Vudoo closed the doors…

Before Vudoo was Vudoo didn't they used to be a CF rifle builder that also closed up shop?

If so that would make this the 2nd business they have failed at. IMO the Vudoo actions have always felt like shit...
Sort of. Im sure if you dig through the hide you will find the details. However it wasn't the owners of Vudoo.

Movie Theater Warfare (2025)

Mostly in the way the SEAL team was portrayed. Inept, confused, undertrained, and with a total lack of leadership..... Totally unprepared for the mission they were sent to do, but simply because of poor decision making by the CO. Certainly there are ways to portray an unwinnable scenario without making the losing team look like a total shit show. If the true story is being portrayed correctly, it wasn't worth making a movie about. Certainly things can go wrong and command can leave guys in a lurch but that was not portrayed in the movie. The amount of force wasn't portrayed as overwhelming, and they weren't hindered by Command or some other situation. The Team was not shown to be attempting to complete the mission of protecting the Marines....

Too many holes in the plot and generally portraying US soldiers in a bad light, just left me with a miserable feeling. As I stated earlier, there are ways to portray an unwinnable battle in a way the doesn't denigrate those involved. Blackhawk Down certainly managed to do it.

My $0.02
I don't think it's meant to be taken that way quite honestly. The point to me was to illustrate how awful it truly is, not to show any level of incompetence on the SEALS part. I mean hell Mendoza and his team directly oversaw the film, so it's by their recollection and I certainly don't think that was their intention. I do see your points, I just don't think it was meant to be taken that way in the slightest.

BHD is my favorite war film of all time BTW, never gets old.

Reactions: Long Range 338

300 yard consistency

Ya it is BS. BS of same sample sizes…… which leads people to conclude something which isn’t true.

I used an ECV1 tuner. I think I actually went 2 revs plus a couple settings. I only had 500rds of this particular lot so I was limited to that. Plus I had to save some rounds to retest the best and worst. However I think it’s completely reasonable. I shot at 52 yds on a nearly dead calm day. 100yd you start to see more wind playing a role so I avoided that on the initial test. I shot a couple 15rd groups at 100 with the best and worst setting on my second session. I’d have to find my excel file to remember the agg group size but the average 5 shot group size across all settings was .31”.

At any rate they marketed to show “nodes” that are repeatable and that was not the case in my test or any others that I’ve seen. And someone like you using 3 shot groups to determine an initial setting is quite hilarious given the well fact of high variance in 3 shot group sizes….
What was the difference in the tuner groups and non tuner. If your aggs were 0.31" the tuner must be working, You will not see much vertical at 52 yds and 100yds any way. How much vertical were in your 100yd groups? you can fine tune at 100yds.
As far as the 3 shot groups, it is to find your starting points they work for me. I said you go back and shoot as many rounds as you need to find the best setting, to go to 200yds. My goal is to get to 200yds and fine tune. I don't need to shoot 500 rounds to get there.

Do you shoot long range? If you only shoot 50yds and 100yds I don't know if you need a tuner. Long range is where the tuners work best. Me and some friends started a long range knockdown steel match with targets from 150yds to 400yds. When we pushed past 280yds the wheels fall off, started seeing a lot of vertical. The tuners turned that around.

If anyone is going to shoot past 200yds you are going to need all the help you can get. Ammo is the key to long range shooting. IMO a tuner is next on the list. It also takes a lot of rounds down range. Give yourself time the learn the shoot long range. Get some steel and shoot the hell out of it. And keep pushing the range out. The hits will come.

Finding out you forgot your ear protection, the hard way

What is the preferred brands of the electronic muffs these days?

The best you can afford.

Seriously, get the best you can reasonably afford, and double up with foamies inside the muffs. We have several flavors of Peltor/3M, Walker, and others here at the house, but I prefer MSA Sordin Supremes with gel cups; can wear ‘em all day long and actually forget I have ‘em on sometimes. I’ve literally driven home from the range that’s next door to our neighborhood and walked in the house with them still on. LoL

Super comfy with a behind-the-neck wire loop, and a soft harness over the top, even under a baseball cap:

I have the Ops-Core Amp NFMI setup on my helm, really nice during sustained fire training sessions:

I’ll repeat: Buy the best hearing pro you can afford…if that’s just foamies and regular $5 over the ear muffs that you use when mowing the lawn, fine…just wear it! I wish I’d taken ear pro more seriously when I was younger, and after a lifetime of shooting, flying, and rock concerts with little or no hearing protection, I’m paying the price with profound hearing loss now. It sucks.

Edit: and I only shoot suppressed now, even .22 pistols. We have 13 cans, and about to buy a couple more…with very few exceptions, every firearm that goes out to the range or ranch has a can on it before it leaves the house.

USMC Unertl locking in the parallax on the objective

The dimple is right about at the 6 o’clock position, maybe a few degrees off.

The scope just came back from ironsite, for repair on this exact issue. He’s repaired two other scopes for me in the past and they were great, so I’m not trying to knock his work at all. But when I got the shipping notice I called and tried to talk to Mike but he was busy with a project. I called again today but he’s going to be out for a few weeks. So I’m investigating fixing myself.
