.308 Winchester

Sorry, was this meant for me? If so, I'm actually at cbto ≈ 2.266" with the 185 jugs. Not sure where that puts me for OAL but it is certainly longer than 2.80"
Sorry, knowing what CBTO you have doesn't really tell us anything about your seating depth, as different comparators will measure CBTO differently. Your comparator is meant only for you to compare measures you are taking. Their simply not precision measuring tools. Different comparators can give as much as .065" difference. Even though bullet's OAL can vary, it easier to get a good idea of your cartridge configuration when you state a COAL.

What factory ammo were you shooting that gave you 2,701 fps (brand & bullet weight)?

Thanks, I figured my loads were on the safe side but wanted to ask. Being that I'm barely starting to load for this 308 and shooting more and more with it, I'm starting to learn figure her out. I may just send the bolt in to LRI so they can bush it.

I may also try loading slightly hotter. It appears I may have a bit more room to go up in charge weight.
Assuming you're loading your cartridges to the same COAL (or the same CBTO with your comparator) as the factory cartridges, you can certainly load them a little hotter (maybe by 1 gr more of Varget), but your not going to get the velocity you got out of the factory cartridges. You'll need a to load them longer, like a COAL at 2.950" if your freebore allows it, and maybe use a different powder, like IMR-4895 or H-4895, if that's your goal

Bullet proof vest tech- time for updates?

Even the best plates in the world require someone competent enough to hit them. That's a Captain Obvious statement, but we lost a good kid in 2007 to a "sniper" who threaded a bullet between the front and side SAPI plates, and hit the heart.

The great plate and AP bullet race was on in the early 2000s. We came out with plates that would stop 7.62x39 AP, and our boys started getting shot with 7.62x54. We came out with those hybrid gel plates to stop 7.62x54, and our boys started getting shot with 7.62x54 AP. After we came out with the ESAPI, I don't remember getting any more updates as long as I was issued plates. I did go from MTVRs back to plate carriers though. That was a relief.

In a decade we went from Vietnam-era flak jackets, to MTVRs with ESAPIs. Along with that came side plates, dick guards, throat guards, and the Army even had their poor bastards wearing those shoulder guards for a while. That was a pretty swift advancement in armor. **Admittedly, I don't keep up with what the current warfighters are being issued, so if there are more advancements please inform me.

Today, one could probably cheap out and get AR500 plates with an anti-spalling coating. Ceramic plates are still the bees' knees AFAIK.

As long as your plate can absorb 3-4 rounds of your common military cartridges (up to AP) and not frag your throat too much, I think it is doing everything one could ever hope for. Past that and you might want to reconsider your tactics...because they suck.

Innovation should be made IRT weight if you asked my (worthless) opinion. If you can get the above-mentioned level of protection and shave a pound or two... then you are moving in the right direction.

It'll take another major war to see real Innovation again though.

Which action has highest barrel availability?

Origin.
Arc doesn’t make a nucleus anymore, they are all in on the cdg going forward.

But if you like your pre64 win70s, you’ll like the controlled round feed and mechanical ejection on the origin.

This was my train of thought. I said nucleus on my OP but I was actually thinking CDG. Thanks for bringing that up.

Today I shot one of my SPRs and boy does that thing just bring so much joy. I like the CRF. I'm looking up the 737r per the recommendations here but those do not appear to be CRF. I'm not dead set on CRF but I'll probably lean that way a bit more than push feed.

Someone murdered Charlie Kirk

I hit an Antelope with my 30-06 using 168 Berger VLD hunting in the neck and it was basically a through and through pencil hole. Antelope dropped like a stone.

Having killed my share of animals, I saw nothing unusual. It simply looked to me like a bullet that hit a shallow soft tissue area and the carotid artery penciling through.

I once knew a man who shot more deer than anyone I've ever known. Many of them illegally but that's beside the point. He always hunted with a Rem 700 22-250. He said he would not shoot unless he could get a neck shot. DRT every time. Usually in their tracks, and never had to track any.

Someone murdered Charlie Kirk

I'm not sure if this it true or not. Charlie's widow is supposedly pregnant with her third child.

Someone murdered Charlie Kirk

After watching and filtering info for the past few days, I'm convinced the .gov is lying to us again.

If I was a leftist assassin, I damn sure wouldn't waste getaway time by breaking a bolt action rifle down for a more easily portable package. Why even reassemble it later to just ditch it? The intended job of the murder weapon was already satisfied.

As others have pointed out from the photo of the reported murder weapon, the scope is waaay far back in the rings. Anyone 6ft tall that shoulders that and sends a round is going to have some serious scope eye.

How many other murder victims have you seen thrown in a casket so quickly? Normally, at least a week goes by for a detailed autopsy documenting bullet path/s to determine the direction of the shots.

We are being played again.
