What exactly is Trump on trial for?

Serious question - but this is the Bear Pit so you do you, I won't be offended

I've been trying to follow along the trial in NY where Trump is alleged to have paid some dollars to a couple of ladies to not speak about any encounters with DJT but still haven't figured out how any of this could be illegal, as in criminal. But I know there's shit on the books that make stuff illegal that you would never think would be so could one of you SH Legal Scholars shine some light ?

If you could help me out, I'd sleep better.

PRS Talk PRS Tac Class 308 Win

Anyone in here actively compete in Tac Class? Ive finally put my 308 rifle together and just curious if im thinking the wrong way here. Ive bought quite a bit of the 177SMK and have little load data on them but have found 2 nodes with these around 2600 and one around 2690....I can push them harder but since most of the matches are 1000yds or less is it really needed? I have always bought bullets on the heavier end of the spectrum and then tried to shoot them at max distance just trying to find the limits of the cartridge but it is seeming like some of the guys are having good success with the 155 bullets in which i have never tested. Is there enough positives to actually try to switch over to these and what is your prefered bullet?

177s
Moderate recoil
545ish BC
2600-2700fps
Target splash
Dirt splash

155s
Less recoil?
520 BC?
2800+fps?
?
?

Just curious as to what is actually winning in this class as it seems like there is no coverage on anything but Open.

Cases not fire forming and carbon at case head

Hey everyone so I'm trying to figure out what's going on here. This brass pictured is out of a .22bra chamber the fire forming method used is the false shoulder. So these cases are from the 2nd firing and the resizing die used is the SAC modular BRA die. All the pieces of brass that had this happen were short on headspace by about .003. my theory is that either maybe my chamber is bigger then the sac sizing die or maybe I bumped the shoulder to far back. Let me know what you guys think

End of an Era: Boy Scouts of America Officially Changes Name to Embrace Inclusivity After 114 Years!

The “woke virus” continues to spread in America.

The Boy Scouts of America has announced a major rebranding as it transitions to “Scouting America,” marking the first name change in its 114-year legacy.

The move is part of the organization’s bid to distance itself from its troubled past marred by a torrent of sexual abuse claims and subsequent bankruptcy while simultaneously embracing “inclusivity.”

The Gateway Pundit reported that the organization was nearly bankrupt after a series of woke decisions, including changing its policies to allow gay leaders and allowing girls to join. Those decisions had a major impact on the organization’s bottom line.

This change is yet another surrender to the ongoing “woke” agenda permeating longstanding American institutions. This is another surrender to political correctness, prioritizing superficial inclusivity over the core values that once made the Boy Scouts an iconic organization.

For over a century, the Boy Scouts of America has stood as a pillar of traditional American values, providing millions of young boys with formative experiences focused on leadership, self-reliance, and camaraderie.

In its press release, Scouting America stated that the change will take effect on February 8, 2025, coinciding with the organization’s 115th anniversary.

“The Boy Scouts of America will rebrand to Scouting America, reflecting the organization’s ongoing commitment to welcome every youth and family in America to experience the benefits of Scouting,” the organization said.

President and CEO Roger A. Krone claimed, “Though our name will be new, our mission remains unchanged: we are committed to teaching young people to be Prepared. For Life. This will be a simple but very important evolution as we seek to ensure that everyone feels welcome in Scouting.”

The name change is meant to reflect the organization’s supposed commitment to inclusivity following decisions in recent years to allow openly gay members and leaders and welcome girls into the ranks.

