If you have Amazon Prime Video they have a documentary about the Garage 56 NASCAR entry into Le Mans in 2023, going through the development of the car, practice sessions, and race footage. I loved it, lots and lots of great footage, great V8 sounds, and a great display of American ingenuity, the perfect lead up to Fourth of July.



The Garage 56 pit crew won the pit crew challenge before the start of the race so the drivers cleared the crowd for them on the way to the podium. Taking the jack with them was symbolic because the other cars used hydraulic jacks and they still got beat.

I just got the 4th of July email from ER Shaw, popped over to their site, and they are now offering barrels wrapped in a titanium sleeve, much like a carbon fiber barrel. They look great in the pictures, cost less than cf barrels, and I could easily see why titanium would be superior to cf in this application. It's significantly stiffer, it's a conductor instead of an insulator, cooling should be much better.

Has anyone been shooting any of these yet? Is this the future?

As far as modern movies go, it looks decent. The 1987 flick is pretty hard to beat.

Opened it up but haven't ever used it. Brand new.

So i am hoping to get some education here. I've spent a lot of time behind rifles both professionally and recreationally but i dont know a lot about AR type platforms in the way of brands and all the companies that make parts for them. I am looking to get a MK18 style rifle with a folding buttstock or "arm brace." I went to several stores today to price things out and I realize that you get what you pay for but there are so many brands out there i am unfamiliar with. I think i'd like to start with something middle of the road and upgrade later.
This rifle will be for the purpose of self defense so i'd pick reliability over a lower price tag but I also dont need a match rifle either- minute of man will do. A couple a manufacturers that caught my eye were Aero Precison and the Sig M400. Am i on the right track here? Is there a better rifle out there that I should be looking at or is it worth the step up to buy something like a Daniel Defense?

My guess is the seating stem has to narrow of a “cup” for the nose of the bullet? What’s the best way to resolve this? I have heard you can get different stems for different bullet profiles?
