I’ve been and lived all over the world. Over 7 million butt-in-seat flight miles in 40 years of flying. All 7 continents, including Antarctica.

Can you *find* worse police corruption? Of course. But when I tell Euros, Asians, South Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, etc about Civil Asset Forfeiture or any of a half-dozen other “LE” abuses even the LEOs around the world don’t believe me, because they don’t even play that shit.

So yeah, Murica the Beautiful is still #1 overall, but our US vs THEM attitude and hyper-militarized LEO training has turned global perception of American Law Enforcement into a sick joke of Gestapo proportions.

Speaking of cheap practice rounds. lol

I was using some factory seconds and even though I got sub moa results most of the time I would get fliers. Sometimes just enough to wreck a cloverleaf and at the worst
bring it back to moa. In fact a lot of the time the load shot so well I forgot about the
factory seconds part.

I decided to try and figure out what the culprit was.

Manufacturing defects (seconds duh), tolerance stacking, inattention to detail,
bad luck of the draw (arbitrarily picking the shortest bullets to measure) and possibly
rounding off measurements for a "nominal" in the wrong direction. And a few generally poor decisions.

The factory packaged bullets had a 0.003 max to minimum on both base to ogive
and length dimensions. The seconds bulk packed had 0.010 length variance
and 0.006 base to ogive.

This put some bullets just at touch on the lands, not good for an AR. Remember the poor decision reference, I decided that a coal of 2.23 was a cool number, no it didn't
give enough jump for the longest of the bullets but sure was impressive with the others.

Luckily these bullets are known to be jump tolerant I will try another 0.010 thousands should ease my pain. I will have to live with the nominal coal now being 2.22
the horror, the horror.

Funny thing is if I had been using the good factory bullets it may never have came up
and been weight sorting by now. lol

In, IIRC, 7th grade we did a class field trip to Boston and all of the guys in my class found some street hawker selling these and we each dumped about $5 to get one. $5 in 1979-ish would have bought you a used car. Our parents were very disappointed in us!!!

The first rounds I shot through this barrel (pic in OP) were with pretty spicy 2000-MR loads and still had short stroking. Figured I'd try some N140 at near max loads to see if there was any difference. I will definitely be running some factory hornady 103 eld-x and 108 through as a benchmark and ensure a good seal by using clamp on gas block vs. set screw, etc. before considering anything else.

Hope you have a wonderful vacation and by the time you get back in a few weeks I hope to have everything sorted out on my end and if not I'll reach back out.

With the coverage by media being more propaganda than actual facts I will wait for an official statement by him or whatever comes out in a real factual investigation