AP reported:

The organization steeped in tradition has made seismic changes after decades of turmoil, from finally allowing gay youth to welcoming girls throughout its ranks. With an eye on increasing flagging membership numbers, the Irving, Texas-based organization announced the name change Tuesday at its annual meeting in Florida.
“In the next 100 years we want any youth in America to feel very, very welcome to come into our programs,” Roger Krone, who took over last fall as president and chief executive officer, said in an interview before the announcement.
The organization began allowing gay youth in 2013 and ended a blanket ban on gay adult leaders in 2015. In 2017, it made the historic announcement that girls would be accepted as Cub Scouts as of 2018 and into the flagship Boy Scout program — renamed Scouts BSA — in 2019.
There were nearly 1,000 young women in the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts in 2021, including Selby Chipman. The all-girls troop she was a founding member of in her hometown of Oak Ridge, North Carolina, has grown from five girls to nearly 50, and she thinks the name change will encourage even more girls to realize they can join.
“Girls were like: ‘You can join Boy Scouts of America?’” said Chipman, now a 20-year-old college student and assistant scoutmaster of her troop.
Within days of the announcement that girls would be allowed, Bob Brady went to work. A father of two girls and a proud Eagle Scout himself, the New Jersey attorney eagerly formed an all-girls troop. At their first weekend gathering with other troops, the boys were happy to have the girls involved but some adult leaders seemed concerned, he recalled. Their worries seemed to melt away as soon as the girls led a traditional cheer around the campfire.

The very name “Boy Scouts of America” carried a timeless and specific message, one that emphasized the unique journey of boys learning to become responsible men. The removal of the word “Boy” in favor of a more neutral moniker is unnecessary and eroding concession to modern pressures.

AI AT Elevation issues at 1000yards?

So after a few matches, im noticing my AI AT in 308 is having some elevation issues... my load is 190 gr smk, 43gr varget, cci br2 primers, nosler brass, 2.85 oal. The bolt for the quickloc is torqued to 65inlbs as I got the best repeatable POI at that setting. My SD and ES for that load is 3 std and 8 es. Honestly I'm not sure what it could be. Could it be the clamp in the quickloc system just getting stretched at that torque spec? I'd check every bolt on the rifle and they are all nice and tight.

SOLD GONE! Wilson Combat “Cave Gun” & Nighthawk 1911’s

I’ll schlep myself out back into Horta’s Palace of Pew later for fauxtoes, but…

Wilson Combat’s coveted “Cave Gun” that was made specifically for a group of Tier-0 dudes in AFG some years back. Full-size .45 1911 with rail. All factory original kit with WC bag, mags, accessories, etc. Sweet shooter, but haven’t popped off a 45-cal round in 5 years, hence the Safe Queen sell-off.

I’d guess 5-7 mags through it — 10 tops. No clue what real value is, so I’ll just plop $4K on it and take offers from there. It was hawt stuff at one time, no idea if it’s still a sought-after thing now or what.

Two Nighthawks — 1) GRP in Burnt Bronze with super grippy handles. All factory. Love this gun, but haven’t put a round through it in half a decade. I’ll pull it out sometimes just to look at it. It’s all old skewl. No rail, no milled slide. All original factory bag, accessories, mags, etc. Maybe 20 mags through it lifetime. Call it $3500 OBO. Again, no idea what they’re worth today.

NH2) Kickass 10mm Longslide, also in Burnt Bronze. Doh! Not bronze. Wood color grips body in black, identical to this one listed on GB. Exactly one 50-round box put through her. All factory stuff, including seriously schweet custom leather OWB holster that works perfectly for BOTH the 10mm and the GRP. Call it $4000 OBO.

Shipped to FFL or can do FTF with AL residents. C’mon by an Choot’em!

Forgot I had a custom Kydex holster made for the Wilson with a Streamlight TLR-IR “Vampire” WML (seen in pics, and will include both holster and light for lucky buyer).

Lastly, I keep my Safe Queens pretty wet with CLP or CleanzOil for long term storage, so you’ll see a little seepage in the photos.

There be PICS up in heeeeyah:

Anyone else listen to this podcast?

Lately I've been listening to more and more podcasts. Joe Rogan when there is someone of interest, Shawn Ryan Show, Tucker, and sometimes Tim Pool.

I came across this one awhile back and it has quickly turned into my favorite one. He has no sponsors, no ads, he's not beholden to anyone, and he tells it how he sees it.

