Favorite Podcast

What’s everyone’s favorite podcast? I’m hoping to add 2-3 to my rotation. Currently I listen to Joe Rogan (mostly) and Shawn Ryan Show.

Joe Rogan has such an array of people on and his conversational skills are why I listen to him the most. Really looking to find something similar to that, although I always skip all the fight companion episodes.

Shawn Ryan has some interesting guests as well but it’s mostly military stuff that gets repetitive.

End "early voting" and implement a voting holiday.

End "early voting" period. Make mail in ballots by request only to everyone except Active Duty military, and deployed government officials (Ambassadors etc....). Have mobile, or satellite Identification Offices to issue a state ID, not a full service DMV, for voting purposes. Create a 4 day Federal holiday of Friday until Monday for voting. In person with proper identification. All tallying must be completed within 24 hours with the exception of mail in ballots postmarked by midnight election night, and delivered within 3 days of election.

GOLD STANDARD of election integrity????

Secretary of State for the state of Colorado just admitted that a file “accidentally” posted to a publicly accessible section of the states website contained voter ID passwords and other sensitive information- from August through late October of this year .

A yo r could use said information to register, vote, change passwords or party affiliation. But she maintained that CO remains the “Golden Standard” of election integrity!!!!

SOLD 2015 Accuracy International AX SA .308 20" Pale Brown

Selling a used AI AX308. This is a post-2014 (2015) model with the ability to swap barrels by simply loosening the tightening nut. This rifle comes with the OEM AI 20" barrel chambered for .308. The round count is unknown as I bought the rifle used, but I have put around 2000 rounds on the barrel and it still groups sub-moa with ease. Also included is the AI muzzle brake and OEM AI magazine in Pale Brown.

SOLD

Zelle, USPS MO for payment. Would also prefer a FTF here in DFW, but we can discuss shipping options. If your receiving FFL requires I send from an FFL we can work that out as well.

The only trades id be interested in would be some sort of trade deal on a AI AW or KAC SR25 EC or EMC.

Please note: The bipod is not included.

Reliable AR10 style that's reliable for "plinking"?

Somehow or another rifles like the Sig 716i, and Ruger SFAR are popping up in my emails and it got me thinking. Those are two examples, and I know there more comparable rifles out there. One thing though is that I just can't stand a rifle that doesn't run reliably. I know if I was going to max a rifle out for competition I'd be looking in the Seekins SP10 class of rifle, but for something that runs reliably and accurate enough to enjoy at the range or light enough to take hunting I'm just curious on what's out there. I could get talked into either a 308 or 6.5cm because I'm a fan of both. I don't know that I'd shoot a competition with the gas gun, so it doesn't need to be hair splitting accurate, but it's gotta shoot better than my M1A scout, lol.

Thanks,

SOLD SPF PSA Jakl 556

PSA JAKL 13.7 5.56 FDE rifle with pin and welded keymo flash hider, upgraded charging handle, ambi- safety, full length handguard, and one mag.

I have run 200 flawless rounds through it. These rifles are fun to shoot and will scratch the SCAR-L itch without wiping out your bank account.

I'm selling because this was part of a trade deal and I am on a bullpup kick right now.

The rifle shows signs of use(mounting marks paint scratches, etc), but it isn't abused.

$SPF

I'm willing to take some trades +/- cash for the right deal. NO GLOCKS, P320S, OR GARAGE BUILDS PLEASE! Some trade interest for me are:
Bullpups, VHS-2/Hellion, WLVRN, and some semi auto pistols, Garmin's new chrono, tactical gear etc.

LIGHT, RAIL SECTION, SLING MOUNT, AND OPTIC AND MOUNT NOT INCLUDED.

Daughters first deer rifle

Hey guys. I want to get my 17 year old daughter a Ruger American Gen 2 for Christmas. She's hunted and shot with me for years. She's no problem but pretty proficient. Right now she's been shooting a Gen 1 American 16" .308 with a spiral break.

I'm stuck between a .270, 6.5 PRC, and 6.5 CM.

My boy shoots a 270, my dad and father in law did too but l personally have no real experience with them. For some reason this sounds good to me.

Everyone else in my world says go 6.5 CM and l have to admit it's prob perfect on paper. She's tough but a pretty small framed girl.

The 6.5 PRC seems perfect but not sure about price and long term availability of ammo.

What would you guys do?

Also would you buy now when available or wait for a Christmas deal and hope they are available?

