Finally, proof!!!!

I've been saying for more than 20 years that "Doctors without Borders" is basically a terrorist support organization and that its 'efforts' do little more than prop up corrupt socialist governments and terrorist organizations.

"Oh no... they are such good people," Ba ba ba ba.... say the idiots.

No.... they are activist pieces of shit and what they are 'advocating' has been nothing short of supporting terrorists. In some cases their "we know no borders" 'colleagues' have been members of (or agents for) foreign intelligence services. And terrorists themselves.

Since one of them just got kak'd by Israel... because he was actively fighting for Hamas... suddenly there is some proof out there. Yes, Mr. "Dr. Livingston wannabe" was a member of Islamic Jihad (supported by Iran). And worked extensively on the Hamas rocket program -- actively building rockets. He was an active and practicing... terrorist. Not a doctor. Not without borders (except his stated goal of wanting to destroy Israel's borders... ) He was a terrorist.

Oh and "Doctor?" He was a physical therapist. Yeah, you need a lot of those in front line hospitals... And in terrorist militia HQ units organizing... missile strikes.

Doctors without Borders is a criminal terrorist front organization... and needs to be not only shut down, but their leadership treated like the terror-supporters they are.

Kudos to the sawbones who are putting themselves in the line of fire to help people through 'legitimate' means. But if they sign on with Doctors Without Borders... they have gone from Healer to Terrorist... period.

Gunsmithing Couple of methods of finding the lands and how I found the results to compare

I have been using a Hornady OAL gauge to find distance to the lands in support of selecting seating depth.

Although it is often criticized, I found that in taking a series of measurements with the OAL gauge, it quickly became apparent which of those few that were outliers (mostly stopping at some initial resistance and not really getting to the lands) vs those that were a set of very consistent measurements which are valid and useful.

Many of you are far more experienced in popping your bolts apart may choose to use the Alex Wheeler method (vid on his website)

Greg Dykstra of Primal Rights has a video on a similar process to Mr. Wheeler's

But, I don't routinely take my bolts apart (probably should gain some experience with this) and as said, the OAL gauge seemed to work fairly consistently with a bit of practice.

But I just got a pre-fit barrel back and with it new and in hand (i.e. not screwed into an action), I thought it would be a good opportunity to compare the results of OAL gauge measurements with the method Cal of Precision Rifle Blog attributes to Mark Gordon of Short Action Custom (but maybe there were other earlier advocates of this method).

That vid can be found below but basically you drop a sized case into the chamber of a barrel with bullet seated long, give the base of the cartridge a couple of taps, then see if you can extract it easily using just the nail on your pinky finger. Now, of course it will be obvious when the bullet is seated very long to start as the base will be proud of the chamber. But once you get close and the case pretty much looks flush at a glance, then this pinky thing works well. Just keep increasing seating depth until you can drop the case in, give it a couple of light taps, and easily extract it with your small finger nail and can do this three times in a row (just for higher degree of validation, IMO).

That vid is here:

So, a few days ago I did both OAL and the "Mark Gordon" method and found very consistent results with both and only .004" difference in results in the two methods.

Perhaps for some types of competition (e.g. bench rest), .004" is significant, but its not to me. Not when we can easily burn the throat back .003" or more per 100 rounds. So, I'd be fine with the OAL results but with a prefit I don't think I'd have any issue with pulling the barrel and redoing the Gordon method as some significant number of rounds down the tube.

So, I'm going with the figure from the Gordon method (and by the by, I did it well more than 3 times and found it generated highly consistent results.

For most of you experts this is like reloading kindergarten but I enjoyed this little experiment and perhaps it will be valuable to to new and/or less experts shooters.

Consider it a public service message! 😜 😜😜😜

Cheers

Stripped out action screw on a 10/22

A close family member of mine has a Ruger 10/22 that they put a Kidd barrel on and a KRG Bravo on (at my suggestion). I don't know why, but they clean it after every range trip (maybe 50 rounds when they go). I don't know what happened but they stripped out the action screw in the receiver... before they buy another receiver, is this one salvageable?

It seems to me the best option is to ream this out and tap it for the next size up, but I realize that would change the torque value needed when installing it in the Bravo. Does anyone know how to compute the new torque value needed? Also, what is the recommended torque value that KRG suggests? I don't own a 10/22 and this family member has lost the documentation.

They asked me about using a Helicoil, but I didn't think that was a great idea as this 10/22 is used for "precision" and didn't think a Helicoil was the best option for that.

Anyone have any thoughts on it before he buys another receiver?

I honestly think the best option is to buy another receiver and use that with the Kidd barrel and Bravo chassis, then tap this receiver out for the next size up, slap the factory barrel and stock on it and have a 2nd rifle (10/22 in stock form).

PRS rimfire director bullies youth shooter at prize table

So the facts are out and the PRS is pretending that nothing has happened by their leadership. This guy literally bullied a youth shooter and took their prize and thinks by saying sorry that his actions should be excused by the community. If this is acceptable what else happens behind closed doors.

I’m appalled that this guy is any sort of leadership position or even thinks he deserves to represent the USA for the world shoot. He should be removed from the running immediately.

People should think hard about supporting any company or organization that allows adults to bully children.

Hats off to the NRL22 for banning him. Everyone else should grab some balls and follow suit.

Now we need to add prize table security

SXSW said it will no longer accept sponsorship by the U.S. Army or arms manufacturers.

