The Three Boxes of American Freedom

I got a surprise this morning while doing a search that proves to me how the internet is being manipulated to change history.

I've been around for a long time, will be 70 in a couple of months. Early on I learned about "The Three Boxes of Freedom". To my understanding, those had always been three and in a specific order: 1) The Soap Box (Freedom of Speech), 2) The Ballot Box, (Right to elect our government) and 3) The Ammo Box (The Right to bear arms).

Well now there are a number of different "boxes"out there and some places like Wikipedia  have four.

Now most all insert a Jury Box. They either add it making four boxes or replace the Soap Box. This smells of "Lawfare"...

How did you learn this and when?

22ARC 62GR ELD-VT IS NO ONE RELOADING FOR THIS

Come on guys and gals is no one reloading for this I have a proof 20in 22 arc that shoots the factory 62gr eldvt rounds great but I want to reload for this. I have 300 once fired 22 arc cases now but the load data on hornady book isn’t enough for me. I have tried cfe223 getting the velocity same as the factory round but I’m getting plunger marks primer isn’t flat but I have never loaded for a ar15 so I’m not 100% when to stop any help will b great thanks in advance

A&D Scale Upgrade -Buy or Wait?

Hello. Newbie reloader. I’m currently using an RCBS 304 scale, but thinking about an upgrade to digital. I’m finding to get loads accurate to 1/10th of a grain I need to really finesse the balance beam scale. The eye strain gets to you…

Here’s the rub. I can’t afford a magnetic force restoration scale. I’m loading maybe 200 rounds per year tops, so I’m keeping my equipment simple.

I’m eyeballing the A&D EJ-120, since $200 is more in my price range. What’s your thoughts on a simple strain scale? Is it going to drift enough during a load session to cause either safety issues (off by a grain) or accuracy issues (off by a tenth of a grain).

With my low volume loading I don’t need auto trickling. I’d be fine checking the scale with a weight every 5 or 10 loads to make sure it hasn’t drifted. I do want good accuracy though. If a $200 digital strain scale can’t be trusted, even if you check it every 5-10 loads, I’m probably better off sticking with my balance beam.

Barrel overheating

Running a proof 223 barrel (bolt action). Heading to a shooting class which states a high volume of fire (relatively speaking) for a precision rifle course.

Do I have to be concerned about overheating a 223 match rifle (heavy Palma)? What’s about my limit before I need to be concerned?

I’ve done about 35 rounds before in 25 minutes, and the barrel was getting hot to the touch.

Random question for those working in the legal profession.

Howdy,

I understand that there's a structure for folks being called to jury duty- either their employer has a corporate level policy stating that they will cover the salaries of any employee called to serve in a jury OR jurors are entitled to some token amount of compensation (IDK $40 or whatever a day and maybe lunch). Where my question comes from- what financial assurances do witnesses have for being called to court? Does it vary from state to state, municipality to municipality?

To put another way- let's say I'm "Bob" and I work at a local gas station. Just outside of the windows, I notice that there's a murder that occurs right there in the parking lot because the gas station is in a bad part of town. I clearly witnessed the murder occur and the gas station has surveillance cameras that recorded said event. I get something in the mail saying I need to appear in court to testify- BUT I'm a witness and not a juror. My corporate overlords that own the gas station only have a policy for jury duty but "Bob" is ordered to court to testify as a witness.

In that scenario, does "Bob" have any financial assurance for having to take a day (or more) off of work? Clearly working at a gas station in the 'bad' part of town would suggest that "Bob" doesn't have the financial means to afford a day off of work to make his financial ends "meet". Anywho- I was just curious how this situation normally plays out for those on the Hide with experience in this situation. Is "Bob" SOL and possibly not make his electric payment that month because of the court order or does the court protect the financial loss of such witnesses?

Suppressors Reasons not to buy Silencerco Omega 300?

Edit: changed title to Omega 300 not the Omega 30. Based on their website the Omega 300 is the only one available.

I am in motion to buy a “one and done” 30 cal can.

I know better than to ask what is the “best” can because that is subjective that comes with 20K different choices.

It will be used on bolt action only rifles. I only have 30 cal and under (308).

It will probably never see use on the 308, and will be used on a 223, 6.5 Grendel, 6 arc, and a 6.5 creed. I may one day get a 300 blackout bolt rifle.

Application will be range enjoyment/plinking etc and hunting. I will 99% never use it in a PRS comp because I prefer my brake for that.

It’s seems to be just a plain ole good can. Any reason not to get one and go a different route?

I already have a good Rimfire can so hopefully this will be my one and only do all centerfire suppressor.
Thank you
