India vs Pakistan

of course, consider the source...but oops.

Now is another point where the world gets to watch the fact that dirty Pakis and Indians are better-equipped than Russia and Ukraine with weapons that actually matter, not silly things like artillery and armor that dominate the “primitive” minds of ground force-centric thinkers.

When you have J-10Cs lobbing PL-15s at Beyond Visual Ranges that rival most BVR missile metrics, against even some of the best French Rafale 4.5 Gen fighters ever made, it’s going to get people’s attention.

Remember Pakistan shot down an IAF MiG-21 Bison in Feb 2019 with an AIM-120C5 AMRAAM, launched from an F-16AM with upgraded US systems for BVR employment of that missile.

Debris recovered in India this time from a PL-15 shows it has an AESA seeker head as well. Chicoms have been getting all kinds of tech from their US political bribes, especially the Clintons, Bushes, Obamas, and Bidens.

tacom structured barrel

If a sliding weight made a Abram’s “that” much more accurate…I think with the 1 trillion military budget and about 10-15k per DU sabot…they would already have a sliding weight.

Just sayin’

And the Abrams is a smooth bore. So it has very different dynamics from a rifled barrel. It's more like a blowgun than a rifle. It doesn't have the same twisting or resistance of a rifled projectile.

So it can get away with much thinner walls. And it is all backed up with electronics. IIRC it's a German gun and stabilization system. Krupp or Rhinemetal. The accuracy comes from the fire control computers.

As for the barrel to bore diameters on a 16"... Not as thin as one thinks! And if you look at the breech area (much lower pressure back there than a rifle round, too) the working area is pretty thick. Look, too, at the OAL. It's short and stubby (even though it looks long and thin).

As for structured barrels, they have been around a while in artillery and similar applications. But can be expensive to make vs. the cost of using 'regular' barrels and swapping them out often or using fire control computing to make up for the deficiencies. And now using smart munitions.

None of that is an option in a small arm/precision rifle that has to be toted from place to place in competition or the field.

Cheers,

Anschutz 1727 magazine basepads

My Vudoo hated Polar so much I have yet to try it on anything else.
Luckily my Vudoo and 1727 both shoot the tightest and most reliable with a certain speed Lapua Long Range. My Lonestar/Shilen Ratchet combo with a PQP tuner isn't happy with anything but Midas+ and only one speed lot of that. Thinking at some point, health permitting, I'll take a trip down to Whidden's and see if I can find a Eley happy place.
I could be wrong but I think the chambers in the Fortners were optimized for PB?? The tech at the Lapua facility tried 3-4 lot #'s of PB but only the one I bought was exceptional, however equal to the best Midas+, and I didn't want to spend X-act money which was the most precise at 100M by a tiny margin.
The best CX and all the SK lines didn't shoot as well as that lot of PB in my gun.
Just wish I had bought two cases! IIRC in inches(because they measure in MM) it shot around 1" for 10 shots OTO at 100M.
Also they didn't have a proper jig for a Fortner action so they had to put it in a vice using rubber shims which I thought was funky.

Accessories Free Night Force ELR match spot

I am not going to the match this year but have a spot for it. I am willing to give this to someone who is wanting to attend but missed out on the sign up. I am not wanting to give this to anyone who is not going to use it or is going to try and sell it. My requirements would be to pay me for the spot now ($310) and when you finish the match and your name shows up on the results I will refund your money in full. I don't care how you do in the match just that you attend and shoot it.

Safeties are for gays and single actions. It’s a training issue, safeties only help the retarded. A safety is a crutch for a lot of dumb people obviously accidents(negligence) can happen with any firearm but if I can’t train you not to touch the trigger, then I can’t train you to put the safety on reliably. No amount of safeties is going to stop an ND if you don’t use them properly and repeatedly. If you don’t put your booger hook(or anything else) near the bang switch it won’t fire…unless it’s a 320.

The best safety is a good holster, and I repeat a GOOD holster. If you can’t touch the trigger it won’t go off unless it’s a 320

Sometimes memes are true

Obviously use common sense and train with the safety on equipped firearms.
Many NDs are holstering and unholstering. Yes, not an issue for most of us. It just is for genpop, and the careless. Manual safeties prevent glockleg. Unless someone is comfortable and knows what they’re doing it’s better to have one than not. Those of us who grew up with them they’re no big deal. If you grew up with only plastic fantastic striker pistols I can see why you would think them unnecessary, but for most people they can prevent NDs, and that’s all there is to it.

Mas Ayoob teaches people to shoot through panic rather than learning to fight panic, remain calm, and breathe. Why, because it’s not a six week combat course. For the love of God!
chris-farley-shout.gif

He teaches a seminar and done, and that’s the most effective way to teach self defense with a pistol in a single seminar to people who aren’t going to train and practice. Shit, some people who have work guns barely practice.

They don’t need to learn to be gunfighters. They need to learn the basics and to shoot through panic, because guess what? They’re gona panic.

Accuracy International Picture Thread

Nope, those are factory loads. The factory Hornady 108s shoot extremely well too, and the speed is pretty good. It took about 160 rounds for this barrel to stabilize and get to that speed. Its the factory win tac barrel, i think its a 26".

I am loading for berger 105 hybrids at 3050. They are lights out. I have not hunted with them yet. I have great luck with the hornady 108's. I've only had one runner. Not sure how the hybrids will expand at 500Y. Ill have to try it.

My factory 6CM barrel shot the factory Hornady 108s into about a half inch during break in. So I figured I'd give them a solid chance during load development.

I used Peterson brass, and had read about reduced case capacity and early pressure, so I started way low.

I popped quite a few groups in the 3/8" and under from 38.0 - 39.5 range of H4350 as I carefully worked my way up. From 39.7 - 40.7 things got erratic, but then came back together at 41.0gr...so much for pressure concerns, not a sign at all and I'm generally pretty conservative.

41.0 gave me my smallest group ever at 650 when I trued velocity - just under 2"

^ Probably a fluke, and I'll admit it.

I came down a tenth, held. 2 more for wind, and immediately re-shot it to confirm. Looks like I needed to come down another tenth.

^ That puts my velocity at 3,050-3,060 IIRC.

I did not have a very good experience with my first AI barrel, but this 6CM one hammers.

Currently, I've been using a rebarreled FN SPR in 6.5x47L with 130gr ELD-M to dispatch most of the critters this past fall and winter. I'm about 20 coyotes in, and have been extremely impressed with the terminal performance.

Now it is time for me to test the 108s in 6CM. I'm getting ahead of myself though and having a second 6CM barrel spun up for another rifle to do the same.
