Maybe you had to be there- otherwise (now) funny stories you were able to witness

Haven't seen this topic explored yet and figured that the Bear Pit is the only one that made sense for the question so here it goes- does anyone else have any outrageous stories (don't need to dox anyone in particular) they were fortunate enough to witness? I reckon I have at least a handful but I remember one of the 'shocks' of boot camp was before I showed up for BCT, I not only had never been on a plane before that point, but I also never knew that certain types of Americans existed.

I'll try my best to start this off with a story of my own.

My unit was mobilized to the National Training Center (NTC) in CA prior to a deployment in the Middle East (pretty standard). We went through the usual mobilization crap but when we arrived at NTC- it was January timeframe and holy smokes was it cold. We had to spend the week offloading equipment, getting the MILES equipment set up, etc etc while we froze our butts off because we later found out that the vast majority of our vehicles' heaters were inoperable.

Anywho onto the now 'funny' part of the story. Once we got everything set up, we started going through the training scenarios and for the vast majority of that exercise, I was a dismount on the back of a Bradley listening on the headset for the crew conversation to direct the rest of our dismount team on what actions were needed.

To set up this story- the Bradley Commander (BC) had already done 2 tours in OIF I & III and was an Army Sniper (hence why I led the conversation with this story) and at that point was a SSG. He was one of the most experienced NCO's we had and as such- in typical military fashion was assigned the more 'challenging' junior/recently enlisted Privates while still holding the 'Senior Scout' position for the platoon. So to put another way, a super experienced and professional NCO is assigned a BFV, is BC, has an excellent gunner to this day I still remember their name, but the driver is... a soldier in need of extra attention. Ok- now that the stage is set..

So we're doing our maneuvers in the BFV and I'm in the back as a dismount monitoring all communication and it's the typical- "Private X", go to the right.... and the vehicle banks violently to the left... of course this is followed by a rather impressive string of obscenities by the BC along the lines of "Right, Right goddammit!", which of course is countered by the driver with another violent shift to the other direction. This was usually followed with yet another string of expletives from the BC that essentially translated to "Jesus Christ Private X, you're going to kill me some day". And this went on day after day for over a week.

So one thing to understand with NTC- you have to understand we didn't simulate things and if the MILES gear said your vehicle/crew was destroyed you actually got MEDEVACed out of the site and from what I remember there was something like a 'playing card system' in place on whether you returned back to your unit. Well at some point during this 'experience' I remember the squared away gunner walking off the BFV and stepping on the open hatch of the driver that PVT X was operating and if memory serves me correctly , the armored hatch slammed shut and broke PVT X's Arm. Well they patched him up and he went back to operating the BFV with one arm while we were there.

So here we get to the crux of the story- the BC ended up having a cardiovascular medical emergency a couple of days afterwards and I can still to this day vividly remember him being strapped down to a litter (think ratchet strapped) to be loaded onto the chopper and the whole time him yelling something along the lines of "I told you so PVT X! I told you that you'd be the death of me!" etc. etc. all while he was being loaded onto the Blackhawk for a very real Medevac.

Anyway, as the title suggests, maybe you'd have to be there to appreciate the story but perhaps some folks here can relate and appreciate it. The BC did recover well enough for the Army to deem fit to participate into deploying a 3rd time with us but without getting into too specific of details- that was his last free trip to the Middle East (at least per the compliments of our favorite uncle).

Anyone else have similar stories?

More fallout from Detroits untested rape kits

So not only did they have 11,000 untested rape kits they happily sent people to prison who where innocent according to DNA evidence.

Sent innocent man to prison for 15 years while the man who committed the rapes went on to do so several more times .

It only took 15 years to actually arrest the serial rapist and set the innocent man free .

Confirmed use of mini guns by CJNG??

True if big
Or just a typical case of journos fckng up anything technical info firearm-related, and they meant Minimi's were used... which can already be confirmed from pics they have a bunch of the sweet Minimi Para models w/ shorty barrel, collapsing stock, etc.

But it was reported not long ago that El Mencho's boys(CJNG) have approximately 12 functioning M134 miniguns... 😳 But this was per the DEA, so take it with a grain of salt because we all know every alphabet agency is a shitshow and feds will use any and all excuse for a budget increase toward the war on freedom...err, I meant war on terror, war on drugs, etc.

👀
@Mr.BR you heard Anything sir? This story is easily believable for me, following the cartel wars extremely closely, I know for a fact CJNG(and Sinaloa as well) have the resources, ways and means to get their hands on a few miniguns...

Sinaloa already showed during El Culiacanazo they have a fuckton of M2 .50's and M1919 .30's(thanks Mr Eric Holder can we please give them more sweet kit that aint available to US Citizens?)mounted in custom armored technicals-type trucks but more similarto the Vietnam gun trucks in that theyre basicallylike big duece and a half size flat beds with a make shift armor wall surrounding the entire bed.

