People ask me why I don't like Sig.......

I should just make a handout of this. :) This is why I don't like Sig.....among tons of other things there are so many lemons in their barrel lotteries.

Let's start with my Gen 2 MPX 16" with a red dot. These are typical groups 6-8" out of it at 50yds, 115gr, 147gr, match ammo etc. doesn't matter. It runs fairly reliable as far as MPX's go but the accuracy is abysmal. $500 combat handguns print better groups than this in a rest with match ammo at 50yds. Shot off an accutac bipod and rear bag. Tried all the tricks, removing the muzzle device, making sure the barrel was torqued properly, adjustable gas block, even tried a different bolt since I had one replaced when Sig changed firing pins. Doesn't matter if it's off a bipod or bags. It's a shotgun. I would expect something like this, especially with better match ammo to easily hold 3-4" at 50yds. I've seen JP-5's do close to that at 100yds with match ammo. Some of these almost look like the bullets are starting to tumble.

Screen Shot 2025-07-04 at 1.43.57 PM.png

Then let's move onto my MCX Legacy 16".......these are two sets of groups at 50yds. Both are 3 separate groups of 5 rounds each (the far left round on the right target is actually part of the left target's groups). The one on the left with typical 55gr AE ammo (no one expects much out of that) the group on the right is Barnes 69gr. No sight adjustments mind you, shot off an accutac bipod and rear bag. Actually worse than the groups shot out of the MPX.....that alone is impressive! This barrel was actually returned to Sig a couple years ago and I was told it tested to their specs. I've done all the things, barrel nut torque, removed the flash hider in case it was torqued on too hard, all the things. It's a shotgun even with match ammo. I can say without a doubt this is the worst shooting barrel accuracy wise I've ever had. No tumbling here, the bullet holes you can find on a target at 100 are still clean holes.

Screen Shot 2025-07-04 at 1.44.31 PM.png

Now you might just say "Oh that guy just bitter and doesn't know how to shoot. Well here's a 20rd group (4 separate groups of 5 shots) with the same 69gr Barnes ammo shot out of a virtus barrel installed on the exact same optic (1-6x)/upper/lower (different tapered bolt of course for the virtus) today as well, shot off the same bipod and rear bag. Except this group is at 100 yds. Still not as impressive as a couple of my JP barreled AR's with match ammo (especially considering Sig charges $900 for a barrel) but for a 1:7 Sig barrel, of a bipod and rear bag, and 4 separate groups, It's more than acceptable.. The downside is the weight of the Virtus barrel destroys the gun's balance and you lose the best part of the MCX (light weight and balance) in the process.

Screen Shot 2025-07-04 at 1.47.41 PM.png

I could go on, we could get into the issues I had to solve with my 320 X-five to get it to run, but those were fairly easily solvable.

My $0 Tax Stamp Rant

Most people here know I bounce around multiple gun related forums and after this BBB passage, I keep reading how this is a win for us. How the fuck is it a win?! Just because you save $200 ($5 for AOW), you still have to go through the same bullshit hoops and hurdles to exercise your Second Amendment right. And worse yet, now your FFL/SOT that you buy your NFA items from will know you have an extra $200 in your pocket and will raise the price of their products. I sure as fuck would if I was in the business!

Look, I get that the journey of 1,000 miles begins with one step, but that first step is NOT a win. It's the final step at the 1,000 mile mark that's officially the win. I'm not much of a superstitious person, but I believe that this early victory dance that so many folks are doing is gonna jinx us and we will lose that first step progress. So let's focus on that 1,000 mile goal instead of the preemptive celebration.

Rant over. Now let's get those grills ready!

PRS Talk PRS Match participation taking a hit in 2025?

As of this weekend (July 4), there have been 27 matches in the 2025 PRS Pro Series Schedule vs. 24 matches at the same time in the 2024. This includes the 4 matches new to 2025 (Berger Snowbird, Gravestone, Clinton House, and Northern Lights), but also the 1 match that was dropped from the 2025 schedule (Frontline).

