New Rifle: Seekins Havak HIT

So great to hear so many people are discovering these things. I can't believe how late I was to the party. I made sure to grab an optic with locking elevation turrets and easy reset windage so it's easy to zero out turrets per zero for each barrel.

Now I just really need to find a 223 bolt and barrel!
The HIT offering was an easy button to get into my first PRS flavored type rifle. My last precision rifle was a Savage 110 Precision from years back. I started to look into higher quality type barreled actions and chassis and took the plunge. The HIT will only entice you into other options like MPA, Manners, and all the items of the like. Tons of knowledge here on the forum

Ukraine war Bullshit.

Both sides have been well aware of this for years. The Russians decided to pull the mask off so, just maybe, willfully ignorant western npc drones will look even stupider than before.

Ideas for Repurposing a 300 PRC

If F-Class is really something hes looking into, you'll probably want to look at the 7-6.5 PRC. Only real swap to get going is the barrel.

Otherwise, perhaps something in a lighter hunting-type build might be his thing. Any magnum cartridge is a possibility, but if he has good and reliable feeding already it wouldn't be a bad idea to stick with a 7 or 300 PRC.

This is one of those questions where 100 guys will give 100 different answers.

Misleading.

In a SHTF situation the Shankster girl would be of more use. She'd be a rich source of oil, and the blubber could be eaten after the oil was squeezed out, and there'd be a lot of it. Bigger stronger bones for tools. And there wouldnt be any competiton with every other male trying to perpetuate his 'jeans'. Finally, it couldnt run as fast when fall slaughter time came.

Shankster girl for the win.

An unapologetic thread about "manly" things...

I agree that watches are a status symbol, but only for people who care, which is a small minority. The only one worth having, for me, and that’s recognized by non-watch people, is the Rolex GMT Master with the Pepsi Bezel. Growing up on James Bond movies it’s the only watch I ever wanted. They’re like $12k now just for a regular one.

Truth be told quartz watches keep better time, but they’re effected by the Earth’s magnetic field. Only mechanical watches are unaffected near the poles.

Dive computers are more conservative than tables, but you actually get more bottom time because they’re constantly recalculating and you are not penalized for travel time at the bottom time rate.

I used to do an advanced class on saturation rates, and the old Navy tables are considerably more conservative than the Padi or Naui tables. Yes, a few more minutes on a first dive, but look at the sit times! Navy tables are controlled by bone, and you drop letters very slowly. The dive agency tables are controlled by cartridge, and you drop letters fast, which makes sense for multiple, shallow resort diving (max what 140). You are much more likely to get bent off gassing from soft tissue than firmer tissue.

Had the first Scubapro Bend-o-Matic, donated to dive museum, Oceanic with the big ass LCD is my current choice as my arms are not long enough to see the smaller ones. My buddy uses first stage transducer to wrist mount, did not work well in Antarctica, hose mount more better. Tables who uses those anymore?

Range Hard Cases? Condition 1, Apache, or just Pelican?

I would not recommend condition 1 rifle cases.
Bought a new rifle from Master Piece Arms and it came with a hard case which I thought was great. The case was pre-cut didn’t really fit. The foam is glued in upside down and backwards otherwise bolt down serial number down muzzle towards the wheels. Not impressive at all, and it is extremely heavy.

Which is the best AR-10 without barrel deflection: the Geissele MRGG or the Seekins SP10M?

That is interesting… Looking at it though, my inclination is that this is more of a mechanism to make the entire receiver/hand guard assembly more rigid (less wobble) vs. a way to remove the hand guard from the upper. I’d expect some type of “bridge” type scope mount to tie the upper to the hand guard will accompany this.

Of course I could be completely wrong…if they wanted it all tied together, why not just add the lower receiver tie in to a hand guard that’s already attached to the upper receiver too; maybe even a monolithic upper. 🤷‍♂️

And of course tying the upper, lower, and hand guard together negates a simple two-pin take down mechanism too, so that doesn’t really make sense either. But having the hand guard attached to the lower would make it difficult, if not impossible, to remove the upper receiver/barrel assembly anyway…maybe there’s enough clearance to release the pins, rotate the upper, and the slide it out? 🤷‍♂️

Edit: And how would you pull the BCG for a quick field strip/cleaning without first removing the hand guard?

So yeah, interesting… The more I look at this, the more questions I have! LoL
It does seem this way. The ARCA option with Picatinny may work, but what rigidity is it adding?
