GAP Eric Reid built M40A1/A3 Action. A couple areas where it’s not spec: bolt had a badger tac knob, and if you want to use it for a A3 it has a stock Remington recoil lug on it. Most of us knew he was a POS long before this.

Long ago in Fla we provided power for many venues. During the early 90's a US Navy Hydrofoil was docked in Tampa & needed a Mw dockside. We took a unit down an hooked her up. That afternoon we got a call from a guy with CBS who wants us to move the unit 80 feet so they could use the ship as back drop for this POS. I was called to go down & see WTF was going on, which I did. Upon arrival I found the Captain to see if he wanted it moved & to relay the cost of same. Doing it while still powering the ship would be costly, but if it could be shut down during would be much cheaper. He wanted to know who called, told him, and he said no way its getting shut down for that. The Navy would not pay that freight, which is what I suspected from the get go. Walked over to the CBS crew an told them the cost and that was when it all went to shit. They told that POS Rather and he blew a gasket. He walked over and started berating me and after about 30 seconds the Captain walked up and just rolled his eyes. Which to me was clearance to respond in hillbilly style most properly. They got their shot w/o the back round they wanted, as that genset never moved. The Captain offered me a tour and CBS wanted to go as well & he said NO. While getting the tour he was suddenly called away and over rode by higher ups, about CBS coming aboard. He just smiled and said if my Order had not get reversed by higher those "people" would have been shot if they were trying to get on here. The look in his eye convinced me he was not bluffing.

Texas, are these going to be an improvement or death traps?

Given what we know about self driving shit so far? Is quality wrenching on them going to be an issue? I mean if a brake locks up will it just drag it down the road? Or a tire blows will it just rim ride like some I've seen?

Where to send Barrel Blank to be turned into a pre-fit?

This may be a dumb question, so feel free to beat me about the head and shoulders.

I picked up a Krieger barrel blank certificate at a match for whatever I want , and don't really want to leave my action with a local smith for months for them to fit it to the action, when my action can already take a pre-fit. Who if anyone can I send the blank to have them turn it into a pre-fit? I see several sites like Bugholes, and PVA that make pre-fits, but typically it appears that they are selling the blanks as well, so I am not sure if they perform the service on a blank they did not sell.

Who would you recommend o perform such a service, or would it be better just to sell the cert to someone and take the money and put it towards a pre-fit already done?

Let the beatings begin!!!

Gavin Newsom Asks Social Media Users to Help Design New California Coin and it Blows Up in His Face.

newsom.jpg

California Governor Gavin Newsom asked social media users to help design a new $1 coin to honor the state’s innovations on Thursday, and it unsurprisingly blew up in his face.
As Gateway Pundit readers know, the Golden State is suffering from various maladies under Newsom’s watch. These include a severe homelessness epidemic, skyrocketing crime, unaffordable taxes, and high electricity costs.
This has led to a mass exodus of businesses and residents. But Newsom, for some reason, thought social media users would lavish California with praise instead.

Calling all members of the Tortured Coin Designers Department…
CA is getting its own $1 coin to honor innovation, slated to be issued in 2026 – and we need your help!
What is a CA innovation you’d like to see featured on the coin? Send ideas to: [email protected] pic.twitter.com/oOdw4qICtZ

Newsom probably wishes he never clicked “publish” because the replies he received were universally negative. Many of these focused on the filthy streets, Californians leaving for greener pastures, and even Newsom’s tyrannical COVID-19 pandemic policies.
Here are some of the most savage replies:

Optics Minox ZP5 5-25 - 1500$ - with seekins / vortex Rings

For sale I have a used Minox ZP5 5-25

It is 5 years old but hasn’t been used a ton on my backup gun. I’m downsizing to 1 gun.

This scope tracks true and I’d trust my life to it. It has no major blemishes. It does however have some discoloration on the turrets from the anodizing type they use.

I have only cleaned the lenses once and do everything I can to keep them clean. There are no scratches, water spots, etc. always use lens caps!

All turret marks line up perfectly on this one and it has really nice tactics clicks. 3rd gen turrets. Crispy!

I will post some more pictures when I get home.

Will accept all money offers. No trades please.