Firearms ***OFF MARKET***GAP Gladius .308 + Surefire FA762SS

WTS/WTT my GA Precision Gladius chambered in .308 with Surefire FA762SS suppressor (optic/bipod not included). Roughly 700rds through the GAP. Still prints sub MOA, however there's some dings on the receiver from sitting in the safe. I don't know the true round count on the FA762SS since I'm the second owner, but I have roughly 200rds through it. Open to trades but mainly looking for an AI ATX, or similar, chambered in 6.5CM. Asking for $7500 shipped + dealer stamp. I have reviews on tacswap username molon_all_the_labes.

Thermal Advice

Looking to purchase my first thermal in the near future and could use some advice. It will be used on a AR10 .308. I’d like to stick to under $3K if possible but my absolute max is $4K. I’m currently using a Sightmark Wraith 4K DNV optic. I don’t hunt open fields. I’m shooting down senderos where a feeder is set up around 100 yards down in South Texas. This is mainly for hog hunting. I do like having magnification since my eyesight isn’t the greatest, so being able to zoom in for shot placement is important. Don’t want anything with an internal battery. Any advice would be much appreciated. These are some that I took a quick look at.

Best Hub Adapter/Brake setup for Suppressor

I am looking to purchase a couple more suppressors and I am considering the purchase of the 1.375” hub mount versions. If given the option, which hub/muzzle brake interface do you recommend. I will be using them on a large frame AR, small frame AR and potentially a bolt action.

I see the silencerco, griffin and deadair systems but I am not sure what else is out there.

Any recommendations?

I got to Watch Every Competitor

MLSC24_Frank_Galli-44.jpg

While it's not the first time I have RO'd a match, this most recent time was nice mix of shooters. From established PRS Competitors to Military Teams, to newer shooters looking to gain experience. This does tie into the Contrived post I made, as this goes in the other direction.

Watching every shooter solve a stage is very good way to look at matches. It's a deep dive into all sides of the match, from the perspective of the match director, what were they thinking, to the translation by the competitors, it gives a nice overview of where people stand in the competition world today.

My first day stage was 3 targets inside 100 to be shot unsupported standing then movement to a position in order to engage a target across the valley at 730 yards.
IMG_1781.JPG
The second day, it was a handgun stage, 3 targets 15 to 25 yards away, then movement to the same location to shoot a small target across the valley at 800 yards.
IMG_1768.JPG
There was a nice variety of talent on the hill, so it was nice to every options tried.

To me, it was about the process...

From the moment you approach the Range Officer, to end of the stage, I want to see how you address your equipment, yourself, what is your process ? My basic observations from this point:

98% don't have a process...

Where does my rifle and pack go, most copied the guys in front of them. Several asked me, where do I put my rifle, and even more wasted about 40 seconds trying to decide.

The lack of shooter education shows, the guys who constantly compete, they have a plan, some of them, the rest wing it as they go. Even in the team setting, who does what, why, and where will be position ourselves is lost on most. They get in each other's way.
MLSC24_Frank_Galli-30.jpg

It was crazy, one team, a very good team from the military, Tier One dudes, asked me some questions about the Kraft Quick Wind on Friday during my clinic, the next day on my stage they were talking to each other in MPH for the winds across the way. The answer after the first guy shot, 3 MPH coming from the left.

I was actually very surprised by my observations in terms of the big picture. I expected my opinion to be smaller when you put rifle to target under the clock. In a way it has gotten no better, sure equipment has, the tripods are the real heroes today, as well as the calibers / cartridges that mitigate recoil.

Other observations, using the bags on the tripod without either actually set correctly, meaning it falls off after the 1st or 2nd shot. As well the idea of going to the Game Changer when clipping in was available, using a good equipment, or putting the Game Changer on a ball head that pushes the bag off during recoil. If you look at the Apex of the tripods, the number of shooters who have their Apex completely out of whack was very high. As in, the legs are wildly out of shape causing the tripod to be off center.
MLSC24_Full-521.jpg

Gear management was lacking in a big way, one of the military teams came through, the junior shooter needed in his bag right as he came to the line. He could not find what he was looking for, and I joked to the senior shooter, "Is he a PFC?" and the reply was, he acts like it. This was common, guys carrying too much gear, or not being able to access what they needed in time, on the clock or off.
MLSC24_Full-522.jpg

This why contrived stages and match design hurts people in the long run. There is no real goal, they get to carry stuff any way they want, doesn't matter, unlike making guys start a stage the same way with gear stowed, and they deployed on the clock. it would create a method and process that doesn't exist today.

When left on their own, people will trial and error anything, but when you create a system to educate, this stuff grows much faster, and with better results sooner. To me, this stuff has hit a plateau ... I think it has been watered down to the point the learning is over, now you are capped at the level of your equipment.
