Firearms LRI Remington 700 in 6.5cm 1900 shipped or trade. PRICE DROP

Had LRI build this a few years back. Mounted a Zeiss 6-36 on it, did some load development on it, then never shot it again. The barrel's a 24" stainless cut rifled K&P in the standard Remington 700 Varmint contour with I believe a 1:7.5 twist, and the actions a stainless 700 SA. They blueprinted the action, timed the bolt handle, installed dual ejectors, M16 style extractor, and enlarged the scope base holes to 8-40. The trigger's a single stage Triggertech special set at around 1lbs. It has a steel 20moa base on it along with an Erik Cortina precision bolt shroud. Had the local cerakoter coat the entire gun. I then bought a custom HS Precision stock, and had a reputable smith glass bed it.
While working up a load, I used Alpha brass, federal srp's, Varget and Berger's 140 grain hybrids, it would never shoot over .75" no matter what charge weight went in. The load it liked was 37.3 grains. When I found that, I then moved on to the other guns in my fleet and kind of never came back to it. It has around 250 rnds through the pipe. To shoot this I took it off the wall, put in a hard case, took it to the bench, back in the hard case, and back on the wall and that's how it lived.
Now the possible 'con'; I feel personally, the gun feeds better with the blind magazine box seated tight in the receiver rather than just hangin out, which it does. The smith that bedded it told me this is how they were made, with some play in them. Your mileage may vary. And lastly, when the receiver was being faced to true it up, they took a little more off the receiver than normal, which makes the recoil lug sit about 7 thou further back in the stock than factory, so if you want to switch stocks on this rifle, you'll have to shave a tad off of the rear wall of the receiver pocket to make it fit. Shouldn't be a big deal for someone that screws with guns a lot.

I have 3000 dollars in this rifle. Asking 1900 shipped or, trade for a Kahles or S&B 6-36 scope (with a good reticle for me). (rifle & base only, the scope and rings arent for sale)

Sidearms & Scatterguns German Army chooses CZ P10F Pistol

The German Army has chosen the CZ P10F O.R. to replace their old HK P8/USP pistols. The CZ was chosen over the Glock 17 and the Arex Delta 2.

Apparently no HK, Walther, or Sig pistols, were down selected in testing by the German Army.

Contract is for a minimum of 62,000 pistols, and could go as high as 186,000 pistols.

Good for CZ- the P10 is a great pistol!

Firearms Custom 6x284 for sale

I’m selling a custom built 6x284. Now this gun was handed down to me by my father and it’s a great gun but I don’t know all the exact specs. I will tell you what I do know though. We have a trued Remington 700 SA with a diamond fluted bolt. For barrel I believe it's a 29” J.T.L hand lapped, heavy contour barrel. The end of the barrel is threaded 5/8-24. I had been shooting 75grain Hornady VMax bullets out of it for coyotes and it’s a shooter. That said I recently tried some Berger 109s out of it and they keyholed at 100. So not sure what the twist is but it must be more of a varmit style barrel better suited for those lighter 6mm bullets. Also not sure who J.T.L. is but this gun I believe was built somewhere in North Idaho. Includes a 20MOA rail, Jewell trigger set to about 10-12oz and a nice wood stock (make/model unknown). Included with the gun is my Redding die set, 200 pieces of brand new Peterson 6.5x284 Norma brass. I also have about 244 pieces of fired brass (approx. 163 Lapua, 46 Norma, 35 Super Win) that all should have less than 4-5 firings. Will not include ammo shown in photo for shipping reasons. Looking for $1,750 shipped. Located in SW Montana and can meet with locals who are interested.

Uses for bipod sled vs ski feet?

Current bipod is an Accu-Tac PC-5 with the normal ball-style feet. So far all my bipod shooting is done on a mat on concrete, though in the near future I expect to be doing some shooting off a mat on grassy surfaces.

I think the ball-style feet have small contact patches and leave something to be desired in stability. I've been looking at both sled and ski feet as upgrades.

It seems like the ski feet are more suited, or used more on, bipods on solid, flat surfaces, such as a bench or table top. The sled feet would to me seem more suited to less uniform surfaces where a greater contact patch is desired .

According to Accu-Tac's website, the sled feet are recommended for the PC bipods where as the ski feet are recommended for fixed bipods, bipods geared towards heavier rifles, or wide bipods where the mount is lower (e.g. WB-4).

Are my assessments about correct here? What do you see as the differences in use-case between ski and sled feet and what would be your decision making criteria?

Night Vision Safran TAD

Looks like units will be available by the end of August (which probably means Sept/Oct). What's interesting to me is that this doesn't appear to just be a stripped down E-COTI. Instead, it's got a slightly higher resolution 10 micron core that only operates in Full Thermal / Outline modes (no more Patrol).

Hi from Virginia

I've been living overseas for about five years without much time to shoot aside from a few range days and a chance to hunt some plains game in southern Africa. I'm prior service Army and I've trained with pistols and ARs, but I've never done any kind of distance shooting. I'm back in the States for a bit, and I've been bitten by the bug to get a bolt gun and expand my shooting horizons a bit. I was googling bolt gun options, and I kept seeing threads on this forum so I wanted to join and get some advice.

Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 DLR-3

Just looking for feedback from anyone who has this scope, even if you have the DPRC ret.

It'll be going on a Tikka T3X CTR .308, which currently has a PST GENII 5-25x50 on it, use is for hunting mostly, very occassional target work. Hunting shots range from 50m to 400m max.

Its obviously not designed as a hunting scope but I dont really like moa/sfp or mrad/sfp

How I earned my rank

As first class brisket smoker.

11 pound brisket. Thawed by Thursday evening, I rubbed my meat. I rubbed it really good. Spice Hunter Cowboy

So, Last night, I put in on the Char Griller charcoal grill with side firebox. I had a fire going in the firebox with chopped mesquite wood. Smoked really slow for about 7 hours then set in a cold oven. I had am aluminum pan with water in it in the main chamber.

Knife sharpening for dummies

I have never been especially good at sharpening knives. The only sharpeners I ever use are the pull through ceramic type but I don't think they put the best edge on pocket knives.

What's a simple system that will get your knife 8/10 sharp with minimal skill? I am considering just collecting all my pocket knifes and taking them to a local guy that charges $5 but that's kind of a headache.
