Many Thanks on a Devastating Day

Thank you So much for All the Support,

I was devastated yesterday when I got the call early in the morning, I speak to my Mom everyday I am not on the Range, and Monday was no exception. We spoke Monday afternoon, I was just telling her I was coming back to CT for a party they were having in August. She was very happy and asked me to come, which I said I would. She sounded a little off, but about 2 weeks before she got dehydrated and was being looked at. She was back home and planned on calling me Tuesday as usual, we normally speak before she heads too bed.

When Dan called Tuesday morning I knew it was bad, he and I don’t really speak unless it’s important. The Silver lining in my brain, she passed peacefully in her sleep.

It’s crazy cause I always try to make her laugh, I am gonna miss her telling me, “you’re crazy” as I explained to her last month I was too busy to go to a funeral and her only windows where certain times in the Summer. She laughed as she does.

She was incredibly strong for her size, she contracted Good Pastures disease a few years ago and spent 10 months in a coma following a machine from Yale to Bridgeport to NYC, they told her a lot of things after and she beat them all. A few years ago she was with me and had a Stroke, Marc was the first to realize it. Whenever she beat the odds she would say, see I’m the strong one, I honestly thought she would outlive me some times.

I wasn’t even unpacked from Alaska, which seems to be my life lately, tripping from one thing to another.

I’m gonna miss talking to my Mom, she was awesome, I had the best possible childhood with her, she was present and engaged in all aspects of our upbringing, a rare quality today.

Thank you to Everyone, I sincerely appreciate it, and to Laura for being a rock during all this. She is awesome, so don’t cross her while I am gone, she won’t stand for it.

Question for Ford Mechanics

Noticed some humming coming from the front end. Checked the wheel bearings and the usual culprits which were all normal. This lead me to check out the IWE system.

I checked both front IWEs with my suction pump and both hold pressure and disengage appropriately. So those seem good.

Next I went to trouble shoot the vacuum lines. I’m getting good suction on the drivers side line, and the drivers side IWE stays unlocked in 2WD. However the passenger side vacuum line doesn’t have any suction while in 2WD. And is locking up that IWE.

I can’t figure out for the life of me why one side would have suction, but not the other. To me it looks like one continuous run of tubing. If there was a hole anywhere in the vacuum lines wouldn’t both sides lose suction?

What am I missing??

Some ammo accuracy sharing and a "betcha ain't seen one of these before"

In between lulls in the shooters waiting to shoot I dug an old project out I'd experimented with a few years ago. After hearing a buddy telling a couple of other competitors about it I dug deep into the vault and retrieved it. I had only shot the old Wolf Target in it but it shot amazing well. I kept adding to it as I kept wanting to see how far I could get it to shoot and how accurately way out there. I can't remember now but I do think I was able to get hits at 500 yards but 400 was much more predictible and 350 being really easy.

I had never tried any high end ammo in it but had some Lapua SLR range and tweaked it a bit to get a good 50 yard zero. A buddy that had never seen it before but is a very good shooter was offered the chance to try it out. His first shot was barely off center of the .200 hole in the sighter plate at 50 yard, his next shot perfectly centered it and squeezed part thru. He moved over and shot the last 3 little targets on the humbler rack at 50 yards. They were 3/8", 5/16" and 1/4". Good hits and not barely nicking them. It only holds 5 shots so he reloaded and I had him swing over to the "split the bullet" rack at 50 yards. His first shot went just barely left of the edge, next shot barely right and the 3rd shot split it cleanly. Picture below on that one.

Later on Sunday after most shooters left I loaded 5 in the chamber and dialed 23 minutes and asked Chris to spot the 10" plate at 197 yards. Figured I'd be on the plate but not sure where. Still a little bit of breeze but barely moving the flag tape. Pretty good hit, second shot a tiny bit right of that one but still perfect elevation. The next 3 piled into the group on the right but still nearly perfect elevation. I doubt the total verticle spread is 1 1/2" but closer to probably 1". Could not believe it but it really likes the Lapua SLR.

It has the match chamber and has to have each round seated with a rod, you just can't push hard enough to get them seated to turn the cylinder using your fingers. OH, guess I didn't mention this was a 10" Freedom Arms model 83 silhouette 22lr revolver in a cobbed together contraption that lets me use a bipod on the front and a monopod on the rear. I know, stand on your hind legs and shoot it like a man, this was built for seeing what its capabilities are.

