Who here has a custom Tikka action?

I'm seeing that the face of the Tikka action has a little bevel or chamfer around the circumference. Because of that, you can't spin on a 1.200" barrel without a little trench forming there at the junction. I'm seeing that some people have their receiver faces turned down to eliminate that bevel. My questions are 1. To get it completely flat, do any of the threads start getting removed when facing that receiver? 2. For those of you that have had theirs faced, what are the max barrel outside diameters that you can run now?

Anyone have any experience with Steiner?

I’m looking at a Steiner T432 prism red dot 4X36MM. Does anyone have any experience with one or with Steiner In general. I haven’t seen many reviews out there for them. I’m curious what others think before I purchase. Link below to optic im referring to.

SOLD Remington Defense Short Action “M24”

Remington 700 in 308, in HS Precision PST012 stock inlet for M5 bottom metal. Includes Badger M5 DBM and 1 Magpul mag. UPDATE - Just the BA for sale

Now, for the “M24” part. The action is a G series, with factory 8-40 scope base holes, bolt is Sandstrom Gray coated and last 4 are stamped on the bolt handle. Factory Remington M24 barrel stamped “308 WIN” with Remington proof marks. Has some finish wear. Only weird thing about the rifle is it had old school rifle sights installed by Remington. Don’t ask my why. The upside is the front screw holes are the correct position and spacing for a redfield front sight base (I have a .225 one if needed). Downside is the rear scope holes on the barrel just sit there. Cover them with a MIRS or MARS and no one will be the wiser.

$700 shipped for the Barreled Action.

New Potential Scammer Alert

Here’s a message I just received from someone when I replied to a thread for an item for sale that I had previous communication with and this is not the person who made the thread. I have already reported the person. And sent an email, just wanted to keep everyone informed…. It’s almost like they didn’t even try, username is no where near similar.

Intro into night vision hunting

Looking for some input regarding switching to night vision to night hunt instead of thermal. I have the Agm rattler ts25-256 thermal that I’ve been running and it seems to me that, as far as target acquisition goes, you can get into a “good” night vision setup for cheaper than you can get into a “good” thermal. From what I understand it’s cheaper to get a better IR Illuminator than a thermal with I higher resolution thermal censor. Plus I like the fact that you can differentiate your surroundings better with night vision where as if I miss coyote with a thermal it’s common that I shine a light and there’s a lot thicker brush there than I could see through my scope. Am I on the right track with my thinking? If so what are some good options for night vision optics and IR lights for sub $1500? Thank you

Making Swiss guys lose their minds

So I got bored, have this Swiss model 1911

IMG_7169.png

Looked around and saw they are still only 500 ish dollar rifles so fuck it, gonna chop it apart. The 7.5x55 Swiss is still a fantastic cartridge, along with this ones bore is superb, gonna leave it be and keep its barrel. Chopped it down to 16.5 inches, and lopped off the stock

IMG_7170.jpeg

Ordered a Williams sight that fits it. Drilled and tapped the reciever for the Williams, cut a picatinny and drilled and tapped the flat from the old rear sight for the picatinny(scout scope or rmr), drilled and tapped barrel for the front sight. Already got a couple coats of oil in the stock a ways to go on it.

Still need to thread the barrel and decide on a brake.

I know it’s gonna make some lose their shit but it’s mine so suck it

Colt-Style PCC 9mm Magazines Loading?

I have searched the internet but failed to find an answer.

As such, I am asking here.

Do the Colt-style 9mm magazines used for PCCs load top-down like a 5.56mm AR magazine (double stack / double feed) or do they load like a Glock magazine where you push the cartridge down and then slide it in (double stack / single feed)?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Last round in the mag POI shift?

In an extended conversation on another forum, a couple of folks are claiming that when shooting AR's, they consistently get a POI shift in the last round fired on a given magazine if the round is also the last round in the mag. This seems unlikely to be a mechanical thing to me, but I wanted to check and see if that sounded plausible to any of you guys?

Gunsmithing Savage Bolt slop fix?

howdy all, I have a savage 110 (long Action) that I've been dry fire practicing with. I've noticed that if I run the bolt fast while closing the bolt it'll hang up. I've also noticed that there is an awful amount of slop/wiggle while the bolt is open. is there any way to fix this/ tighten it up? This hasn't effected the accuracy of the rifle at all but its just annoying when I run the bolt it'll hang up and move the rifle off of the bags/rest.
