Just imagine how much lower the average GPA would be.........

A few months later, in May, North Avenue announced students would not be held back for failing classes. This most recent GPA data could indicate why City Schools made that decision.
That's ok... Everybody still gets a diploma. Equal outcomes.

if they actually had math, science, and real history classes. Can you have a negative GPA? I'm sure they just need to throw more money at it and that will fix it.

I'd be willing to bet that the grades wouldn't go down.

Everything, and I mean everything is graded on a curve so the dumb and lazy still get better than passing grades.

Nowadays, failing isn't called failure, they call it being held back.

Like you automatically move on to the next higher grade unless the teachers hold you back.

The only one holding a kid back is him/herself.

I realize most teachers aren't actually teaching.
So I won't try and debate that because it would be people arguing over something that they agree upon.

That has nothing to do with Baltimore schools, but this is one aspect of black culture I definitely admire.

It doesn’t matter how much street cred someone has. They can be top dog on the block or in the yard, but when mommas around they know to tuck their tail between their legs.

Just like the English Landed Gentry did to the Irish for 800 years. Keep them dumb and on the farm. One of my ancestral branches bought 640 acres of farm land in the USA for the same price of Land Rent that was paid each and every year to the Lord.

Authors have been writing books about the "Dumbing Down" for over 20 years.....
Some of those vintage books are selling for over $200.... The books have proven to be correct.

One example:

Common core is paying off for the democrats.

Why would anyone choose to stay in a dump like this where the GPA for the top half of the class is 0.13?!?! I guess dumb wants to stay dumb. If I was living there, I would save up every cent and get the hell out ASAP. This is a great big country, full of opportunity everywhere. I don't buy the "you are locked in a particular geography" excuse.

Baltimore, Chicago, St Louis, Bridgeport CT, LA, etc. -- Just leave people, go to better place, some many of your problems will be solved, without massive, expensive and fruitless government-driven bailout programs.

Someone posted an interview of Bill Rapier (he was DEVGRU at one time). Any way his parent were missionaries and they went to Germany when he was 5. He was sent to public school there. At age 12 when he returned to the states he went to a private school. They tested him and he was bumped up a grade. School was so easy for him, that he actually lost interest and fell behind. His parent then took him to Africa, Eswantini, where he was tested and held back a grade because he wasn't up to speed. This Shows me the US school system sucks compared to Africa and he was in a private school here in the states.

But, I guess that just one experience.

Based on my experience judging from my freshmen classes...HS education breaks down approximately as follows:

Asia > N. America = Europe = S. America > Middle East > Africa

when it comes to motivation and effort put into classes:

Asia > Africa > N. America > Europe = S. America > Middle East

when it comes to Asian countries, the stereotypes are 100% true....most of those kids are sharp and very motivated.

my experience with African countries, which admittedly is not a ton of kids, but they are clearly struggling initially, but they work their asses off....they seem to really value the opportunities they are given.

N. American, European ,and S. American kids are all honestly on par with each other, and kind of a mixed bag....the one thing they all have in common is kids from inner city schools all suffer....doesnt matter what country they are from.

Kids from the Middle East seem to not really want to be in school...the only time they really seem to be interested in their education is when they are failing and at risk of losing their Scholarships/ Visa.

My understanding is that many of the middle eastern countries will pay for their schooling, so long as they go into certain fields (usually engineering)....and a lot of these kids could care less...

regardless of country, Home schooled kids seem to perform much better overall.

Random tossing BGE into it, though yes it’s a shithole through and through

+Thug culture and a parent that couldn't care less.
Yeah. But some decent kids get drug down by it because the teachers get so jaded and or all their energy goes to discipline the thugs and trying to get the retards to be able to pass the tests.

voucher schools are the way to go.

And, it's not all in the inner cities. Our granddaughter lives in pretty upscale neighborhood. Father is a Master Sergeant in Cyber Defense, Mother a COO of a small ($200M or so) company. No school for her last fall, and the "home study" tasks were simply ridiculous. Begrudgingly, teachers resumed school in January, and then in 2 week, took off a week for a parent-teacher conference. On what? They hadn't seen the kids for months. Taught for 6 weeks or so, then took off 10 days for spring break. After not teaching for months, they need a break?

The teacher's unions are simply not interested in educating children, although certainly some individual teachers are.

The paren't revolt against school boards who enable bad policies are encouraging though.

It’s all government. They are incompetent / lazy at everything. The only decent things come from the private contractors.

the only thing government excels at is growing itself, providing graft and corruption for the politicians and hiring more mouth breathers for .gov “jobs”

So he’s a real keyboard commando? 😮

“This is my mouse. There are many like it, but this one is mine.”
He can't talk much about what he does, for obvious reasons, but he did say that the pipeline hack could have been prevented had they simply updated their security software against a vulnerability that had been known for a couple of years.

And that it may sound all "secret squirrel" to civilians, but it's just watching code for intrusion attempts.
