Remington PSR Full Kit Serial Number Question ECMSR vs MSR

I’m looking for some serial number information on the Remington PSR full kit with .338Lapua, .300WinMag, and .308 Winchester barrels. I have the opportunity to pick the kit up at what I think is a reasonable price. I have two to choose from, though. Both are NIB. One has a serial number of ECMSR000XX and the other has a serial number of MSR00XXX. Does anyone know the significance or history behind the two different serials? The ECMSR has 3 zeros and 2 digits. The MSR has 2 zeros and 3 digits. Is one more collectible than the other? Were the EC’s early units, and the MSR’s later units? Vice versa? Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated. One of those two kits is coming home with me on Thursday.

BnA Tacsport X vs PRO

Looking to get either a Tacsport X or Pro X for my 2 Zermatt Origins (2 stage). My understanding is the 2 main differences are the pull weight range and the polished internals.

Anyone have both and could you tell a difference in the feel between the two from the Pro X having the better honing?

Also, from this Chart it seems that my Origin may need the low sear which I understand is going to cost even more money on top of the original purchase price.
Anyone run a Tacsport with a Zermatt action without issues?

Thanks

Muzzle brake question

Hey guys. I’m building a 7prc. First time building a custom bolt action rifle and first time posting here on snipers hide. Hoping someone can help with a question. I am looking at area 419 muzzle brakes to put on my proof barrel. Area 419 doesn’t make a specific 7mm prc brake, but they are telling me that the 30 cal will fit it and not make any issues with accuracy. Does anyone have experience with this? Or any recommendations to another company that make 7prc specific muzzle brakes?

This will be an elk hunting rifle, but I also do a lot of target shooting at the range. I’ll be shooting it 1000+ yards on the range so I want don’t want to sacrifice accuracy by getting the wrong muzzle brake.

KAHLES K624i - EYEBOX COMPARED TO PRESENT SCOPES

I’ve been using this scope for over a decade.

I originally selected it based on “ease of use” as described by users - the eyebox was described as being rather generous then.

I’m thinking of getting a newer model, but can’t really justify doing so beyond having this itch for a new toy.

How does it stack up compared to the newer models?

Interesting… and raises ethical questions!!

From Wikipedia because the news sources are sketchy:

“In April 2025, it was announced that Colossal Biosciences used cloning and gene-editing to birth three genetically modified wolf pups, six-month-old males Romulus and Remus and two-month-old female Khaleesi. In-house scientists at Colossal analyzed the dire wolf genome, extracted from two ancient samples – a 13,000-year-old tooth and a 72,000-year-old ear bone. After comparing the genomes of gray wolves and dire wolves to identify the genetic differences responsible for the dire wolf’s distinctive features, Colossal made edits to the genetic code of the gray wolf to replicate those traits. Domestic dogs were used as surrogate mothers for the pups.[115][116][117] Colossal claims that these minor genetic modifications effectively revive dire wolves as a species, though "no ancient dire wolf DNA was actually spliced into the gray wolf's genome".[115]
Overall, the work was less invasive than the typical cloning process. EPC cells were first isolated from gray wolf blood samples before scientists rewrote 14 key genes in the cell’s nucleus to express 20 traits claimed to represent the dire wolf phenotype. Colossal scientists produced 45 engineered ova, which developed into embryos and inserted into the wombs of two surrogate hound mixes. One embryo in each surrogate mother took hold, and Romulus and Remus were born in October 2024 after 65 days of gestation. The scheduled cesarean section procedure was repeated with a third surrogate, who birthed Khaleesi.“

The gist is that an extinct species of wolf has been brought back… sort of. The Dire Wolf died out about 10,000 years ago.

Biogenetics firm has edited Gray Wolf DNA to supposedly match it to the Dire wolf and three pups have been born.

Jurassic Park stuff right here.

The science is interesting. But the ethical questions… well, read (don’t watch) Jurassic Park and realize that it’s also an ethical Pandora’s box.

Is this a great thing? We could bring back the passenger pigeon… the Mammoth and the sabertooth tiger! Even the Moa… for those who can’t figure out mils.

But should we? Do we need to replace the things we killed off before we were so enlightened and hunted them to extinction? Or did nature select them out for reasons other than Ug and Zog inventing the atlatl…

When do we start with the genetically edited human babies? Designer blonde blue-eyed Einstein’s…. Replicants with excellent “Tears in the rain” monologues? Or grown as sex slaves (because sex and porn are always the killer app/driver for new technology… really)

Personally, I’d love to adopt a sabertooth tiger! Can we order them soon?

No answers… just more questions than I can even think up. Just the sort of thing for the Pit to examine in our normal, rational and generally hilarious way.

Carry on!!!

300 PRC Powder / Bullet combinations for 20in short barrel

New to the 300 PRC and looking for some input on powder / bullet combinations.

First of all, got a 20in short barrel. Purpose is mostly hunting. I was planning on using N570, keep it simple - have that here for the 375 cheytac anyway. Will be shot supressed.

My thought process so far is to go with bullets on the heavier side, ordered some 220gr ELDX for the slower burn rate of the powder. Have some 178gr ELDX here but not sure I even want to bother developing a load for those.

Maybe someone here has experience with a short barrel or even with 20in and N570 that you are willing to share? Thanks in advance!

77, 75, 69 vs 62 gr 5.56 choices?

Well, I was gonna load 62gr gold dots as a defense round and thier cheaper since I can get 55gr bulk ammo and both shoot poi closely.
But I'm no wondering if some of the 69 75 or 77 gr surplus stuff would be better suited for both uses?
Can anyone chime in on the performance of the higher gr bulk/surplus ammo.
Not sure if this was right forum, but it does regard reloading so...
