix it.

This is rock islands 2011 in 9mm. I got it because I couldn’t believe I could own a 2011 under $1000 but this was it. It has never given me any issues and shoots nice, accurate, and is affordable! It 's not ideal but the scope will be switched between both guns until I am able to purchase another scope. The guns will be used to shoot out to 1000 yards.
So I am needing some advice on the mount height which will work on both guns. Like I said, the bases will have the cant so I'm thinking a 0 MOA base.

When you guys buy a new scope do you guys always set the scope in the middle of how many of clicks of MOA it has. Scope mfgs usually state put in middle.

Very good condition, glass flawless, a few minor rubs on the bottom of the windage and the ocular knurling. Pictures do make it look worse than it is...

Hello everyone. I just joined after a long time of coming across this forum during searches. I currently have an Eotech XPS and magnifier on my AR15 and I don't have any experience with variable magnified optics.
I'm thinking about a Steiner T6xi 3-18x56 MIL for my new Larue 18" 308. I will be deer hunting with this and outside of hunting season, I'll be target shooting out to 500 yards (with the rare possibility of over 500 yards).
For those with a 3-18x optic (or even this exact optic), does this seem plausible for both hunting and target shooting?
