Litton/Northrop MK VII Manual?

IMG20250609181439.jpg

I recently came by a very cheaply priced Northrop Grumman MK VII Eye Safe Laser Range finder. I ended up with it in a rather destitute condition (the inner night vision tube had been broken out from its cam and presumably recycled), although I received with its original wiring setup. I had heard it mentioned in the past that it could be connected via serial and information about the target (az, el, range, optional lat/lon w/ dagr, etc) could be streamed into a computer. I would love to write a driver so that this could still be used with modern tools (eg: ATAK or WinTAK). That being said, after plugging it into an RS232 port and monitoring it with some debugging tools, I couldn't get anything back. I am guessing I do not have everything set up properly, but my unit did not come with a manual.

I know a couple of these have been bought and sold by people here. Does anyone have a PDF of the manual for this system or know where I could find one? Has anyone else tried to interface with these units before?

Subsonic .223 loads

I am interested in a subsonic load for home defense. I have researched the subject and there are a number of opinions. From what I understand, the lighter weight bullets will not cycle and they are single shot only, whereas the heavier bullets have a better chance at normal operation. I have some 77gr SMK and some 85gr Barn Burner bullets. I have a plan to work up, or work down, a load but I think it would involve too many rounds and a lot of time. So, without having to re-invent the wheel, does anyone have a load they have used that cycles the gun properly and remains subsonic? I have a .223 suppressor, and the gun is a 10.5 inch AR pistol. Before I get hate mail and too many other options for gun type and caliber, this is my plan and I would like to see it through. If my testing does not produce a viable round then I will look for alternatives. Thanks for you help.

Best Premium Hunting Scope

Hey everyone. Fresh into the off season for hunting and planning towards next season already. I am wanting to learn all the pros and cons of various premium hunting scopes. Hearing from actual owners vs things i can just google myself. Shots will be 50-350 and going on a Sig Cross with a Straight Jacket Armory competition contour .308 barrel. I am trying to find the best balance that will give me superior low light ability and overall great quality to hold up for years to come. I already have a long range hunting set up with a Tangent Theta 5-25, so that is the reason for the shorter distance of 350. Most of our hunting around here is in pines and hardwoods with the occasional cut over. I am looking for higher end optics like ZCO 4-20, Tangent Theta 3-15, Kahles 328i, S&B, Swaro, etc. I can tell you right off the bat I doubt I will ever own a Vortex, Burris, Bushnell, Etc. So no hard feelings, just my 2cents. Thank You in advance for the positive and helpful responses. Also, It does not have to be a FFP optic. I just know some of the higher quality scopes tend to be FFP. a SFP would actually be most ideal in most scenarios.

new cars

Maybe in 3 weeks 2 choices are due for delivery at their respective dealers . Chevy decided to save a few bucks and not put a paper owners manual in the car you can pdf it or send GM 80.00 for it and it needs to be near my home router to receive/send wellness checks and updates . gonna be a fun 2 hour drive home ......what does this switch do every 10 minutes ....and its loaded with console buttons including an exhaust stealth mode .

S&B 3-18x Meta click adjustment question

Hello, I recently sighted in a Steyr THB 20" .308 with a S&B 3-18x Meta. The rifle was zeroed at 100 yards. I used a mild load to fireform new brass (168 Sierra at 2375). My ballistic calculator listed a drop of 6" at 200 (0.8 mil) and a drop of 20"at 300 (1.8 mil). The S&B only has clicks, no numbers (1 click equals 1cm per 100m). The cm and mil measure very close so I clicked up 7 and the 200 was centered. When I dialed up 18 clicks for 300, I did not hit a 36x36 piece of cardboard. WTF did I do wrong? Thanks.