I'm going to check zero one more time but am planning on shooting it at the next longrange match which ends at 250 yards. No idea how it'll do but I'm guessing it won't be in last place. I've spotted nearly 5000 rounds go downrange each month at my matches for many years now and also at the other longrange matches and I'm still firmly convinced a decent gun using high end ammo it likes can be as competitive for these longrange matches as Vudoos, RIm-Xs and the countless customs and better target guns out there. My Son occasionally uses a Savage MK II with Lapua SLR or RWS R-50 and it'll compete with any of the guns at any of the matches. Just sharing this to show you don't have to spend top dollar to go enjoy matches and be competitive.

You can believe what I've said or not, I didn't post this for bragging since we're no better than any of the other shooters in our area but to share some findings. I have no reason to stretch the truth or lie, been plenty of witnesses to verify the results. I held off for years shooting midrange ammo and still do but there is without a doubt a major difference stepping up to the top shelf stuff. I had one competitor this weekend shooting Tac-22 saying it did OK but all he could find quickly for my match. I set the Garmin Chrono up so he could see what his ammo was doing, he was amazed the variation and at each shot he could glance over and see if it was low, high or on the target and see the velocity. Nearly 80fps variation compared to maybe 10 to 12 with the Lapua SLR. It's not as noticible close up but stretching it out on smaller targets and seeing the results will make you a believer.

OK, some pictures of my contraption, first 3 are Bill Moran shooting the little humbler and splitting the bullet on the axe than my 5 shots at 197 yards.

Shooter/Shooter vs Spotter/Shooter more effective. Secret Service sniper teams.

Unless I have missed it I have not seen much discussion on a shooter/shooter vs spotter/shooter strategy in regards to the counter sniper teams in the trump assignation situation. It appears to me that everyone was on the gun. It looked like at least one team had 20x Steiner binos but where hand holding them as seen in the attached pic. I think the census on here is that is too much power for hand holding. I can't tell if they had arca mounts on them to tripod mount. I understand one could have been spotting on the gun through the scope. However my question is what are the thoughts on this. Clearly there are monumental screw ups on all fronts but if you where going to train teams today from lessons learned do you want 4 people on guns or defined spotter and shooter with spotter on glass only.

Buying first AI rifle; have questions…

I’m looking to buy my first AI rifle. I got to shoot a guy’s ASR rifle a couple years ago and thought it was tits. Currently load and shoot 6.5 Creedmoor, but would love to get a rifle that can switch barrels and do magnum calibers one day. I’m only buying 1 rifle/ can’t swing 2. It looks like Mile High and EuroOptic are the only places with them for sale? Both seem to have pretty limited stock right now.

I’m trying to figure out which rifle I want and it looks like the models have changed a bit since I last looked. I like the looks of the AXSA but I’m getting the feeling it’s been discontinued because I can’t find one in 6.5 Creedmoor anywhere. I shoot out to 300yds regularly- out to 1000 yds sometimes and do not compete currently. Is the AXSR what I want to be able to shoot short action and magnum? Appreciate any advice.

When's the market gonna crash?

Think the powers that be are going to crash the stock market prior to the election or are they going to wait until 1/21/25 to tank it? And do everything they can to make it last.

If Trump wins and it crashes you can be sure it's "Trump's fault" and the libs will do everything they can to play it into midterm wins.

Scope and silencer advice

Ok. So I’m still learning the site. since I’m looking for advice on two different products I wasn’t sure where this thread belonged. I currently own a tika T3X in 300 wm. It has a decent scope on it now, but not a scope for shooting out past 600 yards or so. I am wanting to upgrade but not sure where to even start. There are so many variations and brands. Would also like any advice on night vision scopes as well. Secondly I want a silencer for it also. Don’t know much at all about them. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Deportation

I hear alot of talk about deportation of illegals(which I am 100% for) but no talk of the how.I mean what do you do to deport at minimum 20 million people?Who handles this? The military, the National Guard? How do you do it?Put them all on planes and point them south? What is the plan because unfortunately I can see it being done for 1 million never mind 20.We can however cut them off of any and all government services and benefits and try not to have any work here for them which may make them want to return home.We an also make it so hard for them to navigate our country by speaking and having the wriiten word only in English which may make it very hard for them to get along here but other than that I just dont see a physical deportation as much as I want one.

