Just a heads up, according to the Firearms Policy Coalition, Biden and team are going to make it illegal for people to sell 5.56/.223 to civilians. I’m not sure what FPCs plan of action is to fight this but it might be worth donating to their cause. Frankly, I’m not sure how he can do this because as we all know you can use these rounds in something other than an AR and regardless, blocking ammo sales seems to me like a roundabout way of blocking your 2A rights, which means it will eventually go to the courts but might be in place until that happens and based on recent court happenings I’m not putting a lot of faith in them either. We need t be fighting this toot and nail. I would say just say no but considering most firearms companies quickly capitulate to any government rules then I don’t expect much of a fight from them. One plant he wants to shut down for sure for any civvy production is Lake City. This will place even more strain on an already strained market as they currently produce about 1/3 of all 5.56 currently.

Major update*** the above is what Biden and team want to do. All he is actually doing right now is saying that Lake City cannot sell to civilians which basically means someone else will likely pick up the slack, if they can but given that I’m told they can’t produce enough as it is, this isn’t a good thing for the market.

I mounted an Impact 737 in it put a bipod on it and shot it about 50 times, just don’t like it like I like my chassis. Its like brand new. Save the wait and tax on a new one..

Took our oldest to the range with his new rifle his uncle built him. We were shooting 5.56 through it and it would shoot but not extract. Pics below of the brass aftermath. Tried 223 and it would shoot, eject, shoot another but only halfway eject while it tried to cycle another round in. The RO and someone else tried diagnosing it to no avail. We swapped the bcg for mine and it had the same issue, although I don’t think mine was shearing the brass like his. What could be causing the issue?

My thoughts?
1. Not chambered for 5.56
2. Gas tube issue/pressure issue
3. It didn’t seem to like the mags I brought for it but he left his at home his uncle gave him.

It’s an Anderson lower and I don’t know about the upper.

Any thoughts about it?

Selling a lot of 42 pmags. The majority of them are brand new and have never had a round loaded, some have been lightly used but no range mags that have been dropped and such.

There are 42 mags total. 37x 30rd and 5x 20rd. The 20rd are all gen 3 and the 30 rounds are mostly gen 2 with a couple gen 1’s mixed in. Most have dust covers but some don’t. I have a few more dust covers floating around that I’ll find too. 1 or two are window mags as well. I feel like I have a couple more mags somewhere too and I’ll include those as well.

I bought this from the original owner, it has had ~600 rounds through it. I've fired a few rounds for function check, shoots smooth and easy on brass. My group was shot with a SAS Reaper.

This rifle has been used in matches and shows some minor paint wear on the front hand guard area, some smudges on the receivers, very nice condition overall. It has been wiped down with oil if you see different shades, its all one color when dry.

So a bunch of years ago, I bought a neat miniature gun... a 1/3rd scale replica of the Martin Aiken rifle that was presented to him and his boy soldiers after the Battle of Plattsburg. It's a Hall Rifle, which was America's first Breechloader. Also the first produced with gauge blocks and totally interchangeable parts.



Above is my miniature. And below is the stock plate on the miniature. This is the replica of the gun in the Battle Museum at Plattsburgh, NY.



For those not familiar with the story, a wonderful little book called "Nine Days a Soldier" tells the story of the boys who helped stop the British at Plattsburgh during the War of 1812. Baltimore and the burning of the White House were the distraction. The British sent 14,000 troops against 1000 militia at Plattsburgh with the intent of taking Lake Champlain and cleaving New England off of the United States to put everything from Montreal to New York City back under British Control.

They lost. A handful of militia, for lack of a better term, tore them to shreds in the woods of upstate New York. About 1200 Vermont militia rowed across the lake to back up the New Yorkers. Outnumbered 5 to 1, the Americans sent the British packing once and for all. A group of schoolboys, too young to enlist, formed a volunteer militia and, over 9 days, distinguished themselves to such a degree that the Commanding United States general promised to give them rifles as rewards for their heroism. It took almost 20 years go get Congress to cough up the rifles. But they were duly awarded. To each boy (now man) with a plaque attached.

I decided I need to make a full-size replica. The Rifle Shoppe makes a castings kit. So... I ordered that. Two years later, it finally arrived. And I started building the rifle a few weeks ago.



Here is the Breech casting. I'll need to get it engraved again. But I have the info.

Here is a good picture of an original. I don't have a heck of a lot to go on.... prints are not available and there is only one set of gauge blocks that survives at Harpers Ferry Arsenal. And they won't loan them to me. Sadly.

Here's my metalwork, finally 'almost' closing on its own. I just silver soldered in the breech stop. And will finish lapping and filing the breech mechanism tomorrow.

These actually have somewhat of a 'snipery' history as these were issued to 'elite' units. Foragers. Rangers. Marksmen, etc. I think about 20,000 were made starting about 1819. And some (caplocks) were in use up to the Civil War. A lot in the Mexican War still in flintlock form. They are neat rifles and reflect how advanced the US Army really was in the early 1800's when the American System of Manufacturing was taking off.

Apparently some British officers who visited the Springfield Armory in the 1830's and saw American Manufacturing techniques were utterly terrified by the efficiency and capability. They went back to London and made such an impression that the British Government ordered a complete set of machine tools from... the USA.

Anyway, I'll post more as the progress continues. It's going to be a fun one to finish up! Though I won't do the stocking. I can't do compound curves to save my life.

Been wanting to build a bigger rifle for awhile. Primarily shoot 6bra, 223, 6.5x47. Have a 6.5prc for hunting but I think it's time for something bigger. So what is the baddest mag fed 30 or 338 cal rifle to have. Considering a 300norma improved but I think a 338 enabler would be pretty sweet but that might be bigger than I want to feed.

I've only mounted it to the bench and its just been unused since. I have to off load anything that is not being used.
