New Zealand’s Lesbian Navy Captain Loses $100M Naval Ship in Peacetime Disaster – Ship Runs Aground, Catches Fire, and Sinks, Unleashing Oil Spill.

To not first check the autopilot shows that their command is at the very, very bottom of capability. Having had several boats with autopilot, I know that automatically without thinking that is the very first thing a skipper or helmsman would normally do.

This goes along with the NZ push to have CB digital currency. Commies in power and trying to stay that way.
Correction, to have a fully crewed Navy ship and not have a qualified Officer of the Deck, Conning Officer, and Helmsman steering ought to be a violation of the captain's standing orders, and/or a violation of the regulations for operating a Naval ship. I am not aware of any circumstances where an auto pilot would ever be engaged on a Navy ship. Even if the bridge is completely blown away you man aft steering. There just isn't a case where you would use autopilot...maybe if the crew is mostly killed by a virus, down to one, and you have to keep the engines going?

Any F1 racing fans?

The most exciting thing honestly about this season is the quality of the rookie class. Stellar driving so far given the circumstances except for Doohan. I just doubt he’ll have time left before Colapinto steps in.
Flavio is going to tank that team before he's ultimately fired. Dude is a goon and years beyond relevance. F1 has changed so much since his success and has left him behind. As evidenced by his decision to hire Doohan.

They accelerated for around 3 miniutes into a grounding because they could not figure out the auto pilot was on. Auto pilot held course but allowed for power adjustments. They went from 40% to 100% power, thinking more power would turn the ship faster, but again the auto pilot was over ruling their course corrections.
From a dingey to VLCC the very first action order on a steering casualty, or any loss of positive command for that matter, is to take off all way. I think your average farmer who has never been on a boat or ever seen the ocean could figure that out. It takes a special kind of moron to assess there is no steering so we should hit the gas.

.308 Winchester

If you set up your rifle to take the correct detachable mags something like 2.990" MDT minus center plate, will feed through a standard Rem short action...available on line everywhere.
With a little inletting on your part, presto you too, can have the same setup.

This will help with the 200 gr and heavier to seat out past the ogive.
These are 208 Bergers at 2700 fps in $600 rifle build with a new Bartlein 5R 9 twist 22" barrel, bottom metal, magazine, and muzzle brake ....used parts on a trued Rem 700.
The rifle was a previous factory Rem LTR, with a shot out barrel.
I'm already setup for Hawkins Precision hunter extended mags. They have an internal length of 2.980"

Impossible to Level Scope Ring Caps Accurately?

I'll probably get flamed to death for using the word "lapping," but here goes.

I was putting some rings on an Athlon scope for a squirrel .22 tonight. Like a lot of rings, these have 4 screws each on top. That means it's possible to have all 4 corners of the caps at different heights, and there is no way to measure their heights accurately.

So if you get in there with your lapping tool and get everything true, and then you take the screws out, put the scope on, and put the screws back in, how is it possible that you will get the caps back on exactly as they were before you lapped them? If you can't, isn't it pretty likely you'll throw off all your lapping work?

This looks like a softball for anti-lappers.

In short; it isn't possible to guarantee that each screw is back to the same .001" of depth that it was while you were lapping. The bottom half though should at least be more correctly aligned.

You won't make it perfect, but you should at least make it better.

Then you get to deal with lapping compound and the scope slipping. I attempted this about 20 years ago and remember the results...finally realizing that I needed to use some rubbing alcohol and elbow grease to get all of that crap cleaned off.

I'm not an anti-lapper per se, but I haven't had the need to go that route again in a long time since I started investing in better rings/mounts.
