Beyond Pissed Applied Ballistics Licensing

I bought in to the Applied Ballistic's desktop program October 21st, 2020. I had initially purchased a cheap windows computer to run the software on. . . like most things I got what I paid for and the computer would not run / install programs in short order. We'll call this "license #1"

I then had an iPad Pro for a period of time. "License #2"

I "upgraded" to a MacBook Pro February 28th, 2023. . . "License #3"

The MacBook Pro screen went out on me earlier this year. Had to log in remotely and "sign out". This deleted all my apps etc. Got my Mac back with the screen fixed and @DocUSMCRetired is saying my computer is reporting a "new serial number".

I cannot be the only one experiencing trying to reinstall the Applied Ballistics Program on a computer they've had it on but needed to do a reboot on. I'm beyond pissed because at this point I'm being asked to purchase a new license.

WTF! ! ! I don't care what the software is "supposed to do" I'm on the user end saying it's not a new computer and the software is getting it wrong. I'd like to hear from you about the same to say this isn't as "isolated" as its being spun off.

I'll go to my damn grave and die on this hill that my integrity is above this software issue.

Florida Governor candidate wants to crush the 2nd Amendment

In the State of Florida we literally just got passed 2 years ago the ability to conceal carry without a CCW. I have no idea how many people legally carry guns in Florida but my guess is there are a lot of us.

This guy has to be smoking some serious weed or drinking some home brewed everclear, if he thinks he is getting elected in this state.

Sure he will get the I4 corridor, palm beach and broward county but that is about it.

Any Auto Technicians Here?

Any Auto Techs here? My buddy's 17 year old kid just cross cabled a jump start attempt. He quick pulled the cables, put them on right, got the car started, but the car will only idle and drive at about 3 mph- I read about something called Limp Mode?

Anyway, he said the battery tested good, he can run the A/C, but the engine ignores the throttle position because he thinks the computer has locked out the throttle as a precaution?

Yeah it’s expensive but it’s rare and hard to find as there is only one source

About $2500 for 920 rounds or about $2.47 a round plus shipping
it must be good it says Sig on the box after all . For the M7 rifle and the 250 machine gun -

This is the first case of the full hop 113 grain binary I’ve seen for sale . Maybe other vendors have had it but this is in stock and shipping now for any Sig fans or anyone that hates their wallet .

Figured with the heat on Sig and all the government contracts and failures this would be best suited to the pit

Tested four different barrels for my LMT 5.56mm MRP today, unscientific findings inside with photos

Several months ago, I bought a LMT MRP 5.56mm rifle during a Black Friday sale. I'm a bit of an accuracy enthusiast with AR rifles, but I also like a practical weight carbine suitable for general use.

Over the past several months, I purchased 4 different barrels for this rifle, I figured I would share my results as it might be helpful to others. I spent considerable time with each barrel over the months, each one has at least 200 rounds downrange. Today's results were fairly representative of my more extensive testing with each barrel.

Today, I fired two 5 round groups at 100 yards with each barrel, except the Bartlein barrel as this is the primary barrel I use and it has already proven to be extremely accurate. I only fired one group with the Bartlein barrel to re-zero the scope as it was getting dark. I was going to use a 32x nightforce scope for this test, but I was pressed for time, so I used the vortex 1-10 razor that lives on this rifle. All shots felt pretty good, I don't think there was much in the way of shooter error. Ideally I would have used 10 round groups, but again I was pressed for time.

All groups were fired using handloads consisting of 73 grain Berger bullets and IMR 8208. This particular load shoots as well as anything I've tried in every AR I own.

First up, the factory LMT 16 Chrome lined Barrel. This produced groups measuring 1.53 and 1.72, velocity was 2,573 with an extreme spread of 50 and SD of 15.9
1000047628.jpg

Next up was the most disappointing to me, this is an $800 Factory LMT 5r cut rifled 16" barrel. I spent considerable time with this Barrel when I bought it, it is frustrating because it wants to shoot better, but it almost always throws a shot in every group.
1000047631.jpg

Next up are two barrels that I had D Wilson convert, I'm very pleased with both of them. The first is a Daniel Defense 14.5 heavy SOCOM profile carbine length CHF Chrome lined barrel. This thing consistently hovers at or just under 1 MOA. Ejection is at 3 o'clock, it's gassed really well for a fighting carbine. Groups were .837" and .973" ( ignore the upper right target, I shot this unsupported as I was just getting on paper)
1000047606.jpg

Lastly, I re-zeroed the Bartlein barrel that I primarily run, probably pushing 1,000 rounds through this Barrel at this point. It consistently puts five rounds between .3" and .75", with numerous 10 round groups that have been in the .6's. The first cold/very clean barrel shot went slightly high, the next 4 went into .347", group size was .744" . It's worth noting that the Bartlein barrel was much faster than the 16" LMT factory barrels, 2,680 FPS, vs. an average of 2,580 FPS for the two 16" factory LMT barrels that I shot today.