Stating the U.S. Army backs Israel in it's war against Hamas and the gun manufacterers are just bad.

Boo fucking hoo. One more reason to avoid Austin during the music fagfest.

One year it rained and the Dillo Dirt which is Austin's hippy-cutsie name for recycled dried sewage thats used to cover the festival grounds turned back into septic sludge. The hippies rolled in shit and loved it, showing there's more than one way to catch Hepatitus in Austin.

Different neck tension and seating depth from round to round

Good morning my fellow uncle Sams misguided children. This issue has me scratching my head for real. So, to give you an overview I've been reloading for years and never experienced this. So, I'm reloading 338 Lapua, and these brass cases are on their 4th rotation of being reloaded. I didn't do anything different than all the other times I've reloaded these rounds. I clean the brass in dry media, i then remove the old primers, I anneal using the amp annealer, i then full-length size, trim, debur, seat new primers, powder drop, then seat the round. So i noticed when i full length sized, some took less effort than others, and another strange thing is then I'm using a micrometer die from Redding or another name brand which has seated the bullets perfectly previously, but when I seat the rounds some feel like it takes a normal amount of pressure to seat, and some are real easy going in, and when i measure the OAL, I get on some 2.980 which is my OAL i use, and some seat at 2.972. For the neck tension should I full length size with my bushing full length sizing die with a little smaller sized bushing die, and then run the correct mandrel die that I want to set my neck tension to get a more accurate neck tension because I'm sizing from the inside out? Also, what could possible cause my bullets to seat at different depths on a seating die that's been super accurate? Its lapua brass and Sierra HPBT 300 grains. Feels like everything is pointing to the neck tension, and neck tension has an effect on seating, but what would cause such a shift in seating depths on a micrometer die. I checked to see if anything was loose, and everything is locked down. Your thoughts?

6mm ARC Long Range Build

Hello all. Just joined the forum and this is my first information seeking post. I’m looking to build a 6mm ARC upper to go on my high quality 5.56 multi-cal lower. I spec’ed out and assembled all the parts for my 5.56 build about 15 years ago. So I’m not completely green. I’m looking to build the 6mm upper to be a strict bench rifle and I want to accurately shoot out to 1000 meters and beyond. I know I’ll need new magazines and I’ll have to change out the BCG, or at least the bolt head. There might be some other mods to my lower. But this post is specifically asking about the barrel and gas system. All over the internet, there are so many differing opinions about barrel length, twist rate, rifling and gas system length. I decided to go the round creator and I contacted Hornady. The tech guy said for my application I should get a 24” barrel with a 1:7 twist and a carbine length gas system with an adjustable gas block. I forgot to ask about 4 or 5R rifling. The recommended carbine length gas system seemed a bit short. So here I am asking you folks what you recommend based on your first-hand experience. Please understand I’m not looking for any advice or recommendations on barrel manufacturers or manufacturers of any part for that matter. This is strictly recon on barrel and gas system specs. Once I have gathered enough info and decided on what to get, I will work on who to get parts from. I pre-emptively thank anyone who contributes information to my build!

Need help with Meopta customer service

My meopta B1 15x took a dump this weekend during a match, it fogged up and now has double vision. I purchased it 4 years ago from camera land. I messaged Doug Sunday and he was awesome and responded to me the same day recommending I call Eric at meopta and gave he Eric’s phone number. I have call three times and left 2 messages and no response from Eric. Has anyone else tried to use the meopta warranty or another contact number I can try? I used the 1800 number.

Any help would be appreciated

I wouldn't call 25yrs ago "vintage" but

Ran across this photo today while looking for something else.

I never considered rifles that are only 25yrs old to be Vintage but after seeing some of the other threads in this sub-forum, I guess this counts.

Directly from the Way Back machine. This is me/KMW from November, 1999.
At the time, it was one of the biggest single jobs for me.

1719412964201.png

During this period, these type rifles and scopes were state of the art for Law Enforcement SWAT sniper deployment. Dig the SIMRAD mounting cleat.
Originally these were Remington Custom Shop 40X-repeaters in .308 Win. purchased by a Federal agency in the late 1980's.

My job was to re-machine/true all of the actions, clean up the triggers, surface grind recoil lugs then custom chamber and install Kriegers. Refinish had to be in matte black of course back then! It was a total of 40 rifles to be rebuilt, broken into two groups for this customer job.

Later, they cycled back through for new barrels again and McMillan A2 stocks.

I still have the test targets (3 groups from each rifle) and they were hammers!
Many of these rifles have rotated back through the KMW shop for re-barrels since then and a few are still in service but with different stocks. Most have been destroyed as they had new rifles built to take their place.

Rifles, scopes and non-gray hair have come a long way since then!

Armscorp "M21" Marked M14 NM Semi-Automatic Rifle with ART II Scope

Soooo.....

Many years ago as a young Marine, I remember my first M14 and it was love at first shot. I later became part of a small USMC sponsored shooting team (not the official USMC Rifle Team) and was issued a match M14 built by the USMC Rifle Team armorers. This rifle is what i first used to shoot 1000yd matches with only Iron Sights.

After more than 40 years, I have finally made the move to purchase a Armscorp "M21" Marked M14 NM Semi-Automatic Rifle with ART II Scope. In addition to this cool scope from the Viet Nam era, the barrel appears to be made by Krieger. I purchased it through the Rock Island Auction and am currently anxiously awaiting its delivery.

Can anyone point me to resources for training material on the ART II scope?
