46.5 Billion For Border Wall In BBB

a wall? well OK maybe. but put the army on the border with all the things mentioned. choppers, tanks, snipers, mines,MGs,fixed wing back up. with orders to shoot to kill of ANY attempted crossing. extend a free fire zone a long distance into MEX territory.
word in some places is that human and drug trafficking continues thru corruption at allowed crossings. don't know. easy fix. have the army force the take down of any individual vehicle trying to cross. any attempts to smuggle, shoot on the spot. same goes for any corrupt border guard.
won't happen of course but army should be used to the same effect inside the country. we are at war and have been invaded.

Only problem with that is the tens of thousands of people that cross legally into each country daily, U.S. and Mexico, because of all the businesses that were chased into the maquiladora zone by the unions and poor DC policy. Car companies, HVAC, electronics and other labor intensive manufacturing.

yes a problem and a good point. i am obviously not smart enough to raise a solution. i do know that the illegal invader issue must be solved if we are to survive as a society. like Trump's tariffs which i support there will be pain. a balanced budget would cause pain. dismantling the deep state and bringing the army home, not so much. we are in a bad place and any fix is going to be very painful. i don't see survivability possible being big time pain free.

If you stop putting out free cheese the rats stop coming...

Follow the money trail.

Cut off All financial assistance and access to any benefits of any kind for folks here illegally.
Cut off ALL funds transfers out of the country unless the person is a legitimate Citizen or permanent resident and pays their taxes fully.
Cut off ALL funds to any "refugee" groups or "aid groups"
Charge Mexico (just take it out of any legit transfers or state owned funds) for every benefit or service or payment made to any Mexican Citizen or citizen of another country they allowed to travel through Mexico into our country.

You'd see how fast the problem starts to go away on it's own.

I see this expenditure as insane!

We can secure the border way cheaper, than this price tag. Deploy land mines, and authorize lethal force against border jumpers.

You think we need a border wall?
The southern border is 1,954 miles long. If you convert that to having one person stationed every 500 yards you will need almost 6,900 people on the line at all times.

Then you have at least 3 shifts per day, plus extra for vacation and sick leave. I would safely say it would be at least 25 to 30 thousand people, plus food, housing, guns, and ammo, plus all of the other expenses like fuel, vehicles...

Too convoluted.

Just stop hiring them and they won’t come, America!

Google’s AI gives a really nice summary to the question “how does Japan deal with the Yakuza.”

I would like to add prison time and monstrous fines for Americans hiring and “aiding and abetting” illegals (or, simply enforce these laws if they already exist - odds are, they already do).

Americans would man the wall for free, one week a year, for the vacation and trigger time.

long border. that is why one has sensors, radar, over watch, roving patrols. compare to the cost of keeping 100s of bases staffed in 30 (?) other countries that we have no biz being in? we have an army. DEFENDING America is its job not garrisoning 1/2 the planet in places we have no biz and should have no interest.
and correct that you could easily get many 1000s of volunteers for a border watch "summer camp". some experience in a free fire zone would discourage a lot of traffic.

30? Bwaaaahahaha. Not even close.
How about we shut down the 400+ alphabet agencies and send all the people working in them to the unemployment line. There'd be enough money from that to build four walls.

yea. i heard 80 countries some where else. 80? WTF? get the army going right, shut down alphabets, shut off welfare payments of all kind, shut off ALL foreign aid of any kind, stop all "grants",force a balanced budget? oh yea, might even be able to reduced the debt a tiny bit.

Border Security should be a money generating exercise . Just hear me out .
Run it like either PRS or Tactical Games run and gun.
Targets at unknown distances.
Extra points for first round hits and DRT . Movers. Charge a fee . Bring your own gear . Rules just like any other comp..
See how fast a foreign threat decides note to risk the Desert Temp Challenge . Same as the Room Temp Challenge but well out in the desert 🏜️.
Oh yeah , gotta have a prize table .

Skynet. Gotta start somewhere, let's just fucking start here.

you are a sick man. i love it.
Money on the wall is well spent. The army couldn't guard the border for 5 years for 50 billion dollars.
a wall is about 25% useful and 75% symbolic. any wall would have to be monitored and patrolled and rapid response be needed for response to any infringement. no passive barrier has ever succeeded with no human protection. the great wall and Mongols a good example. any barrier can be gone over, under or around thru eventually. depends on the motivation and skill of those wanting in. mine fields would help but those can be overcome. they have been frequently in the past. the whole wall issue doesn't address the coast line at all. see what DEA has gone thru just in FL and LA. border protection is never going to be a simple build a wall and feel secure. a wall is only a small part of nat'l defense and the least effective at that. there needs to be the goal of defense and a coordinated effort. navy, border patrol, coast guard, air force all have a role.
my point is that our military should have zero role in defending any place other than USA. many things follow from that being its 1 and only job. having troops in Finland,Syria,Germany or anywhere else outside west hemisphere is just wasting money and maybe lives and adds nothing to our national interest.

not worth an argument. but a wall needs human support and these days electronic support and monitoring. management requires more than police type support or a whole bunch more than there is now. can't build a wall on the beach or mangrove swamps very well. at the price i see and the wall i have seen in pics looks way more than needed with proper human involvement. would say that the symbolic affect is well worthwhile but again not at the extravagant level shown on line. kinda like a lock-keeps honest people honest. need alarms, guard dog, alert responders.
my understanding of 10/7 is that there was a high grade wall and the human part was stood down because of a holiday or more likely IDF collusion and planned slow response. the wall was all there was initially.
apologies nat'l def,a wall, foreign bases get me way OT on the subject. the 1 tril $ DOD budget is retarded, unnecessary, loaded with pork. we could build any wall you wanted for less than the cost of 1 of those floating targets we call a carrier battle group.

Democrats want a wall just as much as republicants and conservatives.
Current law says that anyone coming through a legal entry point has rights. A wall forces the traffic to a legal entry point to apply for asylum or whatever. The immigration courts are backed up for years. Those that cross in other places can be deported for illegal entry.
Now you know
