45-70 reloading question

Hello everyone and greetings to the forum.
I made a search around the forums regarding the subj, but all treads look way too old, so i decided to start a new one (admins, please have mercy).

I have a modern replica of Sharps rifle (from Chiappa, Italy) with 32" barrel, and cannot find a reliable reloading data combo for 300 and 350 grn fmj bullets and powders I use (H335 and Benchmark, to be specific).
So, I have a very general question: what's a desirable and reasonable muzzle velocity for 300 and 350 grn bullets for this particular rifle?
Thanks all folks in advance.

PS The AI gave me the numbers that look reasonable to me - but I am too old fashioned guy to trust those things without double check :) Thanks again.

LRFB vs. Binos + RF

With the sale of the revic BLR10b binos, I am heavy rethinking my separate bino and RF combo I currently have. I was already planning to upgrade from the Athlon Cronus and sig Kilo 3k rangefinder I have to better glass, but the revic peaks the interest at $1700.

I’ve heard the argument from several others that it’s nice to have the two separate so you can upgrade glass and RF separately as tech changes or glass quality increases. Is this really something people do anymore or has pretty much everyone switched over to a combo set? Anyone make the switch and regret it one way or the other? Also, any thoughts on the revics would be greatly appreciated. I hunt in the southeast and have a couple bigger out west hunts booked for next year. Just curious if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Spotter or no spotter?

I just got a new rifle scope on a Black Friday deal for a NightForce NX8 4-32x now I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth packing a spotter on my hunts or if I should save the weight and space, then use the rifle scope when I need the magnification.
A little background I don’t hunt solo, and in my group there’s usually at least 2 guys who run spotters or big eyes. I glass with just binoculars 95% of the time, and really just pull out the spotter for confirmation that a deer is worth going after. Hunts are typically in Arizona for coues, occasionally we put in for mule deer.

I’m thinking I can just pull out the rifle when I need confirmation on a deer, or look through one of my buddy’s spotters, but I also hate the idea of being underprepared even if I don’t need it.
The other option I’m considering the is small Vortex Razor 13-39x spotter. Its lightweight and small enough that I wouldn’t hate having it in the pack, even if it doesn’t get used. It’s also a lot easier to spend the money on that than the mini swaro at over 2x the price.

Just wanted to see what you guys think, better to have it and not need it, or better to save the weight and space.

Boeing 737 Max at it again

FAA Grounds Boeing 737 Max 9 Jets After Exit Door Incident

* a plug not an exit door
GDJdvvVXwAAPLyI.jpg

The Air Current reports that the exact jet involved in this incident had some pressurization issues the previous day.
On January 4, 2024, the same exact jet apparently had a pressurization warning light appear during taxi-in following a flight. The airline then decided to remove the jet from ETOPS operations (meaning the airplane couldn’t fly overwater), in line with the company’s maintenance rules. The same light appeared again later the same day while inflight.

Question about member regarding optics reviews

It's been a while since I've been here, but I finally got a nice rifle (SSG 69) and am in process of putting together funds for a NF ATACR FFP and recall that there was a member here who did nice reviews of optical products, a gentleman of Eastern European origin, IIRC. Does this ring a bell for anyone - would like to read up on some of his stuff.

Mike R,

SOLD SOLD!! - CNVD LR (Full Kit w/ Spec Sheet), Super Yoter C, Impact 4000 WLRF

Looking to sell a few things I likely won't get to use much the next year or so as I'm taking a new position at work that requires travel and I hope to start a family soon. I'm located in Iowa and happy to meet within a reasonable distance; can work on price a little if you want more than one item.

1. Minty CNVD LR (PVS24LR) with full kit and spec sheet. Took this in a trade but I don't shoot steel at night so sending this down the road. I took it from the original owner who bought it new back in May and it is in pristine condition (does not appear to be used hardly at all). 2556 FOM (72lp / 35.5 SNR), 0.5 EBI and 0.72 Halo. No spots on spec sheet, and very clean image from what I have seen (have had all of 2 nights behind it). If you keep things below 15x, I'd say this is 80% of the 3500 FOM PVS30 I sold but it weighs a pound less! Tube pic of a barn at 1400y at 18x through my MK5 (no illumination).

Recent L3 price increases put this at over $11.5k new (I know, some sites show them at $10.5k out of stock), I'm looking to get
$9500 shipped and insured. Sold

2. Super Yoter C V1 (can be used as a clip on or scanner) with everything from the factory and then some. In great shape with 2 years left on warranty (doubt you'll need it). This thing is ole faithful and has worked flawlessly for me in the year or so I've had it. Great FOV, good up to 10x or so, and can tell you the difference between a dog and deer at 500y or more. Digital zoom on this thing is very powerful; easy to get to 16x or 20x net magnification between the day optic and 2x or 4x digital. Very light, great mount, good battery life and compact. $300 in add ons included (ADM mount and 16650 battery adapter + 4x batteries and charger). Shot a raccoon at ~290y the other night with it. Looking for $3750 $3000 shipped and insured.

3. Vortex Impact 4000 with everything from the factory + MKM ARD and a tint holder printed by Cory T. Works great and the ballistics have been spot on for me (furthest range I've gotten is 3725 on a tree line so guess you'll have to trust it goes to 4k haha). Comes with 2 rechargeable SureFire CR123 batteries that work great in the cold (have used it down to 0F on a few nights). Looking for $1250 shipped and insured. Sold

Replacement Hoyt DFX cams

Since Hoyt doesn’t offer replacement cams for their top of the line bows from 7 years ago, I’m wondering if anyone is aware of any copies being produced?
Also kinda curious how much demand there is for them. If there are a bunch of guys out there with $2000 bows they have to throw in the garbage because they can’t get cams, I bet a company could make some money producing replacements.

Anyone have some 2017 30” Carbon Defiant #1 cams they want to sell?