  • The Good: The overall number of participants for Pro Series matches is up 10% season-to-date in 2025. That's good for the PRS.
  • The Bad: 20 of the 24 matches that carried over from 2024 attracted fewer shooters. In fact, the average number of participants declined 14%. That's a tough pill for the average MD, who brought in ~$7K less from registration fees (all else equal). The trend since 2023 is even more stark.
  • The Biggest Gainers Y/Y: Rifleman's Revival, Nut Crusher, Vengence, and A-Team. These matches saw an increase in participation of ~13% on average.
  • The Biggest Decliners Y/Y: Parma Rumble (-43%), Koenig Ruger (-36%), and Cashout Chaos (-34%)
Notably, 3 of the Top-5 most popular matches in 2024 saw a decline in 2025 (Hornady, Koenig Ruger, and Snake River) so this trend of lower participation was not limited to the "small" matches. Also, Cashout Chaos (61) and Parma Rumble (61) had a concerningly low turnout this year. That's unfortunate to see.

First off, I have been an active participant in PRS Pro, Regional, and Rimfire matches since 2022. I would like to see participation grow and I would like to see the community grow and thrive so as to create opportunities for myself, my children, and the companies endemic to the sport.

Second, I don't think I am putting out anything that Mr. Wheeler or his MDs are not already seeing in the data and I put this out there so the community can chime in on possible drivers of this trend. I have my theories, but have not taken the time to analyze the impact of Rimfire and / or Regional series, Y/Y changes in match fees, or the schedule has had on match participation. Let's hear what the Hide thinks (that means you @Sheldon N ).

Lastly, I have two kids, work in Tech, a CRAZY baby mama, and $4.50 per gallon gas that all factor into whether I participate in a match. So as much as I too would like to convert $ into loud 'bangs' I know that I have had to balance my time more this year and that has led to fewer matches.

Now THIS is FUNNY!!!!

Just need to point and laugh at the person who feels the need to insult intelligence over choosing a certain scope when they have a clearly stated goal for their build.
And subsequently loses Mod status because peeps get tired of the crap.

And of course, he wasnt looking at a Vortex…….

What Could Cause Brass to get “stuck” on the bolt/extractor when manually cycling the action on 6 arc gas gun?

The below happened when I was at the range today and manually cycled the action to make sure there wasn’t a sticky bolt close/open. It closed and opened fine but when the cartridge got to the point where it should have shot out of the upper it didn’t and instead it just clung to the extractor claw. I had to pull it off by hand. It didn’t happen for every round in the mag but it did happen maybe 2-3 times out of 10. I checked and the ejector plunger moves freely/isn’t sticky. Mag being used was a duramag 6.5 gendel 10 round.

This is a rubber city armory bolt with sprinco 5 coil extractor spring (with insert but no o-ring) and sprinco ejector spring with only 100 rounds on them.

BPC-157 Anyone have any experience with this?

So, the aches and pains are catching up with me, but I still try to stay active. Weights, cardio, etc. I heard about this on Rogan and other places, and it seems like a miracle drug, which usually means it does nothing-at least for me. Now my social media is flooded with this crap since I've tried to research it, and it's more confusing now that before. I know the FDA has banned it or is going to, but that doesn't really carry much water. I've heard too that some sporting associations have also banned it, which to me means it might work (lol)
Does anyone have experience with this stuff? What's a good place to get it? I don't what to buy some stuff and end up getting tape worms or something

First KRG Bravo

I was planning on ordering from Mcmillan but the 8 month wait was a no-go for me.

So, I ordered my first KRG Bravo lefty. I was suprised to discover that the thumb screw for the cheek riser is not flipped to the left side. It forces the user to go at least 1.25"to prevent the thumb screw from stabbing your face. It seems kinda silly for them not to move it.

I also had to add a relief cut to the picatinney rail in the front as the covered forend would not fit under it.

