is it worth buying a " headspace'd bolt" to match a barrel?

I was looking at buying a Criterion M118LR hybrid barrel for my 20" Aero M5 308, right now it has the factory 416R stainless steel barrel which isn't very consistent. (Great cold bore shots, but when it heats up POI shifts to 3-4 MOA with match ammo FGM 168grs @ 100 yards) I know Criterion offers a headspaced bolt with their barrels, just wondering if it's worth it? From my understanding is they look for a bolt like a JP that is "matched" to your barrel. It seems like from watching videos they just use a standard GO/NO gauge set of gauges and look for a bolt on the tighter end. The price jump is pretty high, barrel is already $389+199 for a JP bolt. $588.00 with my discount 15% off (First responder/military) it's $499. Seems like a bit of $$ for something that might not be an issue?

Checked the obvious things like loose barrel nut, shooter (myself) to rule out the obvious things. Let my buddy have a go, same result. Produces fantastic cold bore shots.. then with different strings, POI go will from center mass, 3 o' clock, then 1". It's kinda of a head scratcher.

on my 16 " Recce" build with a Criteron Core I'm using a standard Toolcraft BCG with good results. Seems much more consistent. I attribute that to the Criterion barrel and also being 223.

Thoughts?

Charging handle toss up

In my search for a durable charging handle I figured the DS arms steel charging handle would be a good fit. I soon came to the conclusion they werent so easy to obtain.

I began searching for a durable aluminum charging handle that might as well have gas divergence built in to the design.

My toss up at the moment is:

The pri gasbuster m84 (non Ambi) has a great reputation.

Original BCM gunfighter mod 4 made now by Vltor.

I do like how the LWRC CH has its oversized steel rivets and steel latching mechanism.

The raptor has dominated the markets lately but I would like to get members take on their current goto.

Maybe too little, too late and purlely political to save face but I like it.

Question - Bartlein 400MOD Experience 18 Months After Launch

Looking for real world experience from end users regarding barrel life of Bartlein 400MOD barrels. I am considering this material to extend barrel life on some new builds in 6.5mm and 6mm.

I am hearing from a couple of knowledgable sources that the original production runs clearly had harder material based on the force and torque required to cut the barrels, with the barrel life of these initial runs being better/longer than normal. Also hearing that some of the more recent runs have not required much additional torque and force to cut compared to standard 416 material and the subsequent barrel life reports for these more recent barrels have come down closer to normal life expectancy. I only have a couple of data points so this is all anecdotal, but if others are finding similar results then maybe there was some tuning of the material recipe or some other factor after the initial runs.

Does anyone have barrel life experience with 400MOD barrels supplied in say the last 6 or 9 months? What kind of extended life, in % increase and/or round count increase, are you getting on barrels supplied recently?

Not trying to create controversy or point any fingers, just trying to get enough real end user data to make a couple of barrel sourcing decisions. Hopefully the responses will suggest that the data I have gathered represents anomalies and the majority of real world barrels are living up to the initial reports at launch. Let's see...

Fani , gift that keeps on giving...........

Fani Willis troughly seems to have a room temperature IQ. Who the fuck pays her a 12k$ speaking fee.

We know Trump screwed over any good lawyer he ever had , but even the ambulant chasers he is using now could/should sink the Fanny

Its also interesting with these ghetto rags-to-riches public office diversity hires, wealth amassed in a couple of years just doesn't compute with their salary.I guess pocketing campaign finance's helps

For you sawbones and pharma folks... I have a question....

We keep talking about how President Spudbrain and his dementia are pretty apparent. Pretty obvious that he has major dementia.

And we sort of 'joke' about the fact that he is being shot up with some kind of drug cocktail so that he can get on stage or in front of a press conference for long enough to look 'a bit coherent' and create enough of a film clip that he *might* appear to be fit to be President when edited, cut and re-mastered by the main Stream Propagandists.

But is this a joke? Are his 'handlers' really able to shoot him up with some kind of drugs to make him appear normal for a press conference or a brief public appearance;;; to read off a teleprompter. Or walk up stairs. Or give a short address?

What would such a cocktail be made up of? Cocaine? Amphetamines? Are there things that are on the pharma schedule that can be used (unethically) to bring back someone for a few minutes or lucidity? Or to allow them to look like they are actually not completely in la-la land?

I'm curious if this is tinfoil hat stuff? Or if our POTUS could legitimately have 'doctors' shooting him up with enough pharma to make him functional a few minutes at a time. If it's possible... how long can it be kept up? How bad for the patient are such 'treatments?' Is it even ethical in the medical community? Do such drugs (individually or in combination) even exist?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Cheers,

Sirhr

223 80g ELDM 28"

I just ordered a Bartlein 29" 8 twist heavy varmint for a LR 223 build. Going to shoot the 75/80g ELDMs as a trainer to my 6 creed and 7-300 Win mag. Building off a Rem 700, Greyboe Renegade with M5 mags so COAL will be 2.55" My goal is to try and get the 75s to 3000-3050 and the 80s to 2900-2950.

With that said, what are some of the better powders for speed, accuracy, and consistency? Say top 3-5 powders? I don't have much faster than H4350, and I'm not super familiar with the 223 and 75-80s. Super excited for this build. Been wanting a LR 223 for quite some time now. Thanks!

Alexai Navalny (Putin#1 political opponent) announced dead in Siberian "Death Prison"

Just annouced by Anothony Blinken - Russia/Putin so evil attacking its political oponents and putting them in jail.

Putin critic Alexei Navalny dead at 47, Russian officials say

Navalny was being held at the IK-3 penal colony, also known as "Polar Wolf," in Kharp in northern Russia, which is considered one of the country's toughest prisons.

Previously, Russian authorities had held him at a facility roughly 145 miles east of Moscow. Navalny’s team lost contact with him after he failed to appear in court via video link for a hearing on Dec. 5, kicking off a desperate search until he resurfaced in Kharp around Christmas.

Vice President Kamala Harris said Friday that reports of Navalny's death are "terrible news, which we are working to confirm."

"My prayers are with his family, including his wife, Yulia, who is with us today. And if confirmed, this would be a further sign of Putin's brutality," she continued. "Whatever story they tell, let us be clear: Russia is responsible. And we will have more to say on this later."

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Friday that Navalny's "death in a Russian prison and the fixation and fear of one man only underscores the weakness and rot at the heart of the system that Putin has built."
