6mm ARC vs 6mm Max

Hey all, been awhile since I've posted here and hoping to get the Hide's advice on an upper build I am looking at pursuing. I currently have a 16" 223 Wylde build that is my do all rifle based on a Seekins lower with LMT SOPMOD stock, Spikes T2 buffer, Tubbs flat wire spring, and Geissele SSA-E trigger. I'm looking to build two additional uppers, one in a 300blk for CQB work, and a 6mm offering as a DMR type platform to reach out to the 1000m territory and possibly use in PRS competition.

For the DMR build precision and reliability are my top priority, which has me in the pickle over 6mm ARC vs 6mm Max. I've read a lot about both cartridges here and elsewhere, and while 6mm ARC has more history and development, I'm concerned about some of the things I've read about reliability. Magazine feeding (although it sounds like that's been getting better with newer designs) and bolt lug/extractor failures. I've also read about the 6 ARC running excessively dirty particularly when suppressed, which I am planning on running a suppressor for this build (probably a flow through design that would hopefully mitigate some of dirtiness). That being said, 6 ARC sounds like it handles the heavier projectiles better that would be suited for long range work (I'm thinking about 20-22" barrel for what it's worth).

Now onto 6mm Max, I like the idea that on paper it sounds more reliable using a standard 223/5.56 bolt face. But I know it still requires proprietary magazines, and there's been very little development/literature out on the cartridge. I know it also won't handle some of the larger projectiles over 105 grain.

So should I try the new kid on the block that might fizzle out completely (6mm Max), or go for the more tested but possibly more finicky 6 ARC? I do reload so factory ammo availability isn't as much of a concern for me. I appreciate any guidance you guys have!

Tikka T3 A1 / Barrel - Yuck

I bought a Tikka A1 308 from my LGS awhile back. Have taken it to the range a couple of times and it functions fine but the groups were a bit big - Well over 1MOA
1739846992693.jpg
, but didn't think too much about it since I was shooting crappy ammo

Took it over to a buddies after shooting last weekend to work on it. While there he ran his bore scope down the barrel - Can't say I really know what I am looking at but it doesn't look good - Yuck!

Is that pitting? Rust?

How would you suggest I proceed with this barrel? Thoughts?

Accessories Rubber Feet for Ckye Pod Double & Triple Pull

UPDATE 4/28: Ski feet now available!

ski1.png

-----

Hello Ckye users!

I've been making the adaptor feet for double pulls to allow the use of Atlas rubber feet, it has been a surprisingly popular product. But despite of what appears of a simple design, it's not too straightforward to make (if I have a bar feed, live tooling, Y-axis lathe, that'd be a different story), and it also bothers me that you still need to purchase the Atlas rubber feet separately.

So this holiday season I took some time to update the design, and now I'm happy to offer a direct rubber feet replacement for both of the double and triple pull Ckye bipod.

I will continue making the adaptors for a while, but think the rubber feet will work the best for most people at a lower overall cost. Both can be purchased here: https://dotechne.com/feet-and-reducing-sleeve-for-mdt-ckye-pod-double-triple-pull-bipod/

SOLD NightForce NXS 5.5-22x56mm with NP-R2 Reticle. (Old School) Cheap....

I have an older Nightforce NXS up for sale. This one is Old School as it doesn't have the ZS or HS Turrets. It has the NP-R2 Reticle that is one of my favorites and no longer available. It has some scratches and small marks from being in the safe, but the Glass is Flawless and it Tracks Perfectly. No box or Sunshade. I used this on my Deer Rifle and whacked many White Tail Deer with it.

Only $850 Shipped.

Firearms Curtis Vector / 5x5 Precision BA 223 $1325

This is a catch and release for me... Its a Curtis Vector action spun up by 5x5 precision in 223 W/Trigger Tech trigger. I was told by the original owner that all was new when put together and has less than 60 rnds on it. To me - It looks very clean and everything is very smooth. I think I paid $1,650 shipped

I bought it here on the hide awhile back with the intent to build a 223... Have seen other 5x5 stuff and it Hammers, so was excited to get it but never got around to the build.

Needs a new home. $1,450 LAST PASS $1,325 Plus actual cost of shipping/ins

Thanks for looking

Possible trades +/- cash (only interested in fair to both)