Lasty, I had to relief cut the inside of the trigger well so that the safety would not rub. All in all nothing hard and explains why they are so much less expensive. I have yet to shoot with it since I am awaiting a couple more pieces.

KCSO Deputy in Critical Condition after armed suspect hits him in head with brick or rock

This is just one example of the kind of thing that makes LawEnf work so dangerous compared to almost all other careers... Of course, people with sociopathic personality traits will still have contempt for LE even after viewing this.

A Knox County S.O. Tenn. Deputy is/was on a ventilator in critical condition after a nighttime call about shots fired in the woods behind some homes in Tennessee...

KCSO Deputy Austin Swanger and at least two to three other deputies heard the suspect but couldn't see him because of vegetation, and after entering the woods, Deputy Swanger was struck hard in the head with a brick or rock.

By coincidence, part of it was caught on camera because the Deputies were being filmed by a TV show called "On Patrol: Live".

SOLD WTS - Accuracy International AI AT folding thumbhole compete rifle in Pale Brown w/ 6.5CM AI Pale Brown barrel, small firing pin, excellent condition

I'm selling a safe queen, 2016 Accuracy International AI AT folding thumbhole compete rifle in Pale Brown w/ 6.5CM AI Pale Brown barrel, small firing pin, excellent condition.

$4499 $4299 shipped and insured

It has under 500 rounds on it. I'm the second owner and purchased with 180 documented rounds on it. I have 250 documented rounds (I reload), but may have fired a box or two of factory ammo through it, I can't remember.

I've always slow fired a mild load through it of 41.0gr of H4350 with Berger 140 target bullets so the barrel is barely breaking in.

I upgraded the top optic rail to be the lower version. Most medium-height scope rings will get this to a perfect height. It does not include a high rail or NV bridge.

It has a brand new AI thumbhole stock in pale brown that I literally just installed today. It also includes the standard factory grip. The folding mechanism works like a bank vault - zero slop.

Overall, it's in excellent condition with very few signs of use. The barrel cerakote has a few minor marks, the skins are in excellent shape and it has an almost new buttpad that I replaced last year. I also installed an additional factory buttstock spacer, it should fit most people nicely.

It's an absolute laser, 1/3 MOA if I do my part with 5 round groups. The only reason I'm selling is that I purchased an AXSA.

It includes the following:
  • AI AT rifle w/ 6.5 CM AI factory cerakoted Pale Brown barrel with thread protector (these are Bartlien, I believe) with under 500 rounds on the rifle and barrel
  • Installed low height Picatinny rail
  • Installed new factory AI thumbhole stock in Pale Brown
  • Take-off standard grip in Pale Brown
  • 1x AI AT 10 round magazine
  • 1x Extra buttstock spacer

I will only ship directly to your FFL and they must accept transfers from an individual. I will only accept Zelle, a bank wire, or a personal check with adequate time to clear. I'm happy to hop on a video call with a buyer. I will not ship anywhere that this rifle is not allowed or that requires special accommodations to ship. Prices are in CONUS. Please contact me for additional shipping to Alaska. This will ship fully insured with signature required to your FFL. I will pack it exceptionally well.

New integrated bridge Spuhr ring cap

Noticed this while perusing the Spuhr site:

1751566463828.png

Comes in 34mm, 35mm, and two versions of 36mm (reg and high). Pretty spendy, but no surprise there lol.

I know all about the cracking issues some are having with Spuhr. But I thought this would be of some interest as their current bridge add-on rails don’t attach as positively as Area 419 and especially ARC Mbrace (don’t know about other brands).

And yes, I’m aware that some people are having ring cracking issues with the Mbrace too.

I just realized something you all been asking for

Everyone always asks me to bring the Chat box back, and unfortunately it’s not something I would revisit in the forum unless it was secure and seamless which none of them are.

But on the Home page, the Hide TV page, the videos have a chat function as part of the video platform.

When Chris and I are live, we can see certain platforms when people ask questions. So a chat function is pretty common and TheHide.TV video have a comment feature that is chat based .

So while not the forum there is an option
