Finally had a chance to try it out. On my 22lb 300 PRC, with ports at the 12 and 6 o'clock position, recoil was just a slow push. I'm looking forward to getting some more time behind it.
I just bought a remington 700 vls (laminate stock) the barrel fits tight in the channel, sides and bottom. This is a used rifle and previous owner put this stock on without pillars or bedding, I would at like to put pillars in for now but curious about free floating. I have heard remington does not float their barrels. This is my first remington and I want it to be right. Thanks to you all.
Just me, but I would install pillars and bed the action. Get a large socket and sandpaper and open the barrel channel ( easy to do go slowly trying fit often). Float that barrel.
Owning a 419 Zero I would recommend buying a Redding T-7 instead. I have both and unless you have a very healthy budget you could invest the difference on other components.
If budget is not an issue then go for it, they both make great ammo.
Has anyone looked into these? Upscaled mk12 in an Ar10 308 package. Anyone know anything about them? Any reason to not go this route for a large frame AR?

I'm looking for options for a clip on, flip to the side, thermal imagining device. Seems like, the Trijicon OASYS SkeetRx Micro Thermal Monocular w/Articulating Rifle Mount SKEETIRX-IRLAS-MT at EuroOptic is the only thing available. And that costs $12,750! I know I'm missing something (lots) so I need your collective wisdom. Yes, the device needs to be both clip on AND flip to the side. To much to ask? Let me know. Thanks from an Old Fart.
I've always used 5 shots as a starting point with 6.5 and .308 and never had any issues. If they group well then I move on to repeatability and OAl. Normally the ones that group the best have the worst sd/es so I really don't chase those anymore. Learned that from experience. But every now and then the ones with low SD/ES I'll play with and try to get them to group better but from experience it never worked. Hell. The Hornady factory I used to break in the barrel were all within a half moa but the Garmin read them as 16 SD/25 ES.
curious, So I assuming ? .. is Zero aftermarket for prefit's w/barrel nut anywhere made for the post 64 'push feeds' ? , Pre 64's are control feed and needed cutout for the extractor claw fit, but there a lot of post 64's 70's out there in pushfeed .
Or would be considered sacrilege bad taste to monkeyfuck barrelnut system to a M70 Win, even though it is post 64 push feed ?
