SOLD WTS: Manners LRH Long Action - $750

Up for grabs, a Manners LRH long action, Rem 700 clones, carbon fiber stock in scorched earth camo with a nice, thick Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad installed. Action screws and bedding pillars are included (no mini-chassis). This stock tips the scales at a mere 1.8 lbs (1 lb, 13.5 oz) as shown. $800 $750 shipped TYD. PP F&F or Zelle preferred.

I also have the Sawtooth extended Arca rail for this stock that improves upon the short one it comes with forward of the magazine well. The longer rail allows for greater flexibility in tripod/bag supported shooting and hitting the right balance point, especially with a supressor installed.

Supreme Court: It’s Not ‘Cruel and Unusual Punishment’ to Clear Homeless Encampments

In this May 30, 2019 file photo, tents housing homeless line a street in downtown Los Ange

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Friday that it is not “cruel and unusual punishment” under the Eighth Amendment to remove homeless people from encampments and to imprison them for repeatedly violating anti-camping laws.
The case, City of Grants Pass v. Johnson, was watched closely by civic leaders nationwide who are struggling to deal with homelessness — especially in Los Angeles, California, where the homeless population has continued to grow.
Justice Neil Gorsuch, writing for the majority, expressed sympathy for the homeless, and acknowledged that the issue is complex and difficult to resolve. But he noted that laws against encampments were “commonplace,” and said that the Eighth Amendment was a “poor foundation” on which to mount a challenge against them. The right forum in which to debate responses to homelessness was in democratically-elected governments, not in the federal courts.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called the Court’s decision “disappointing” — although her own city is struggling to deal with homeless encampments:

Bass’s strategy is to move homeless people into motels or hotels, and bill the taxpayers — and has met with only limited success, with some people benefiting but the homeless population growing.
In April, Bass implored wealthy residents of the city to donate money for property to be devoted to the homeless. Los Angeles County is trying to replace a quarter-cent sales tax for homeless services to a half-cent in a ballot initiative.
Justice Sonya Sotomayor said in her dissent: “Sleep is a biological necessity, not a crime. For some people, sleeping outside is their only option. The City of Grants Pass jails and fines those people for sleeping anywhere in public at any time, including in their cars, if they use as little as a blanket to keep warm or a rolled-up shirt as a pillow. For people with no access to shelter, that punishes them for being homeless. That is unconscionable and unconstitutional.”

The case is City of Grants Pass v. Johnson, No. 23-175, in the Supreme Court of the United States.

What's the break in on a Benelli M4

Guys with Benelli M4s,

Anyone have luck shooting Fiocchi "defense" 00 buck? It's a low-er (I guess?) brass round but it wouldn't cycle through the Benelli on it's first outing. I'm not surprised since the gun was showroom new until this morning. So my question is, once properly broken in, can a Benelli M4 cycle lower power loads like that?? Most of the time it wouldn't eject the spent shells, but I only have 20 high power 00 buck through it so far.

Will the M4 gas system cycle even target loads once broken in? I wish I would have brought more high brass shells with me today because damn is that thing fun to shoot!

Ex-Uvalde school police chief Arredondo didn't stop gunman 'hunting and shooting' students

UVALDE, Texas — A 10-count indictment made public Friday accuses former Uvalde school district police chief Pete Arredondo of 10 missteps that led to the botched law enforcement response to an active shooter who killed 19 children and two teachers in May 2022.

Authorities booked Arredondo on Thursday into the county jail, where he spent about 90 minutes before being released on bond.

A grand jury also indicted former school district police officer Adrian Gonzales, whose role has been less public in the two years and one month since the shooting. He had not been booked into jail as of Friday, and an indictment in his case remains under seal.

The indictments are the culmination of a six-month grand jury investigation that included months of in-person testimony, including from Texas Department of Public Safety director Col. Steve McCraw.

The officers face up to two years behind bars and a $10,000 fine if convicted of the state jail felony charges.

Barrel out of spec? Origin shouldered to savage style.

Hey guys, I am piecing together a beater on a Solus action. I do have an origin shouldered prefit that is perfect. Today I picked up a rainier arms 8.6 blackout savage small shank match barrel. As I screw the barrel into the action I make less than 1/2 rotation before it becomes overly tight, almost like it’s wanting to cross thread. This being said, I am positive I am not cross threading. I can feel the threads properly in the thread channels. Any ideas how else to troubleshoot this specific problem?

Almost new rifle - groups spread horizontal

Hello guys,
got me a new Bergara B14 Wilderness Sierra for hunting in .270 Winchester.

I´ve tried some bullets but the groups weren´t good in the beginning.
I stuck with the Nosler 150gr. BT, which seemed to have the best precision potential.

Made a ladder test and found a plateau close to the maximum powder load (what Quickload said).
Primers and brass still looking good, I began to vary the OAL.

From 6 loads with different OALs (each 5 rounds), I had two loads spreading evenly horizontal and vertical at about 1.2"ish.
4 loads had only a vertical spread of around 0.4", but still a horizontal spread of round about 1.2".

I don´t now where, but in a book or in the internet I´ve read, that a horizontal spread can be caused by a too stout load.

Can somebody confirm this, or is this nonsense?

Barrel threading question?

So, I'm not a machinist, but I understand a few things in regards to how things work and why something is made a certain way, etc.. This pertains to when one would screw on a tuner, this case an ATS and you have to use the spacer and maybe another smaller one so the threads of the tuner will stay on the barrel threads. When a barrel is threaded is there a reason why there's such a large gap between the ends of the threads and the barrel shoulder? My guess is the cutter is a certain width and one is unable to run the threads closer to the shoulder? If that's not it, why is it?
