Noob Dope Card Questions

Do PRS events allow shooters to know the distance of targets prior to the match starting, or maybe before each stage? Yes, they give you a book/sheet of paper with target distances. Is the info on the card just generally to help with speed? it’s the dope/elevation for each target and then wind holds as well Is putting wind holds on dope cards a thing, I imagine a match can take hours so the wind would be changing all day? Takes like 2 minutes before each stage to get a wind reading and write your card out Are people just generally writing out the card 4dof generates so they can have it in an easy to reference location like on one of those pic holders or strapped to their stock? or on the wrist, hand etc if not attached to the rifle/scope
Here you can see how i have each target, D&B, with the elevation. And then in the columns I have the wind hold for a 3,6&9 mile per hour wind hold for both targets.

Nothing about yardage, those are known and calculated for. Just dial the right numbers for the right target letter.

Died Suddenly Documentary World Is Live On Rumble

Remember, that it was not a 'thing' in the media until THE VERY DAY that Bernie and Bloomberg bowed out of the Democrat Primary and left the dementia-ridden Potato to be placed into office by mail-in voting.

It was know. It was circulating. It was being talked about. Buddy and I both got it in Jan 2020. And we knew the name. It was not until March that the press went "Full Pandemic" and the schools were shut and the grannies killed. THAT begin on the very day that the DNC nominee began his campaign locked in his basement. And got a record number of votes.

It was also ALL discussed here on SH pretty much from the beginning. Long before this thread started. It's all here, somewhere. Discussed, dissected. Including skepticism (in particular) about Fox and other news outlets. This place was 2 years ahead of the curve...

But there ya go.

Lets see your USMC M40-M40A6!!!

Did McMillan sell the early version of the A4, the “big hook” on the open market? I acquired one, just curious if it’s got any history or not. Thanks
Yes, there are a few examples of the early large butthook McMillan A4 stocks in private collections that were sold to civilians in the very beginning of the production run. However, even those early civilian A4 stocks are very rare. One of the members of this forum has one on one of his M40A3 clones.

McMillan also came out with the large butthook A4 stocks more recently. The started by taking the Winchester M70 A4 mold and inletting it for the Remington 700SA receiver. It worked pretty well and they produced some number of stocks. I don't know if they moved on from using the M70 mold on the newer large butthook stocks, or if the found the original mold or made a new mold for the 700SA rifles. Just know that McMillan has produced these large butthook stocks within the past few years.

Is your stock old or new? Does it have a number stamped or written anywhere on it (check the barrel channel)? This number isn't the serial number, it's probably a number from the original run of the stocks in regards to how many were made. Please post photos when you have time.

Rifle Scopes New Schmidt & Bender PM2 6-36x56

I first saw those crappy plastic battery caps on Aussie market S&B scopes, and it was for regulatory reasons.

Australia was the first place I know of that had a law that required all devices with coin or button style batteries to have child resistant battery compartments... The law probably went into effect after the scopes were designed which is why that new battery cap looks like a rushed afterthought.

Hopefully the service department can sell you the nice finger removable aluminum ones...
We started getting them some time ago here in Aus... S&B Germany have been excellent though and on request have sent out the "Old" replacement caps ..
By "Law" they have to ship the scopes with the "Safety" caps installed !!

2025 Scout Sniper Association M40A5 rifle raffle!

Does it even come with the suppressor? Just see it in the pictures I wasn’t sure.
Great question, and that's one I'll have to get back to you on with a detailed answer. There is no silencer included with the rifle, since this raffle is legal in all 50 states, but silencers are only legal in 42 states. It's much easier to raffle off a rifle without the silencer do to state laws that can vary quite a bit.

I need to ask JT (president of the SSA) if we are including a certificate for a silencer with this raffle. In previous years we've worked with SureFire and have included a certificate for a free silencer. However, SureFire no longer makes the correct FA762SS silencer for this rifle, so if there is a certificate for a free silencer for the raffle winner, it would have to be for one of their currently produced silencers.
I discussed this with JT yesterday, and unfortunately we don't have a silencer or silencer certificate for this M40A5 package. We decided not to include a silencer because of the issues with legality if the prize winner is in a ban state. And after looking at the current production SureFire silencers, we decided not to get a certificate for the wrong silencer (incorrect for this M40A5). Rarity and high price were also issues for adding an original silencer to this kit.

It would have been nice to have an original SureFire FA762SS silencer with this package, but it just didn't work out. We try to do our best with these raffle sniper rifles, and we want to put the most emphasis on the rifle itself since the M40xx's have became a defacto symbol of the Marine Scout Snipers. Even though a silencer or certificate for a silencer isn't included, I don't think that detracts from such an amazing rifle that was built by 2 of the best 2112 armorers in the Marine Corps.

@Jrb572, thank you very much for the question, and I'm glad that I finally have an answer for you. If anyone else here has any questions about this M40A5 raffle rifle, please ask them in this thread and I'll do my best to provide a detailed answer.

Thanks again to everyone who has purchased tickets! The raffle is going very well, and we still have a few weeks left until the May 5th drawing. The money raised from this raffle is going to help a lot of Marines in our community, so it's an absolute blessing to see this level of support for our mission!
