Why shut the government down, let's shut it off. It's grown way past what it was intended to do. I'm no historian but I seem to remember the federal government having essentially two mandates originally, national defense and was it interstate/colony commerce?

Now they tax us 35% of what we make in a year blow it on dumb shit then get paid even when it's shut down and they aren't working.

Seriously? What do we 'need' it for? Decentralize the military, all bases and barracks now fall under the authority of the state in which they reside. Fosters competition between states and branches and they'll get better at killing bad guys than they already are.

I'll take my 35% and be responsible for my own housing, healthcare, and retirement. So those government organizations can pound sand too.

Don't need TSA because if somebody acts up on a plane I promise you some good old boy would be packing. So ATF/TSA can go bye bye. If Texas and Arizona want to utilize their new assets for border security that's their decision.

If Hollywood elites and yuppies want to spend their money on homeless addicts and criminal border jumpers so be it.

Everybodys all concerned about the shut down!!! My life hasn't changed a beat, has yours?

Dude I am totally on board with that idea, no pun intended. I would trust my life and safety to a concealed carrier like myself aboard an airplane ANY DAY to the state-funded groping we are subject to when we fly. Just have the rudimentary bomb-scanning stuff to continue running. We don't need to deal with that shit. But if a person is shown to be morally upright and fit to carry a firearm in daily life, why shouldn't he be allowed to do so on a plane too?

We just got to get ammo mfg's on board to design a specific type of round for all major defensive calibers that is powerful enough to penetrate/expand inside a bad guy but not enough to compromise any structure of an aircraft's frame, including the windows.

You aren't bringing a plane down with a pistol anyway, worst case is depressurizing the cabin. It's not going to be people getting sucked out windows or huge chunks of the fuselage tearing away like in the movies.

Depressurization would still suck for people with respiratory issues or other chronic illnesses, wouldn't it? Any medical experts care to chip in their 2 cents?

35%..bah, go be poor somewhere else. I'm giving more than half what I make to one government entity or another, that used to be called slavery.

We live...in the greatest Nation in the World.... nuff said.... This shut down is necessary, just feel for all the families that are effected and are in limbo. Stop using them as political pawns......

They would just lower altitude to equalize it, they'd be landing anyway based on whatever events that brought on a shooting in the cabin. Bigger issues if that's going on than somebody's asthma.

That is true. Imagine the scrutiny and investigation that will follow if lethal force had to be deployed to resolve an issue aboard a plane. Even in cases where nutjobs tried to wrench open emergency hatches in midflight, you cannot draw a pistol. Attempted hijacking, probably.

I thought I saw a paper on the subject that the pressurization system can handle a few 9mm holes. Beings that the plane skin is about like 4 layers of aluminum foil getting bullet to NOT put a hole in it would be a tough call. It isn't like you are in a AR500 tube, let alone even mild steal.
These kind of debates are what is wrong with society now. If a POS needs to be shot on a plane then at that point it is mostly about saving people on the ground. People on the plane are some what expendable.
Of course I want the casualties to be as low as possible but I also want the threat dealt with.

Maybe I could buy "most tolerable of the shitty choices" but in my opinion any nation that takes half or better off it's working citizens pay by force should be nuked off the face of the earth. Unfortunately the earth wouldn't exist if we went with my opinion though.

    Hi,

I am not sure how the shut down is effecting anyone....shit it has done nothing but help me.

What normally takes the DDTC and BATFE 3 weeks to audit/inspect my company and its' books has now all the sudden only taken them 4 days. Shit they even worked weekend before Christmas.

What we need is more shut down of BS aka non-critical entities, agencies, and personnel so that the critical entities, agencies and personnel are not bogged down dealing with nonessential "honey do" list.

    Sincerely,
    Theis

Personally, tight quarters like that with lots of innocents around.. I'd be more inclined to use a 6-10" pig sticker.

Please stop with the dumb shit you see on TV/your imagination. Those who've told you a few pistol bullet holes aren't going to bring the plane down/kill everyone instantly are right.

Do you not pay attention during the preflight safety briefing? What the fuck do you think this is for?

Like they say in shop class, if you don't fuck up, you ain't trying. So shrug your shoulders and keep on truckin'.

Wait, you mean they DID shut down the government?
    Hell, I didn’t even notice.

    Hi,

I know right.....asking employees of Dept of State, Dept of Commerce, Dept of Treasury, IRS, and Dept of Justice to press their own elevator button; check their own mail, park their own cars, and empty their own trash is borderline draconian measures. Talk about third world working conditions...

    Sincerely,

6 layers? My point is/was that the skin is not nor never will stop a bullet that can incapacitate a human. Relax just a tiny tiny bit.
Edit: 3mm is average fuselage skin on commercial airliner. 3mm of aluminum isn't stopping anything of any significants.

Besides, it is not like they will allow us civvies to carry guns on planes anytime soon LOL.

What we are doing is just talking shit, like we do in bars and gyms. And a lot of times we learn a lot from participating in shit talk :)

As for the TSA discussion above, my wife and I had an interesting alternative to getting rid of TSA. Have three different levels of security for airlines.

    1. This airline would not search baggage or passengers. Bring along a gun if you want.
    2. This airline would use Israeli type security. They would shamelessly profile people and search only those they think needed to be
searched. No guns or weapons allowed, and baggage would be screened according to the Israeli model of airline security.
    3. This airline would use the current TSA model for screening people and baggage. A tax would be placed on anyone wanting to have
and pay for this level of security. There would be no other government funding for TSA as only the people who want this level of
security would pay for it out of their own pockets.

Allow passengers and the traveling public to choose and pay for the airline on which they want to travel. The general public that doesn't fly would no longer have to pay to support TSA, and those that do fly could choose to fund TSA if they wish. I'll bet that option #2 would be most popular.

As shown by the recent mishap where a window actually blew out mid flight and the only person killed was the unlucky woman in the actual window seat that got halfway sucked out (probably a loose seat belt or not wearing one).

And remember that the window was broken by a piece of the engine that grenaded itself. Most likely a fan or turbine blade and those are a) a lot bigger than bullets and b) hard as fuck (titanium or inconel)

    As far as affecting people.....
I know of individuals who have sold their commodities and need to make deposits and pay on loans. However they can't because the checks need to be signed and released by FSA. No one is their to sign and release the checks. It has the potential to royally screw with their tax planning. Not to mention the extra interest, penalties for being late on payment, etc.
With that being said I fully support what we are having to do. It is the sacrifice for many years and past administrations neglect to make America first.

If you have ever seen the valve that controls cabin pressure you would not worry about pistol caliber holes in the aircraft exterior. The pressurization system is more than adequate to handle the resulting pressure differential.

Very true. Outflow valves are about the size of a small window on the aircraft.
The windows are structural, but the likelihood of the entire window coming out because of a bullet are slim.
I say shoot the shit out of a hijacker and worry about the details later.
