Mangy dog

I have killed 8 this year on our 80 acres and 3 of them had mange and looked pretty rough. I put a 20” 204 barrel on my ar and really like it. I use a thermal and judging exact distance is hard. The 204 flat trajectory helps a lot. And the accuracy and low recoil helps a lot too. I had a ba 1:7 18” barrel before. I like the 204 much better and I don’t miss as many now.

The DNT Hydra thermal scope is equipped with a 12μm ≤18mk thermal sensor for ultra clear thermal images and DNT's proprietary Super Resolution image algorithm just made the impossible, possible. This amazing technology now enhances your thermal image to the next level and resolves the biggest issue of thermal losing definition after digitally zooming in.

Range Report First impressions of AB Quantum app

I've just got the AB Quantum app and I have to say I'm impressed generally but I need Kestrel compatibility because of all the custom gun profiles the I've created using the Kestrel 5700 Elite and the Kestrel Link Ballistics app.

Here's what I posted in the optics section about my thoughts on the Sig Kilo 10K, the Sig BDX app, and the AB Quantum app:

Accessories Proof Research CF 20" 308 Impact 737

Like new Proof Research 20" .308 pre-fit carbon fiber barrel for Impact 737 action. I bought this brand new less than a year ago as an extra barrel for a custom build. It has exactly 138 rounds of Federal and Hornady match ammo through it via slow fire benchrest shooting. Barrel was properly broken in per Proof manual. Barrel shot a sub 1" 5-shot group at 300-yards with Federal 168 match. Only selling as I don't need 2 barrels for this rifle (keeping the heavier Bartlein SS for PRS). Looking for $700 shipped. Email direct to [email protected].

.Gov Deferred Resignation

Work at the Forest Circus. Seriously thinking of getting out going into teaching and working part time as a forester. I could make the same or more and actually be home and spend time with my family. Stupid shit was going on under Biden and stupid shit is still going on now. We lost some good people due to Rifs and what not but the same idiots are still around and will be for sometime. Its going to be a while until things are fixed. Not being anti Trump, just burnt out on some of the things I deal with in the FS but would not deal with in the Private sector. Grass isn't always greener. I'm ready to just work on my own, I went through licensing, I have my own equipment, I can write management plans, do tsi, mark timber, NNIS treatments ect on my own with private landowners.

I guess the big question is, if I take the deferred resignation would that screw up any chance of getting another job? I am not sure how to explain that one away during an interview. I'm assuming the right answer is to wait until a new opportunity arrives but I am not sure.

Ballistic calculators disagree with my actual elevation amounts - help please!

Hi all,

I have two rifles chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor (Ruger RPR and Accuracy International AT-X) both with Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 scopes. I shoot at a range with known distances from 100-1200 yards in 100 yard increments.

My rifles are zeroed for 100 yards and I have dope settings for 100, 200, 300 and 600 yards. I've tried a variety of different calculators (Hornady 4DOF, Vortex, several others). They all seem consistent in their come up values which don't match either of my rifles. For instance with the RPR at 600 yards they state around 12.8MOA come up while I have to actually dial 14.5 - a big difference! With the AI, the calculators state 1.35 come up at 200 yards when I actually have to dial -0.25 from my 100 yard zero.

I'm using a Garmin chrono so have accurate MV. I'm using Hornady ELDM 147gr factory ammo so know the bullet weight, am specifying barrel twist, sight height over barrel, temperature etc.

Is there an explanation why the calculators seem so far off vs my two rifles?

I want to shoot at 1000 yards and have no dope for that. How can I use a calculator to determine that? Should I change the bullet G7 BC to accurately match the come up at 600 yards and then use the 1000 yard figure the calculator then suggests?

All gems of experience welcome!

Thanks.
