WARNING on Freedom Munitions .308Win 168gr A-Max

I bought 1000 rds of this ammo at the tail end of Covid (because who knew what was coming),
So the ammo was purchased 3 or 4 years ago?

and selectively shot it in a Ruger RPR and Christensen MPR, and had several primers blow out and get stuck in the bolt face. Not a huge problem in a bolt gun.
Really?
How is that not a huge problem?

But then I shot this ammo through my Ruger SFAR and also Ruger SR-762, and this is when I realized this ammo is truly defective and unacceptable.
Ummmm. . . .
With all of the above HUGE issues exposed when you first started shooting this ammunition, is it reasonable to assume that you should have realized this immediately rather than months or years later?

The primer blow-outs continued, and led to primers getting stuck between the BCG and upper, requiring me to use brass punches to hammer the BCG out and clear the problem. Upon deep cleaning, some pieces of primer had even made it into the firing pin opening, jamming the firing pin (this also happened with the Christensen).
I contacted Freedom and send pictures of several of the shells with blown out primers, and also of the 720 remaining rounds, and allowed for several days for some sort of action from Freedom, to replace the ammo, but no joy; hence this warning to others.
I'm not defending Freedom.
Since this ammo is showing serious issues across multiple factory rifles, I am sure it is shitty quality and maybe even dangerous.

However. . . . I think you are past your prime window of legitimate bitching by waiting years after the purchase to complain.

Your PVA prefit experience

I don't have an Osprey. I've been really happy with the Rock Creek prefits that I've purchased over the years. If I timed the sale, I was in for around $500, which seemed fair for a prefit, especially given all the options that they have programed in over at PVA.

I don't need an Osprey. I'm not shooting PRS, I'm not shooting benchrest, I'm shooting steel and anything around 1 MOA is going to work great for me. This isn't a knock, but at that price I can swing for the moon and get a Brux, Bartlein, etc. What kept me coming back to PVA was a great barrel at a great price, with way more options for customization than anyone else doing prefits offered. Anyway, useful to know that the lower (cheaper) tier of barrel isn't coming back.
It's a supply issue, when Rock has the capacity I have no problem ordering barrels from them to provide a lower cost option. Rock and PVA worked well together for years and they make an exceptional product. When they're busy and aren't accepting PO's something needs to be done or we go out of business... hence the Ospreys. When we can get Rocks for special projects I still order them and we run occasional sales on those blanks, but I don't have any currently with which to do so. I'm certainly not going to shut down everything invested into the Osprey brand as a result of being able to fill a few PO's on less costly blanks.

Recall back in 2000 there was no Brux, Hawk Hill, Bartlein was either very new and largely unknown or they didn't exist either. In the 25 years since then we've seen several very high end companies come to market and I think we've earned the reputation at this point to be one of those companies. That's not a knock on the brands you're putting on a pedestal, it's just a comparison of the data.

I do disagree with your pricing assessment though, considering that the current retail price is over $450 and a price increase was just announced by Bartlein that takes effect tomorrow. The shops that produce comparable work to us are well not chambering blanks for $150-200.

As far as BR or F class grade performance: Ospreys have won PRS, F class, BR and other matches over the past 4 seasons. The Steel Safari winner used an Osprey 6 Creed that had 2000 rounds on it and even now it's still shooting extremely well. He called to let me know how impressed he was with the longevity at that performance and ordered another.

If it's not the right product for you, I understand and I don't take any offense to it. I would prefer that you not throw rocks at us for offering a product that does work for many others even if we're not currently making something that fits your needs. When we can offer specials in the future I have every intention to do so.

That’s 💯🔥!

I have that same exact scope, but without the L17A1 and NSN markings.

Anyone know of a good laser engraver in the states that can add those markings on? 😂

Convicted Sex Offender works for Minn. Dept. of Education

The person at Southwestern Oregon Community College who is the director of the GED program is a convicted sex offender. He did time in prison after being convicted of molesting some of his students as a high school teacher. BOD of the college see no issue with this and say he is 'reformed' even though there have been allegations made about his behavior in his current position. He was hired directly to SWOCC after being released from prison. Sex Offender Hiring

Our worthless governor proposed two bills earlier this year, one to reduce the requirements of who must register as a sex offender and the other to remove a 2026 deadline to classify 18,000 sex offenders. Seems the state can't/won't work fast enough to classify them. At this time Oregon has 33,000 sex offenders and over half are not classified.

Looking for a truck gun

I get it. My “truck guns” are 16” 223wylde or 18” 6.5 Grendel small frames. Both fit under the rear seat of a 4door Chevy with a LPVO or full sized optic. Neither have any question of legality. Neither require notification to cross a state line. It’s just easier.
Yep, I'll take that any day; I have Sylvan folding stock adapters on a couple as well. They work fine for reducing length for transportation if that's a consideration as well.
