Gay wedding

I just need to vent a little , I have a niece that's marrying a butch woman , got the invitation back in the summer , the weddings next week , I never responded to the rsvp , mostly because I don't condone same sex marriage, so my brother calls (he's the grandfather) and asked if I'm going ,I let him know my stance on the matter and I won't be attending , I'm a Christian and I know I shouldn't judge others lest I be judged , but I'm not going to celebrate something I consider a sin , and yes I'm a sinner too , but the difference is I'm ashamed of my sins I don't celebrate them , still can't believe we have a pride month, my mom who's 86 said she's not attending either so at least I won't be the only family member not going , I'm I being a prude for not caving in to this shit , it will probably ruin my relationship with her father who I am sorta a second father to , but I guess that's the price I have to pay for standing up for my beliefs, what say the hide .

Homemade knife

The knife fight thread got me to thinking about this knife:

IMG_0328.jpeg

I’m not sure where my grandpa (born in 1901) got it, or if he made it, but it came to me when he passed in 1989. I’ve never used it, nor have I seen it used, but it’s still shaving sharp. No clue what kind of metal but it attracts a magnet.

Nine inches overall, with a 5 in blade.

IMG_0329.jpeg

The handle seems to be wrapped in some sort of plastic wrap. I thought it was plastic-wrapped wire but it’s not heavy enough for wire, and it doesn’t attract a magnet.

IMG_0330.jpeg

IMG_0332.jpeg

The sheath has a metal liner in what appears to be some sort of rubber-lined hose material.

No idea how old it is. The phrase “Try it you’ll like it” was popularized in 1971 as part of an Alka-Seltzer ad campaign but he could have written it later. Looks pretty wicked.

Barrel for ELR with an AIAXMC

Hi all,

I'll start (re) introducing myself, - as far as shooting goes - i started shooting competitively in 1980, and have been touching most disciplines that use rifled barrels. Norwegian, and won a couple of F-Class nationals, shot both PRS WCs, going to Cameo.
My main interest was always long range, and the longer the better.
I bought my first 338LM in 2009 and we had a sort of start to an ELR thing here in Norway, shot a few matches (nothing past 2500m), but it died, and PRS came along - but now we see matches coming up, and it looks fun, as it used to.

Since i bought an AIAXMC mostly for the heck of it a few years back (and used it, w. the 260Rem barrel in Bitche - i have an AI and a 338LM barrel - the typical 27" Palma profile AI 338 barrel. Shot it quite a bit at 1250, and and a little at 1600m.
I have pondered custom stuff, modern ELR cartridges and even 416Barrett, shot a couple, and yada... To expensive, too much fuss - and my old Barnard could hold its own out quite far.
The AI however is a bit too tactical, barrel is "thin", at 27" i get not enough speed, accuracy is fair w. Berger 300 (its everything short of "very good") it groups within a moa at 1000m or at least almost... But SD/ES issues, besides its light, etc - in short i do not find it optimal for ELR work, and it absolutely does not shoot brass/copper bullets.

So my gunsmith has these two blanks. Lilja 9" twist. 30 and 32" long. I plan to not use the magazine for this, but seat bullets just short of the donout area, and then also get some more case volume. I have thougt of an 338LM improved, but i doubt it - for ease of everything.
Main concern and reason for this post is twofold.

- What profile? What length? 32" MTU? Anyone done a stepped barrel, thinner in front of the handguard? Flutes? (yes for looks ;) ) Speed, stiffness. balance? Someone must know where is the optimum?
- Barrel and bullets - will the Lilja shoot solids? Tell me about solids? Warners, Peregrines? We do have a supply issue her in Norway, and Bergers are not always to be had - today i shoot 285gr ELDMs. They are not bad, but i want solids, and we also face a lead ban. And Peregrines we have ready access to

Anyone has a thought on anything concerning an AIAX in 338LM for ELR? Everything is appreciated. And solids.

6mm ARC Bolt Gun Loadings

I have finished a 6mm ARC bolt action, and there's not a whole lot of data out. . Been fooling with the 6 arc in first a 18 inch and then a 22 in semi for the last year, so I have some baseline and experience with loading the cartridge. Did a shake down was with 10 rounds factory 108 eldm, and then a first ladder that started with Varget and the ( GAP ) Hornady 109 ELDM. Ran the ladder from 26 to 28, with depth at .020 of the lands. Liking what I am seeing, but worried I may be a bit over pressure. Hornady lists 28.1 to be max with the 108 eldm, I'm at 28. Sure seems the loads listed through Hornady seem to be much higher than other loading resources, such as Hodgdon. Ran it through GRT, and the program estimates 65 k using the 110 Atip ( modified in weight ) as the projectile. Brass looks perfect, but this is my first experience with the Nucleus receiver having no plunger ejector. Also, primers look slightly dimples in from pin strike. GRT estimates 26 inch barrel at 2822 fps and i was at ~2750, which would be about perfect.

Any one any experience with said combo or close, or could run this through Quickload if they have the time. Thanks in advance