El Culiacanazo- the operation where Mex Special Forces captured Chapos son Ovidio, then the team was surrounded, military families taken hostage, IED's placed in the fuel storage areas near military barracks, etc and they were forced to let him go. Unfortunately for him they came correct on their 2nd attempt, this time with helo gunship support, at night, and carried out a "successful" capture. Said "Successful" because reportedly there were many many many civvie casualties, summary executions, etc..

Making the Vortakt Connection

This story began this past SHOT Show, where I was working at the U.S. Concealed CarryAssociation booth as part of the USCCA Official Partner Marketing team. I’d been a long timelistener of “The Everyday Sniper” and had managed a few ad accounts on the platform over theyears, so I had a fairly solid baseline understanding of the Sniper’s Hide brand and the history ofthe website.

While my 9-5 occupation currently finds me working more with handgun and carbinecurriculum, my true passion (and career background) has been in the precision rifle space. I stillcontract with a handful of different manufacturers in my off time to stay active in...

Most of us knew he was a POS long before this.

Long ago in Fla we provided power for many venues. During the early 90's a US Navy Hydrofoil was docked in Tampa & needed a Mw dockside. We took a unit down an hooked her up. That afternoon we got a call from a guy with CBS who wants us to move the unit 80 feet so they could use the ship as back drop for this POS. I was called to go down & see WTF was going on, which I did. Upon arrival I found the Captain to see if he wanted it moved & to relay the cost of same. Doing it while still powering the ship would be costly, but if it could be shut down during would be much cheaper. He wanted to know who called, told him, and he said no way its getting shut down for that. The Navy would not pay that freight, which is what I suspected from the get go. Walked over to the CBS crew an told them the cost and that was when it all went to shit. They told that POS Rather and he blew a gasket. He walked over and started berating me and after about 30 seconds the Captain walked up and just rolled his eyes. Which to me was clearance to respond in hillbilly style most properly. They got their shot w/o the back round they wanted, as that genset never moved. The Captain offered me a tour and CBS wanted to go as well & he said NO. While getting the tour he was suddenly called away and over rode by higher ups, about CBS coming aboard. He just smiled and said if my Order had not get reversed by higher those "people" would have been shot if they were trying to get on here. The look in his eye convinced me he was not bluffing.

Texas, are these going to be an improvement or death traps?

Given what we know about self driving shit so far? Is quality wrenching on them going to be an issue? I mean if a brake locks up will it just drag it down the road? Or a tire blows will it just rim ride like some I've seen?

Where to send Barrel Blank to be turned into a pre-fit?

This may be a dumb question, so feel free to beat me about the head and shoulders.

I picked up a Krieger barrel blank certificate at a match for whatever I want , and don't really want to leave my action with a local smith for months for them to fit it to the action, when my action can already take a pre-fit. Who if anyone can I send the blank to have them turn it into a pre-fit? I see several sites like Bugholes, and PVA that make pre-fits, but typically it appears that they are selling the blanks as well, so I am not sure if they perform the service on a blank they did not sell.

Who would you recommend o perform such a service, or would it be better just to sell the cert to someone and take the money and put it towards a pre-fit already done?

Let the beatings begin!!!

Gavin Newsom Asks Social Media Users to Help Design New California Coin and it Blows Up in His Face.

newsom.jpg

California Governor Gavin Newsom asked social media users to help design a new $1 coin to honor the state’s innovations on Thursday, and it unsurprisingly blew up in his face.
As Gateway Pundit readers know, the Golden State is suffering from various maladies under Newsom’s watch. These include a severe homelessness epidemic, skyrocketing crime, unaffordable taxes, and high electricity costs.
This has led to a mass exodus of businesses and residents. But Newsom, for some reason, thought social media users would lavish California with praise instead.

Calling all members of the Tortured Coin Designers Department…
CA is getting its own $1 coin to honor innovation, slated to be issued in 2026 – and we need your help!
What is a CA innovation you’d like to see featured on the coin? Send ideas to: [email protected] pic.twitter.com/oOdw4qICtZ

Newsom probably wishes he never clicked “publish” because the replies he received were universally negative. Many of these focused on the filthy streets, Californians leaving for greener pastures, and even Newsom’s tyrannical COVID-19 pandemic policies.
Here are some of the most savage replies:

Optics Minox ZP5 5-25 - 1500$ - with seekins / vortex Rings

For sale I have a used Minox ZP5 5-25

It is 5 years old but hasn’t been used a ton on my backup gun. I’m downsizing to 1 gun.

This scope tracks true and I’d trust my life to it. It has no major blemishes. It does however have some discoloration on the turrets from the anodizing type they use.

I have only cleaned the lenses once and do everything I can to keep them clean. There are no scratches, water spots, etc. always use lens caps!

All turret marks line up perfectly on this one and it has really nice tactics clicks. 3rd gen turrets. Crispy!

I will post some more pictures when I get home.

Will accept all money offers. No trades please.

Marshal dead in shootout in Charlotte

I'm amazed this doesn't happen more often with the kinds of warrants that US Marshals serve. I'm sure when we find out who the perp is (most likely posthumously) he's going to be the worst of the worst.
