Looking for a 308 barrel for my at-x.

I am old school (an also old :-( ) I have always lapped rings and dusted with rosin before tightening. Never had anything move on the 50s. I am mounting a NF ACACR 7-35 FFP using NF Extreme Ultralight 6 screw rings on a Styer factory rail. I lapped the last set of Vortex 6 screw rings and it took quite a bit of lapping to get to 90% contact. This is on a suppressed Styer SSG 04 in 300 Win Mag so really not the same force as a fifty. This is the most expensive scope I have bought and do not want to leave ring marks on the scope but at the same time I do not want to wast my time lapping if it isn't going to be needed. I read on one post where it was not necessary with NF rings. The last set I used on a SSG 08 in 308 didn't have much at all to lap. That was for a NF NX8 so about half the price of this scope.

first test loads in my new 280AI build. Starting from 53.5gr H4831 and going up to 58gr. Shooting 3-shot groups at 200 yards.

Here’s an overlay. As you can see, the groups start at 53.5gr just under the point of aim, go down slightly, slide right, then go down again until you get the last (58gr) group at the bottom right.

trying to get my head around the left-to-right shift. What does it mean? Am I seeing a node in the 56.5-57.5gr range?

happy with the accuracy from this load, most of these groups are 1/2moa or better. Just trying to figure out what this sideways shift means, and if I can use this data to guess at a node. The chrono is giving me very consistent velocity changes of 20-30fps between load steps, so I’m not finding a node from chrono data.

I have a like brand new Kahles 318i SKMR 3 LSW. Also included is the new scope caps, throw lever and parallax spinner making this an awesome little scope. It has only been used once and has a small ding underneath the scope where rounds come out of the ejection port. Other than that, it is brand new in my eyes. Apple released their hearing test for AirPods and wanted to compare my hearing loss to other shooters.

For reference, I shoot a dozen or so matches a year. Most are .22 PRS type and I generally do NOT wear hearing protection due to mostly subsonic ammo and the general low noise. I DO wear hearing protection and use a suppressor for centerfire but also see a lot of muzzle breaks on the line during site in. I would estimate I shoot 5000+ rounds of RF a year and around 2000 CF rounds per year.

I will say that listening to my own breathing during the testing is annoying and I found myself trying to hold my breath at times.

I think I might do slightly better in a quieter environment. Will try again at night when nobody is up and around.

Hello all, I have browsed the forum on many topics over the years. Finally joined and wanted to say hi. Just purchased a Howa M1500 Kryptek in 6.5 Creedmoor as my entry into modern bolt guns. I've only shot beyond 400 with an AR10 so this is all unknown territory hoping to hit 1000 by this summer.

Bought this Tempest action earlier this year. Shot 12 matches with the action, about 9 with the C4 and 6GT barrel. 6GT barrel has ~1100 rounds on it. Shoots great, cleans up real easy. 32.8 of Varget under Berger 109s. After a good cleaning it prints one hole after the 2nd shot. Spray painted black but is starting to flake, I can clean the spray paint off back to stainless if you want.

6.5C barrel has I think 1300 on it, came with the action. Don't know much about it (make, round count) other than she FUCKS. Took a load I had developed for my last rifle, laid down on the dirt and shot a tight ragged hole with no load development with it using 140 ELDMs.

Rifle comes as shown minus the scope, spuhr, and bipod. Will include the ARCA mount for a B&T bipod and the ACE brake.

Has two internal weights, two external.