Franks mom passed away.

We woke up to a phone call from his brother this morning calling to tell us that their mother had passed away. Fortunately, she passed peacefully in her sleep. Frank and his daughter are flying out tomorrow to CT to be with family.

Barbra was an amazing lady. She was sweet, kind, generous, loving, funny and most of all spicy! She came from a family of seventeen (including her parents). She joins her sister Toni and brothers Butchy and Richie. She is no longer in pain, she peacefully getting her tan in heaven with all the best Italian food she could ever want! No white sauce!

Thank you for your support and love. We greatly appreciate it.

(Concluded) Opinion on following long-range rifles?

AI AT-XC
Bergara Premier Series (MGLite, MGMicro Lite, HMR Pro)
Christensen MPR
DD Delta 5 Pro
MPA PMR Custom Match
Seekins Precision Havak Hit/Hit Pro
Tikka T3x Tact A1

Would like to know personal experiences and opinions about the firearms mentioned above. I know that there are different intentions of usage etc. but what about a general long-range rifle (no competition or any of that deadly sniper training crap... just good old fun) that you can just shoot/practice and get better at it with?

Cutting the cord advice, tips and how-to's!

Been thinking about dumping Satellite TV.... Land Line... Sirius car radio, etc. for a while.

This weekend, as I was thinking about how the outrageous fees for DirectTV are going to fund piece of garbage networks like CNN and Disney... I think it is time to dump the whole lot and cut the cord. Not to mention probably saving about $3k a year!

First was Sirius... Which I didn't drop. But when I called to drop, they reduced my rate from $30 a month to $11.50. Which I am willing to pay for the convenience of having my truck connected. So while that's not cut... it's gone to 135 a year instead of almost 400.

Second is getting rid of the POS Satellite TV DirectTV which is stupid expensive AND my money goes to support Disney pedophiles and CNN propagandists... not to mention dozens of other useless DEI channels that are ONLY economic because I have to pay for them to get the two or three dozen channels I watch. So it has to go. I have a streaming/internet ready TV so don't even need a ROKU box. That's easy as long as I have Internet in the house.

Last, I'm going to get a Magic Jack (which allows me to port the home phone number onto it.... that has been at this house since the 1970s! That device hooks into Internet and lets me nuke land phone line and I know several folks who have them and say they work fine.

The issue is that nuking my land phone line kills my ISDN... which I want to get rid of. It's slow and expensive. And I have Starlink at the Shop which totally rocks. But I need to keep high speed Internet at the house. So I have a couple of options....

Door number one is to order another Starlink. It's about $500 and $100 a month (120 after introductory.) I'm ok with that. I install it on the house... and I have two Starlink accounts and I know they will work.

But where I am looking for some advice... my shop/barn StarLink is only really 'used' during the day. No bandwidth being consumed in the evening. When my house consumes bandwidth. So 'one' Starlink should easily do both buildings. BUT they are about 80 yards apart. I can 'just barely' pick up barn StarLink Signal from the house. But not enough for a reliable connection.

So what I am wondering is.... what do you guys use/have/etc. for Extenders. I actually have a Wi Fi extender at the house that reaches out to a security camera quite a ways from the house. So am thinking that a good directional extender of some kind or ???? would let me use one WiFi connection to do both buildings. There is a perfect clear line of sight of about 80 yards between the outer wall of the barn and the outer wall of the house.

I've seen some 'directional WiFi' panels for sale but not sure if they are pencil beams... or if I can find units that will do about 120 yards - 200 yards on an arc of about 30 degrees... to connect house and barn. Maybe there are some 'standard' hi-power extenders that people recommend? The one I have in the house is probably 10 years old and has worked great. If the tech has improved a lot in the last few years, maybe a regular WiFi extender is fine.

Thoughts? Any hardware recommendations?

Last, I have no security concerns. The nearest house is hundreds of yards away. Noone's going to be 'tapping in.'

Any other tips from you guys who have cut the cord? What to expect... concerns... DO's and Don'ts? Hardware recommendations, etc?

Thanks in advance... This place always has good advice!