Sea level

This article about sea levels rising mentions several coastal city and different elevations at different locations. ( Galveston had by far the biggest increase. Its 8.4 inches easily outpaced other locations along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, including Charleston, S.C. (7.1 inches); Wilmington, N.C. (7 inches); and Jacksonville and Miami, Fla. (both 6 inches). I may not be a smart man but I thought they were connected. I understand that these waters have different names but to me it looks like one big ass body of water that's connected. Other than tidal influence I don't get it. Miami and Galveston are less than 1k miles apart how in the hell is the ocean level 2.4" different.?

Why Congress Never Challenges the Intelligence Community

Spot on.

There is a rather remarkable indictment against congressman Henry Cuellar (D-Texas, CD-28) that everyone should read. You might remember that Cuellar was openly critical of the Biden border crisis in the latter half of 2021. Approximately a few weeks after Cuellar was openly and strongly criticizing Biden, FBI agents raided his home

At the time of the FBI raid (January 2022), everyone noted the visible connection between Cuellar’s criticism of Biden and the launch of the DOJ investigation against him. The timing was just too convenient.

Last Friday an indictment was unsealed. Representative Cuellar and his wife are each charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit bribery of a federal official and to have a public official act as an agent of a foreign principal, two counts of bribery of a federal official, two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, two counts of violating the ban on public officials acting as agents of a foreign principal, one count of conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering, and five counts of money laundering.

Interestingly, the charges and the activity date back to 2014 and continue over the next ten years culminating in the indictment a decade later.
I would strongly urge people to read THE 54-PAGE INDICTMENT.
What you realize when you read the indictment is exactly what we have talked about on these pages for well over a decade, the business end of American politics. Cuellar and his wife are a case study in how the average federal politician gets wealthy from selling their office.

Help, my 5.56 reloads suck

Ok gents, hoping some of the experts here can help me. I got into reloading a little bit ago to try and bring down the cost associated with shooting my 308’s. I found some early success with my MK316 clone loads, and figured since I already had the press and a ton of old brass, I might as well try my hand at some 5.56 loading.

To begin with - I am not looking for match grade accuracy here, just decent range ammo and something to store away. I’m using mixed headstamp 5.56 brass, 55gr Armscor bullets, Remington SRB primers, and Ramshot TAC powder, all loaded to 2.25 COAL to match M193. I’ve tried quite a few different charge weights between 24.5 and 26 grs and honestly I’m pretty disgusted with my results. I have not been able to get a single 5 shot group, suppresses or unsuppressed, through any rifle or barrel (all of which are very decent - Geissele, Rainier CHF/CL Mountain, Colt SOCOM, etc) to measure less than 3.3 MOA. Most are between 4-5 MOA.

What am I missing here? Are these Armscor bullets just that bad? They were certainly cheap, but 4-5 minutes seems terrible to me. I haven’t crimped any of them, but that’s the next variable for me to test. I’m also planning on trying to bring my OAL back in to the book minimum of 2.20 after running it all the way out to 2.26 with no improvement. For context, my Rainier barrel shoots 2.7 minute groups with M193, .75 minute groups with MK262 and about 1 minute with some cheap 77gr Reman loads.

I’m just looking for a decent range load that will print 2-2.75 MOA groups like M193 will and that will come close to it in terms of velocity. Is that too much to ask for from mixed brass and cheap bullets? If not, is it this TAC powder? The lack of a crimp? Appreciate any advice you guys have. If these don’t print I can always chew them up at the 25 yard line, but it would be nice to make something decent with the rest of these bullets and brass.

SOLD 2 Foundation Genesis

I have 2 foundation genesis for sale. Both are for right hand Remington 700 short actions. Both have the full length foundation Arca rail. One has what appears to be a badger ordnance bottom metal (the one with the black epoxy weights (weighs about 8.5 pounds) the other has a Hawkins precision bottom metal and a short actions custom 2 round holder with the clear epoxy over the weights and it weighs roughly about 8.5 pounds as well. Looking to sell them for $950 each shipped. I bought them both used but never ran them in a match because I prefer the chassis style. This is my first post
on here but can FaceTime or do whatever is needed for that. Will take Venmo or PayPal F&F