1000047627.jpg

All groups were shot with a Vortex 1-10 razor, not the best optic for shooting groups, but it's very practical and it works great for the type of shooting I do. Here are some additional photos showing the barrels, rifle, stuff like that

SOLD 25 Creed Barrel

I have an Unfired 25 Creed barrel chambered by RIP precision. It’s a 27-28 inch CRB 1.25 straight 1-7.5 .175 freebore and threaded 5/8x24. Fitted for an impact action

I have another one of these I just finished up shooting I absolutely loved the first one I’m just going a different direction and looking to offload this one. 900

SOLD JP APAC Chassis with weights and bag rider and other extras

This is the shorter, earlier gen version of the APAC. This chassis is awesome. Looks rad, balances great, and the folder is the best out there, hands down. Comes with heavy steel bag rider, two pairs of weights, QD mount, and spare hardware including a spare set of action screws, plus a SAP two-round quiver. I love this chassis and have run everything from a heavy 26" barreled PRS type setup in it, to my 20" 22lr (which also balances great with a pair of weights added out front). Just have too much stuff at the moment.

Tube has a couple of bumps, see pics, the usual scuffs. It's in great shape otherwise and functions fine. Note the MDT Elite grip is NOT included, but I can throw an Ergo tactical grip on there. I do not have the original box for this one, but I will pack it well.

Not sure how to “sight in” my glock

I have a gen 5 Glock 45 that I put a zaffiri precision (spelling is probably wrong) slide and ported barrel on. I wanted to use irons so I put trijicon tough and bright sights on it and it shoots about 3 feet low at 25 yards. My shooting sucks so I had multiple other people who are decent to pretty good with a handgun shoot this thing and they all had the same results. What can I do to make the gun hit where I aim? Or do I just suck?

Rifle Scopes Vortex Factory Defect...?

Purchased a Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36 from EuroOptic that I mounted on my MRAD. Ran my new 6.5 Creed barrel over two trips to the range. My groups are wild. I'm not an expert marksman by any means, but I'm also not new to shooting (or this bad at 200 yards). Likewise, I've mounted a lot of scopes over the years; I'm fairly certain I didn't fuck anything up, like crush my tube.

These groups were shot today between 11 AM and Noon at 200 yards. Sunny, zero cloud cover. About 77 degrees, 55% humidity. Little to no wind. Factory ammo: Hornady Match. BTHP. 140gr. Benchrest with bipod and squeeze bag.

I had my dad shoot two 3-shot groups just to see if really was me. It wasn't.

I didn't do any barrel break-in for this barrel. It's chome-lined, and I'm not a big believer in break-in in general, anyway. I did clean it before shooting it (Bortech carbon remover, copper remover, EWL, dry patch).

Anyone ever have a factory defect scope like this, particularly a slightly higher-end optic? I contacted Vortex anyway, but I'm curious. I suppose it could be the barrel, but that seems somewhat unlikely.

Tactical Games Scope

I posted a thread a few months ago but thought I'd start a new thread regarding going from a 1-8 ATACR to a 3-18 scope for the tactical games. For reference I'm 55 and the eyesight ain't what it used to be. We typically shoot most of our stages with rifle anywhere from 50-100/200 yards and a couple stages out to 300-600. We also typically have one 2 gun type stage each day so an offset red dot is needed. All this varies per competition. A lot of guys have started going up to the 18x range with an offset red dot. Precision is a paramount as each miss is a 10 second penalty added to your total workout time. Advantages are you can see your target better and see your misses. With an 8x it's hard to tell if I'm missing and/or where I'm missing at longer distances. Ability to dial on certain stages is a nice option but most of the time I'll use holdovers.

As mentioned, I have an ATACR 1-8 and just bought an Athlon Helos 2-12 to try out. I like the Helos and the reticle but worried about durability and 12x. Because if 12x is nice 18x has to be nicer. lol

I think I have it narrowed dow to a few options:

Nightforce NX8 2.5-20
Leupold Mark 5hd 3.6-18
Burris XTRIII 3.3-18

Nightforce-
Things I like:
Form factor and weight
30mm tube (I have mounts already)
Durability
20x (although I probably won't go this high)
FOV is good
Illumination

Things I potentially don't like:
Tight eye box
No locking elevation turrets.

Leupold-
Things I like:
Form factor and weight
Durability
PR2 reticle
Locking elevation turrets
Proven- Elite winner uses this along with several others

Things I don't like:
Cost- I always feel like Leupold is overpriced.
35mm tube (have to buy another mount).
FOV is small
No illumination (extra cost and not available on PR2)

Burris-
Things I like:
Form factor and weight (not shortest or lightest but still acceptable).
SCR 2 reticle- it might be a little thin but I like the overall form factor.
FOV is good
Illumination and T illumination at center of reticle
Cost- almost half of the other scopes

Things I don't like: Durability?- not sure if it's durable enough for this type of competition
Turrets?- I've heard some complaints about these
Locking turrets?- I'm not sure if this has locking turrets or not
34mm tube- I don't have an extra mount for this but lower cost makes up for it

Any thoughts on these scopes for these types of competitions is appreciated. Or are there other options I've potentially missed?

Thanks in advance!
