tight chamber?

I am working up some loads for a new rifle (22GT) and the chamber seems a bit tight. I am using a hornady OAL gauge like I always do to figure out what length to load at. I have done this on dozens of rifles and never experienced this before. While I can fit the modified case (that I bought from Alpha) or my new Alpha brass in the chamber all the way by hand it takes a lot of force and is fairly difficult to pull out. It can be inserted and removed by hand but barely. After trying this numerous times I can see the wear marks on the brass and it is uniform across the body. It iis not the neck or shoulder. Is this anything to be concerned about?

Any Long Range shooting or PRS within 1hr of Heber City UT?

Likely moving to Heber City UT and was surprised to see that the closest long distance range was 1.5 hours away in Perry.

Also noticed that the only PRS matches are North Utah and Central Utah - both about 2-3 hours away from Heber.

For those familiar with the area, is there any long distance shooting or matches closer than that? Or is there at least BLM land that’s safe to put out a target 500-1000yds where there’s not people shooting around you?

Gunsmithing Muzzle brake ruins muzzle crown

I'll try to make this short. I added a clamp-on muzzle brake to my RRA heavy bbl varmint gun. Before muzzle brake, rifle shot consistent 1/2 MOA groups. I noticed a gradual reduction in accuracy over the next 500 rounds to where I thought my bbl was wearing out. Bbl cleanliness good through life of bbl. Total 1500 rounds through 223 Wylde bbl. Bore scope indicated nothing wrong with lands and grooves to indicate wear using the Teslong 45 degree mirror (90 degree view angle). However, when the Teslong passed through the crown, I noticed a fuzziness at the crown. I changed to the 25 degree mirror on the Teslong, As I approached the crown, I could see very deep channels leading to the crown. Those channels were not visible with the 90 view. My bbl had a recessed crown. The brake fit tightly and squarely to the muzzle. I have come to the conclusion that the addition of the brake was causing gas-cutting on the crown. I pulled the brake off and re-crowned the muzzle with a target crown. The gun is now back to shooting 1/2 MOA. I highly recommend anyone using a clamp-on muzzle brake examine your crown with a borescope using an angle other than 90 degree view. Sorry, no pics.

Does anyone else get frustrated reloading

Maybe I'm totally OCD, but it seems like I screw the pooch all the time on reloading. Can't quite get my shoulder bump right. Load too long, get pressure signs, just generally always fucking up (stoopid locking rings from the other night).

I'll watch videos and people get their .002 bump and I've never gotten that, and I can't even keep it consistent for some reason. I set it and then some are okay, some are not.

My 6GT is so damn short that even at 2.500 is was jammed into the lands and causing pressure spikes with 33.5 Grains of varget.

Maybe I'm just bitching out loud after a hard week in the reloading room, but it seems like I'm the only one who ever screws up. Example: ruined a perfectly good piece of brass by accidently smacking it off center into a mandrel.

Anyone else feel that or is everyone a smooth reloader and I should take up knitting?

Seeing a 22lr in flight

What does it take to see a 22LR bullet in flight? I was shooting today at 200 and 300 yards and do not believe I saw any bullets. I know I've seen them in the past but did not see any today. Do I need better lighting, better scope or better eyes? Today it was overcast with a few quick showers shooting center x. Scope is a razor G3 6X36 on 36 power. The berms are grass and dirt, targets are smallish white steel. The 4 berms are 50, 100, 200 and 300

And much to my surprise. I shot a group at 200 before the rain started in pretty hard. Then shot another group. Same size same position. How is that possible? Rain drops don’t affect the bullets path or the bullets squeezed between every drop for 200 yards?

