Results April 2025 Topstraps Rimfire Challenge

April shoot is in the books, was REALLY cold and blustery on Friday, started off cold and calm but as the day went on wind picked up. Saturday was a bit better but could still see your breath and Sunday got up to 60 and decent. Not a big turnout, not sure if cold conditions, a few other shoots going on or maybe some are just getting tired of the matches but those that came had a good time.

I added a few new targets for the bonus, mini little gongs going from 6" down to 1", I thought they looked like little frog heads so called it Frogger, you hit the first you jumped to next one, you missed you jumped back. You got 8 shots at 6 targets. If you got all 6 straight thru I gave you the last two points as a bonus. A few managed to do it straight thru.

Scores continue to go up a bit as more shooters are using better ammo, lots of Lapua SLR being used even though it's hard to snatch up. You sure can tell the difference watching thru the spotting scope and seeing the hits on the targets. Some still enjoy using upper middle range ammo and trying to beat the high end ammo scores. Chris and I shot peep sighted gun, I used an old Winchester 52D and He used a BSA Martini MK II, we both used SK Biathlon. He shot in mid day with bad lighting and I shot earlier with overcast skies so the targets stood out. Really fun using these old guns on 4moa targets from 25 yards out to 197 yards. He got 5 of the bonus and I only got 4. Cuda used $1.06/50 Aguilla and he actually didn't do bad but some places It prob had a 100fps spread it was off so far but he had fun, he showed them last year, using Lapua SLR and the same gun he won the match besting all the big guns. Makes ya wonder, it's all in the ammo.

Anyway, Randy Wise used his McGowen barreled Anschutz Pistol to eek out the win by reverse count. Seems that new barrel is gonna be a shooter. Kurt was on his way to besting Randy but at the end missed a Pizza piece and a 2" circle to let Randy earn the win. Was a nail biter watching both of them shoot. A couple other competitors also earned a place on the shoot shack ceilig by hitting the 197 yard rack 10" down to 1" in 10 shots with no misses. Good Job Dustin Kettlewell and Jeff Clark. Free entries for next month go to Randy Wise in A class, Dave Callipare in B class and Cuda Gatten in C class.

On to the Scores: All ties decided by reverse count. Max possible points 92 with all bonuses.

What Year was she born?

Hayden.

Sorry I see the serial # now.

91 = 2009.

Correct. It is a 2009. Serial number starts with 91.

Box is a little rough. But here is the end label. It is a real deal Marlin production and is pre-Rem & pre-Ruger. Included is the original owners manual, the unopened original hammer spur, Marlin sticker, and the original set screws for the reciever scope mount.

Last one on GB sold for $2050 was missing the front sight hood and didn't have any of the boxes, docs, the Marlin SS hammer spur or the Leupold.

Will run this here for a week then put it on GB with several other oddball freedom seeders.
