This is not an insert/kit upper. It's a fully machined custom 416SS Green Mountain AR 22LR barrel with fully machined tenon, feed ramp and extractor grooves from a Green Mountain 1:16 1.2" 416SS blank.

Those of you that know what this is know they shoot lights out. Shoots CCI SV very accurately and hammers with Eley and Lapua. Runs Black Dog or CMMG 22lr AR mags on your standard AR lower.

John built this for me 4 or so years ago I wanted to see if there was any accuracy difference between my 12" and this 18". There wasn't. They both straight hammer. Ok, sparked by this post by @Old Man with Gun:

I began a quest to find a carbon fiber drag washer for my CAL v2 bipod. Drag, as for fishing reels, not for drag shows.

Anyway, I found one, which amazingly needed no cutting, sanding, fitting, cursing, or anything! Heads up: I shoot from a bench, I want to lock the cant ability off (or make it very, very stiff). The CAL, for me, was not cutting it even after messing with the locknut's gross tension adjustment, and I was ready to sell it.

My mod doesn't give me 1000% lockup like my Elite Iron or LRA bipods, but close enough for government work. I wiped off the existing grease that was in the area where the original washer resided before slapping the new CF one in there. I didn't use acetone to remove ALL of the grease, which maybe wouldn't be the worst idea if you want max max max lockup.

I did alert @Kasey (owner of Atlas/B&T Industries) to my research and he's looking into washers like these. Btw, @Terry Cross, the creator of the Pod-Loc cant tightening device that's on the Atlas (and other) bipods told me that his invention works the way it does is by design, a design which was driven by his end users. Out of shape lusers like me were not his focus lol (nor should they have been).

Anyway, I use bipods at the range sometimes because they are light, and I want to set it and forget it. Can't guarantee anything if you like to have a looser cant. Kasey said the previous CF washers his team tried were grabby; if they added lube they didn't lock off enough. Maybe I got lucky…mine is not grabby either.

1. Unscrew handle
2. Use socket or wrench to remove locking nut. Various other parts will slide off.
3. Slide "mount" off of spindle. Kinda tricky.
4. Remove white plastic washer, decide if you want to remove all grease or just wipe excess off
5. Put your new CF washer on
6. Reassemble and fine-tune the gross tightness by tightening/loosening locknut
7. Spin on handle and go shoot

Carry on.

Looking for a bit of troubleshooting advice.

I have a 1:7 28" long Krieger barrel chambered in 6.5x47 on an Impact action. When I zero the rifle, I had to dial over 7 mils right to get it on paper (compared to the last barrel).

Additionally, the gun groups poorly (1.5" - 2" at 100 yards) and doesn't perform at distance. I was shooting 153 A-Tips @ 2670 FPS and had to drop the BC from .355 to .306 on my kestrel to get it to line-up at distance (1000 yards).

However, about every 3rd shot the bullet will go way high, which makes it seem like the bullet is actually flying at the correct BC.

My hypothesis is jackets are tearing (there is significant copper fouling in the bore) which is causing the BC to suffer.

My question is, is this an issue with the chamber or the rifling?

Any thoughts?

Everytime I go to the range with my build I find things I like, and things I think I could benefit from changing. I'm currently using a triggertech primary set pretty much as low as it will go. The more I shoot groups the more I would like something a bit lighter. I find myself pulling a lot of shots from it. I was looking at the triggertech diamond single stage originally. My problem I can see with a real light single stage is you have go be careful resting your finger on the trigger when your getting ready for the shot. This leads me to 2 stage. You can have most your weight in the first stage and have the 2nd stage very light. Seems like a safer and more consistent way to get a good pull. I've never really shot 2 stage triggers much. What have a lot of you guys come to prefer? Is the triggertech diamond 2 stage a good option? I'm mainly shooting groups off a bench and steel out at distance informally. No competitions or anything. Action is a bighorn origin.

I am looking at buying an NX8 4-32x50 F1 Mil-XT over here. The seller states it has been back to NF for a service and everything is ok. Kind of begs the question of what was wrong with it. I have asked the geezer and am awaiting a response.

In the meantime I did some searching which turned up a couple of posts with problems but so what, that doesn't mean there is a general issue.