U.S. Engineers Find ‘Rogue Communication Devices’ in Chinese Solar Panels

U.S. engineers have discovered mysterious, undocumented communication devices lurking in some Chinese-made solar power inverters and batteries Reuters reported.
“The rogue components provide additional, undocumented communication channels that could allow firewalls to be circumvented remotely, with potentially catastrophic consequences,” said Reuters’ sources, who spoke anonymously because they had not been given permission to speak on the record.
The story illustrates a security issue that has haunted analysts since the dawn of the “Internet of Things,” the sudden craze for adding Internet connectivity to all manner of devices, from household appliances to industrial machinery.
The number of devices broadcasting information online has grown exponentially since the turn of the millennium – and so has the danger that some of those devices could be spying on their users, or opening back doors into secure networks.
In the case of the suspicious Chinese power inverters, the devices were designed to connect solar panel arrays and windmills to power grids. They have Internet capability, so their performance can be monitored and their software can be updated easily.
Knowing this to be standard practice, the information technology teams at solar and wind farms set up firewalls as a precaution to prevent the devices from sending unauthorized signals. They also physically inspect equipment from China to look for bugs, and they find them with shocking regularity.
“The two people declined to name the Chinese manufacturers of the inverters and batteries with extra communication devices, nor say how many they had found in total. The existence of the rogue devices has not previously been reported. The U.S. government has not publicly acknowledged the discoveries,” Reuters reported.
These “rogue communications devices” could do a lot more than just spy on the American power grids that use them. Cybersecurity experts have long warned that hostile powers are very interested in targeting American infrastructure. Hidden Internet connections could allow an attacker to shut down power grids or damage sensitive machinery.
This is not a purely hypothetical threat. On November 15, 2024, users of inverters manufactured by a Chinese company called Deye reported their units suddenly displayed pop-up error messages and became “bricked,” or unusable.
Deye said the units were sold without proper authorization, outside of their distribution contracts for the Western hemisphere, and the simultaneous brickings occurred not because they sent a kill command over the Internet, but rather because the unauthorized units did not receive scheduled firmware updates.
Some users doubt the company’s explanation, and continue to believe Deye did use remote commands to kill the inverters. Whatever the exact scenario was, the incident was an unwelcome reminder for solar panel owners that their equipment could be controlled or shut down using the Internet.
Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) in the House, and Sens. Rick Scott (R-FL) and Maggie Hassan (D-MA), have introduced legislation to “decouple” U.S. companies from batteries made by Chinese companies. Cybersecurity vulnerability was listed as one of the most important reasons to move away from Chinese equipment.
“With our nation currently sourcing a majority of its batteries from Chinese-linked manufacturers, we’re subject to a major, unnecessary risk to our national security,” Sen. Scott said in February.
Other countries have also passed legislation based on the risks posed by Chinese power equipment. Lithuania passed a law in November requiring power plant operators to install cybersecurity defenses to prevent tampering with their Chinese hardware, as occurred in the Deye incident. The law banned Chinese manufacturers from remotely accessing systems they supply to Lithuania.
Some U.S. power companies, notably including Florida Power & Light (FPL), have launched their own initiatives to minimize reliance on Chinese power inverters and batteries.
China is the largest supplier of inverters by a significant margin. One Chinese company, electronics and telecom giant Huawei, accounts for almost 30 percent of the global supply, although it exited from the U.S. market in 2019 after its 5G networking hardware was banned.

Best Sub $750 optic for target and varmint - 2025

Another one of these threads sorry in advance. I am looking for a scope that is around the 5-25 power. Sub $750. I want at least 5 on the low end 25 on the max. FFP IR MIL, 34mm tube. This gun will sit on a varmint and target trainer rifle. I will also use it for 600 yard PRS matches. The gun is chambered in 223 with a throat and magazine that can accommodate heavy for caliber high bc bullets that the 22 arc would launch. My goal is to shoot varmint out to 600 yards. So my need on the clarity side is at 25 power I want to be able to see coyotes/dogs etc. at 600 yards.

I have looked at the following and am having trouble because I cannot look through them all side by side. Main contenders are strike eagle 5-25x56, Arken EP5 5-25 and the Gen 2 Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30. I've never owned athlon or looked through one. The reticle seems good but I've read they have some tunneling. I really like on the strike eagles how the eyebox has almost no tunneling the body just disappears. The arken reticle and ir is actually preferred, I have found in low light fully illuminated reticles really block your vision. The strike eagles ilum is too much and not useful for low light. So in summary arken has preferred reticle as it's kind of hybrid target and hunting, strike eagle for the thin eyebox effect and athlon ares I have no experience and I hear lots of hyperbole on glass quality which I no longer believe what I read on the Internet lol. My thought is the glass on all three should be relatively close but you have people saying arken is just as good as night force atacr, same thing with ares oddly enough there are hyperbolic reviews of the strike eagle as well as a lot of people call them pieces of shit lol. Your insight and expertise is greatly appreciated...

House Budget Proposal to remove Tax on Suppressors but not remove it from the NFA

It's a step but not a big enough step (IMO the NFA is un-Constitutional and should go away like the ATF).

Basically, the proposal would bring the $200 tax to $0 but you would still have the commie NFA registration.

Trump surrenders to AQ Emir

Excuse me... what?

What possible reason could exist for the American President to surrender to the current leader of al Qaeda in Syria?

We're all tracking that the destruction of secular parliamentary democracy in Iraq led to the formation of an Iranian puppet gov in Baghdad and later a Salafist/ Wahabist terror state in the north, with its capital temporarily in Syria.

We're all tracking that AQ blended into "ISIS"/ Daesh, which during the collapse of the Caliphate led to the split where Jabhat al Nusra denied the authority of Abu Bakr al Baghdadi (Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim Ali al-Badri) and re-pledged their allegiance to AQ and their leadership in the Terror Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

What a lot of dudes miss is that Abu Mohammed al Jolani (Ahmed al Sharah) was the Syrian counterpart to Abu Musab al Zarqawi in Iraq, and that as an Emir in AQ, he didn't want to lose his high rank in AQ to be a cog in the machine of the Caliphate.

...and so he changed the name of his Terror Group from Jabhat al Nusra to Jabhat Fatah al Sham to Hayat Tahrir al Sham to... The Government of Syria after his Jihadi Blitzkrieg a few months ago.

So, since then, Trump has been itching to surrender to whoever is in charge over there- as part of the Trump Doctrine of Global Surrender.

PROBLEM, though- the Jihadist massacre has not stopped. Alawites in the coastal region are still being slaughtered by AQ.

So... WHY, I WONDER... would the American President show up in the Terror Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, surrender to al Qaeda, and drop all the sanctions?
