Tl;dr: Looking for an alternative go fast reticle/scope to the Athlon 2-12

I was settled on an Athlon helo 2-12 for a dmr scope for gun runs, dmr and a few PRs matches but all the mil versions are out of stock everywhere with estimated replacement of Oct 25.

It looks like a gen 3 razor 1-10 has a similar reticle but at 3x the price and I’m worried about FOV during PRS. There is a Leupy mk 4hd 2-10 in the classifieds with a good price but tmr reticle.

NF nx8 line can be had reasonable, but again lacking that useful reticle at low magnification.

Any thoughts at around $1500 or less?

My wife gave me the go ahead to build a PRS rifle so I can’t afford to screw this up lol. This is going to be a buy once cry once scenario. I saw the Spuhr SICS in person at Mile High and really liked it so I feel pretty confident about using that for the chassis. The ACC Elite would be the other option I would consider.

The big question I have is what action to use? The three that interest me are the CDG, 737r or Fuzion. I currently reload for 6.5 Creedmor and plan to stick with it or another .308 bolt face cartridge for the foreseeable future. I will definitely be using a trigger tech diamond. Not married to the idea but would like to use AW magazines. I’m also planning to use mostly prefits. All that considered what are your thoughts?

I have a Benelli M1 super 90 that is stamped with H&K. I still have the box and I never use it. Originally was purchased for helicopter hog hunts but don't use it anymore. I am asking $1,100 plus shipping.

I shot Altus' AI classic this weekend. I used my better half's 6mm Creedmoor. It's an Impact action with a Proof prethreaded competition profile barrel. The rifle has maybe 100 rounds through it until Saturday. Hornady 108gr ELD-M ammo was being used. The problem I had through out the match was when I seated a round and time was called, more than once (SEVEN times actually), I would go to clear the rifle and the unfired round would come apart with the bullet stuck in the barrel and the case and unfired powder ejecting from the action. A couple people suggested that the ammo is crappy, another couple more said carbon build up. I've never had a problem with Hornady match ammo before and I run it in my 6.5cm with no problems...

I’m currently developing loads for my 300 Norma Magnum using 250gr Hornady A-TIP bullets and Winchester StaBALL HD powder. I’ve attached some data from my recent testing, specifically at 80 grains of StaBALL HD powder, but I’m not achieving the standard deviation (SD) numbers I had hoped for.

Summary of My Data:


• Bullet: Hornady 250gr A-TIP
• Powder: Winchester StaBALL HD
• Charge: 80 grains

• Results: SD higher than desired, inconsistent velocities. Between 12-18.

Given these results, I’m seeking your experiences and recommendations:


1. What powder charges and powders are you finding successful for low SD and consistent velocities with the 300 Norma Magnum, particularly with heavier bullets like the 250gr A-TIP?


2. Has anyone compared StaBALL HD directly with H1000 or N570 in terms of consistency, velocity, and barrel erosion? What were your findings?


3. I’m also concerned about barrel longevity and throat erosion. How has StaBALL HD impacted your barrels compared to known powders like H1000 or N570?

I appreciate your insights, recommendations, and any load specifics you are comfortable sharing.

I leveled Spuhr mount with its bubble. Then flashlight in objective to plumb line shadow on wall. Nothing else levels out.
Put level on scope, mount, or gun everything is canted. I am going with plumb line and gravity.

I do some fine tuning trying to get scope, mount or gun level with bubble and MDT send it stays solid green saying its good () the whole time even as plumb line shadow shows me how crooked the scope is.

Brand new rifle that I was trying to rough sight in for my brother is shooting higher at a 100yds than I have adjustment for. The rifle is an Aero Solus action which has a 20moa rail with a PVA 18” 6.5 cm barrel, was the Black Friday PVA daily deal. Chassis is an XLR Element 4.0, Vortex Razor HD Gen 3 6-36 mrad mounted on an American Rifle Co M-Brace mount with 0 Mil / 0 Moa angle.

For me to get the rifle near center at a 100yds I’m having to hold under at the 4 on the cross hairs. What are my options to fix this issue?