(Soon to be ex Senator!) Bob Menendez Found Guilty on All Counts in Federal Corruption Trial

Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., left, leaves federal court in New York, Monday, July 15, 2024.

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) was found guilty on all counts on Tuesday in his federal corruption trial.
ABC News reported:
Federal prosecutors in New York alleged the New Jersey Democrat accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in the form of cash, gold bars, mortgage payments and more in exchange for the senator’s political clout. Three New Jersey businessmen who were also charged, along with the governments of Egypt and Qatar, were the alleged recipients.
The jury deliberated for about 13 hours over three days.
Menendez pleaded not guilty to the 16 federal charges, which included bribery, fraud, obstruction, and acting as a foreign agent.
Until his federal indictment, he was chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
The New Jersey Democrat “is the first sitting member of Congress to be charged with conspiracy by a public official to act as a foreign agent.”
Federal prosecutors claimed that Menendez had “put up his power for sale” in exchange for gold, envelopes full of cash, checks to his wife for a no-show job, and a luxury automobile. The FBI had found more than $400,000 in cash stashed in various places throughout his house.
“It wasn’t enough for him to be one of the most powerful people in Washington. Robert Menendez wanted all that power and he also wanted to use it to pile up riches for himself and his wife,” federal prosecutor Paul Monteleoni said on July 8.
Defense attorney Adam Fee claimed that the prosecutor’s case against the New Jersey Democrat was “cherry-picked nonsense” and accused prosecutors of “fudging” the facts.
“His actions were lawful, normal and good for the country,” Fee remarked.
ABC News continued:
Prosecutors told the jury that Menendez promised to use his power to help Egypt. According to the indictment, the arrangement was brokered by New Jersey businessman Wael Hana, a friend of Menendez’s wife, Nadine, who prosecutors said received the senator’s help preserving a halal meat monopoly.
During the trial, Menendez’s sister was asked why the senator had so much cash stuffed into his congressional jacket.
“It’s a Cuban thing,” Caridad Gonzalez said.

Jill Biden and Her Top Advisor Orchestrated the Hiring of DEI-Loving Secret Service Director, Who Refuses to Resign After Failing to Protect Trump

As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump was nearly assassinated Saturday night during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, by a 20-year-old Democrat donor named Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Subsequent reports have revealed the numerous avoidable failures by the Secret Service to protect Trump and take out the gunman. Humiliating footage of petite females struggling to cover the 45th president and escort him out of harm’s way has also emerged.
Blame for this horrifying moment in American history has rightfully focused on DEI-loving Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who has refused to resign. Reports have revealed that instead of hiring the best possible agents, Cheatle has focused on ensuring more non-white and female agents regardless of qualifications.
In fact, her agency has set a goal of ensuring the Secret Service is 30% female by 2030, despite the fact women biologically are generally smaller and weaker than males.
This begs the question of why such a politically correct person was heading the Secret Service. According to the New York Post, all fingers point to Joe Biden’s wife Jill. It turns out she had a close relationship with Cheatle, which helped her land the job.
The Post notes that Cheatle, who served on Jill’s security detail, was well-liked by the “First Lady” and her staff, including top advisor Anthony Bernal.
The outlet further reveals Berna lobbied extensively for Cheatle to become Secret Service Director presumably at his boss’s behest. More infuriatingly, Anthony had no experience in law enforcement or experience so he should have been ignored.
Yet he and Jill got their way to the detriment of Trump.
From the New York Post:
Embattled Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who is facing congressional outcry and calls to resign over security lapses leading to former President Donald Trump’s near-assassination Saturday, landed her role thanks largely to a close relationship with First Lady Jill Biden, The Post has learned.
Four sources close to President Biden’s family, including people who interacted with Cheatle during the Obama-Biden administration, said she was well-liked by the future first lady and her most senior aides, including top adviser Anthony Bernal.
Cheatle served on Dr. Biden’s second lady detail and Anthony pushed for her, a Democratic insider told The Post. Anthony has no national security or law enforcement experience. He should have no influence over the selection of the USSS director.”
“I heard at the time she was being considered for director that Anthony had pushed her forward as an option,” another well-placed source told The Post.
This report also provides a plausible explanation for why resources were reportedly diverted from Trump’s rally to Dr. Jill’s poorly attended campaign event in Pittsburgh. When someone owes their job to another, favors are sometimes sought in return.
