1/2 moa to 3-4 moa. Help

Hello Everyone,

Rifle Specs:
Seekins SP10M 6.5CM
March 4.5-28
Area 419 1 piece cantilever.
TBAC Bipod

Ammo.
135 Berger Classic Hunter
2.810 oal
Don’t remember BTO off top of my head
42.1gr h-4350
Alpha LRP 1x fired brass NOT annealed
Fed 210M
Heavy Taper Crimp
1/2-3/4 moa
SD typically 7-8 fps
2,850 FPS

I’ve been putting a lot of time behind my SP10M in 6.5CM lately. The rifle was absolutely hammering. Outshooting bolt gun buddies out to 1,300 yards. It’s literally the most fun I’ve ever had behind a rifle.

Anyways over the weekend I took the rifle out, checked zero. Shot 3 inside of a quarter. Adjusted scope right .2 and down .2 Another quarter sized group. All velocities recorded via garmin while zeroing 2848fps average. 6.5sd

Rifle is zeroed

Then i dialed for 700 and sent it. Miss right, correct for wind, miss farther right, correct further for wind miss way left.

Hmmm. Let’s step back to 500
Miss way high, miss way way low, left, right. Extremely erratic.

Getting nervous now. Back to 100 yards

Same ammo 3 shots about 1.5-2 moa group.
Uhhh ohh. Grab some factory loaded 142 smks from Defender ammo. 5 shot group 3-4 moa

Okay, scope must be loose.
Check mount with torque wrench
All screws correctly torqued.

Put fresh paper up at 100 yards
Anchor rifle down tight on metal bench
Dial up 20 Mils, then down 20 Mils, back to same spot. This isn’t a proper tracking test but it’s what I got.

What the hell has happened to my baby?

Rear bag dilemma

I’m really having an issue with seating my rifle (rear bag) I bench shoot not prone ,I’ve been threw numerous bags including making my own.I know its me it appears that I’m doing something wrong can’t seem to keep the rear of stock stable it slides either forwards or backwards.Could use some advice on what I’m doing wrong.Bergara HMR 6.5cm

New Berger 375 bullet 410 hybrid

Berger just announced a new cup and core bullet. Looks like a good alternative to the 390 Atip.

Accessories PRICE DROP Howa 1500 Mini Action Legacy Sports Black Polymer Ammo Boost Floor Plate

This floor plate allows the use of removable magazines. This doesn't come with a magazine. (They don't make these floor plates anymore, but you can still get the mags at midwest gun works for $34.) They have them for 223/556 and 6arc/6.5 grendel/7.62x39.
This is for the Howa Mini Action. Distance between action screws is 6.75"
$45 SHIPPED.

37XC and Berger 410s

After (finally) getting some Berger 410s in for my 37XC, I was able to get out to a private range to do an initial test using N570. The issue is that I was unable to find any load data whatsoever. As such, I decided to start a thread here for others who might either be using the 410s in their 37XCs or for those who might be looking for information.

For my first foray, all I had to go on was my limited exploration of 390 ATips - my entire previous experience had been with much lighter bullets (Lehigh 353s). With the Lehighs, I had gotten decent results with H1000, but I think that such a speed powder would be too fast for a bullet weighing 57 grains more. With the ATips, I used 120gr of N570 and it seemed to do okay for the limited amount of time I tried that bullet.

For the 410s, I decided to do a shortened ladder starting at 114.5gr and going up at 1gr increments so I could attempt to find pressure. I also loaded up 6 foulers - 3 at 116gr and 3 at 117gr.

Here is the average velocity for each of these charge weights:

Temp: 85 F Humidity: 30%
Seating depth (essentially randomly chosen): .020"
4 shots each, except for the two fouling loads (116 and 117), which were 3 each.

114.5gr 2849 fps
115.5gr 2873 fps
116gr 2873 fps
116.5gr 2886 fps
117gr 2900 fps
117.5gr 2920 fps - very slight heavy bolt lift
118.5gr 2935 fps - heavy bolt lift
119.5gr Loaded, but did not fire due to pressure at 118.5

Here are the groups - not that I was shooting for groups, but it's interesting to see. Of note, the lower end of the ladder felt like big heavy pillows pushing me back. At the higher end, it was hard recoil - and my shoulder started to hurt. I'm likely going to play in the 116 to 117 range.

Also note that this was a reused target - disregard the Shoot n' See targets on the lower left.

How good are Custom Rifle Barrels?

Not a custom rifle barrel but the Custom Rifle Barrel blanks made by Austin Orgain aka ACE Precision. I know these are the offshoot of the Hawk Hill barrels with a new owner. New owner new issues? Starting and running a business is hard work.

I'm looking for benchrest accuracy, (aren't we all) not pretty. I have been running cut rifling barrels for several years, Proof, Kreiger and Bartlein, with Bartlein being my current favorite. Never tried the Hawk Hill now CRB barrels.

Then you have the whole 4 groove vs 5 groove argument. The 5R might be easier to clean. But that might be a whole different discussion.

Leica PRS vs Vortex Gen 3 Razor 6-36x

So I went to check out the Gen3 Vortex 6-36 and buy it with a 30% off cert, but I wanted to check out the Leica PRS 5-30x and side by side them.
I expected to like them both about equally, and leave with the Vortex, which I did, but I really liked the Leica glass, more than I thought I would.

Everything I read comparing the two, gave the nod to the Razor as being better glass. The Leica was quite a bit brighter, and I liked the thickness of the Leica reticle a bit more. I think the Leica was useable down to 12x, whereas the Razor needed to be at about 25x to see the little sub tensions. I like the Razor turrets a bit more, though I love tool-less turrets.

I had a Gen 2 4.5-27 Razor, and my memory thinks that one was brighter than the Gen 3. I must be crazy lol.

The Leica reminded me a lot of my Kahles 6-24i, but maybe with a bit more resolution in the Leica. the Leica was very bright and crisp, whereas the Vortex was very good, but didn't exactly wow me.

What are your thoughts on these two? They are basically the same price. I have a TT 5-25, Schmidt Bender 5-25 with the DTII+ turrets, and I love them, but I wanted something less expensive for a 22LR build.

Looks like the Leica has quite a bit bigger FOV, being that it's 30x on the top end.

I need to get the Vortex to the range and check it out more thoroughly, but I'm feeling like I made a mistake.

SOLD Tangent Theta 5-25 Gen 3 XR

Sadly my match days are slowing down due to new life commitments as a dad. Don’t need this scope sitting around collecting dust.

I’ll start with the bad, the object cap doesn’t spring open but once it’s flipped all the way open, it will stay open. How I got it from the previous owner. The windage knob has a little brass rash on it as well. Past that, it’s everything you’d expect a Tangent to be. Asking 3650 shipped, or trade for a kahles dlr 5-25 lsw with cash on top.

Mount is not for sale.