Marshal dead in shootout in Charlotte

I'm amazed this doesn't happen more often with the kinds of warrants that US Marshals serve. I'm sure when we find out who the perp is (most likely posthumously) he's going to be the worst of the worst.

When and Why Group Buys

Over the years, Sniper's Hide has done a ton of group buys. Some of the older members will still go that route, like @bohem did from Patriot Valley last week.

Group buys are a great way to engage the community, highlight your service or get a new product off the ground. Some notable first time group buys include Glen Seekins, the very first Seekins were released on here via a group buy.

A few things have changed over the years. In the past people didn't mind ordering it upfront, or helping them craft the product to build. Like the McMillan A5 stock that was designed on here, it became one of their most popular stocks to date. The members here over the years have asked companies to take a risk on their ideas and often they have worked out for all parties. The A5 bottom metal is one example, we launched it here to see how it worked.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few more, bigger projects, etc, every now and then someone will ask a question about it, but when they hear about changes to the model, they often say no. Guys what stuff now, nobody wants to wait, which is unfortunate as something do take time and resources. If you have them, a group buy can still work, as well to conduct market research. How will your idea be received, do people like it as is, or should you modify it ? All solid questions a company today might ask.

I have a small group buy in the works right now. This is an old school one that came back around as part of a request. So I wanted to drop a few breadcrumbs to show you what we have in mind, how we want to drop this buy, and what extras we're are putting in.

First off,

Documenting the project as you go... we started off with a question on the forum, the next step is making chips.'

Right you have to make stuff, and I need some rings, QD that wins a majority of the Army tests. Sure they might drop a competitor on top, but when you look at the numbers, this is no holds bar champ out there. Don't let em fool ya, they can replace smaller parts, bipods, slings, and mounts so the contract winner isn't always the contract company. On top of that, if they swap it out for a cheaper brand they can keep the difference.

If you ever want to an Alaska Precision Rifle class, we check scopes. Every class we check scopes. Why because scopes, mounting, came be a problem that shows up downrange. Knowing your stuff works, comes on and off correctly is important. We don't damage control the scopes too much when we see an issue, no time. Instead we swap them out and our main mount is this one.

So here is an example of the mounts. I have a very long relationship with GDI going back to Rifles Only Days.

IMG_2311.JPG

They was the Prymid from a few years ago, the version Marco is release is going to be the PROM which is the full sized model vs the smaller option.

The mounting system is really the claim to fame here. These mounts are perfect for in the field, You lock them one, you can secure even better with a 1/4 turn on the slot screws and they have near perfect return to zero.

In about 3 weeks' we'll announce a group buy, discounts for SH Members, Branded T Shirt, fast shipping. Standby

Suppressor and Estate question

I’m really curious what everyone thinks…

There are a ton of cans out there now and most people aren’t especially organized.

My guess is if the owner passes away, 1/10 estates handle them correctly.

First of all it’s a total pain in the ass and stupid but secondly as I understand the rules it’s pretty unlikely that an average person who had a suppressor or two’s spouse has the first clue what to do. And nobody is going to destroy or turn in a $1000 harmless and incredibly useful device.

My guess is there are thousands floating around, technically illegal, and I’ll bet that the owners, those who ended up with them either from dad or by buying from the widow would gladly register if they could. (Of course ladies own them too).

Two questions:

Am I right, as I understand there’s a small window in which the heir must apply just like dad did, pay $200 and a buyer must do the same and go through a FFL.

How can the law/rule be changed, what shoild the process be? Does the govt know this is a growing issue and do they care or is it just a back door confiscation mechanism? (Cans don’t belong as a class 3 to me anyway- I understand the strict controls as written for a machine gun for example but this is stupid).

If one owns one and didn’t do the steps that the ATF demands, is it possible to legally clean this up, get it stamped and above boards again? For example, wife didn’t even know what husband had. A couple of months after he died, she had a family member help get rid of all of it. They had no clue the suppressor was regulated and sold it to a neighbor, a person who wants it for hunting. He may know to buy one from a retailer, a stamp is required but this is a little different- so he wasn’t sure and later discovered the process. Is the buyer just screwed? What are they supposed to do?

Ok that’s a bunch of questions. Sorry. This topic just bugs me
