Emotional roller coaster: 6 powder droppers in < 3 years!

H1000 overthrows like a banshee for me

But it’s no match for H50BMG or n570. >25% overages completely unacceptable
With N570 I run the shims and tip with good luck. I usually leave the sliders in the middle but sometimes I bump them up and can run faster.

The emptying is kind of a learning curve but I rarely spill powder any more.

I don’t get any overages but I also let it take its time at the end and have it set so that it backs off the speed well before the set weight. I don’t mind this so much because I charge at the same time I seat a bullet so between lubing the bullet and pressing it I get a perfectly adequate cycle time.

I need to get the tip, but this thing was to get me through to the IP only, and you know that saga, but I was disinclined to tinker only to receive teh IP system shortly after I got it dialed.

At this point I feel like a fool for not dialing the V4 immediately, I have wasted soooooo much time waiting on the IP using inferior systems I don't want to tinker with

I hope the info I sent you will help you dial in the V4 faster.

Idk if it's ever coming out lol but I can say tuning the v4 I loaded 180 rounds n568 87 grains took 1 hour 30 min to be done loading.

I'm trying to avoid disconnecting the wires. I'll figure it out. Thanks for the suggestions! This ATV4 is better than I gave it credit for the first time around. And I know MKM Tyler, he will hook me up.
There is no need to disconnect the wires, just like there is no need for shims/tips or other such nonsense... But that's just my opinion from using my V4 since 2022. .02 is generally one kernel of many powders and .04 is generally about 2, maybe 3 kernels. Well within my tolerance. A world more accurate than my Chargemaster 1500.

I'm sure it's possible to do it without removing the wires but seems like it would be more difficult.
one Kernel of N570 is .08gr, I think N560 is .04 so there's that.

It isn't really. I don't use the big bulky powders which is why I said many powders. Remove the hopper and place behind the rear window. Tip the V4 over the hopper and open the window. Give it a shake to empty the tubes and you are good to go. No need at all to disconnect the wire.

I'll try it next time. How ever disconnecting the wires is a non issue for me

I dont disagree with you. It seems like RCBS is peddling a lot of their stuff to "influencers" lately.

I did watch another video of his though where he was using two chargemasters to load his prs ammo now. He claimed it was faster and there wasn't enough difference in sd to warrant waiting on the super trickler.

I watched a speedy Gonzalez video a while back where he was touring the loading area at a br match. I was surprised at how many chargemasters were in use with that crowd.

I'd love to have a high dollar trickler setup but the volume I load for I just can't justify it. That money for me is better spent on components.
I know a benchrest shooter and he puts a chargemaster in a cardboard box at the range and does load development. He shoots very small groups.

I was watching a video from speedy Gonzalez at a br match and there were several chargemasters there.

Mine did good when it did good. Had good sd and shot good groups with it. I just got tired of the wandering scale and the overthrows every other charge. In speedys video he mentioned running it off a dc power pack kept the scale from creeping. Never got to try it with mine.

I ended up cutting the neck off a 7-08 case and putting it over the tube on the dispenser. Kind of like the straw mod. Made one from a 243 case also. It helped with overthrows a lot.

In the end my dispenser wigged out and would only run full blast. Still have the scale though.

Man I totally get this thread. Had a charge master light, "upgraded" to a v3. Sold it because I hated feeling like I was going to rip the wires out ever time I emptied it.

Got a super trickler. Used it a handful of times then took an extended break from reloading.

Just getting ready to make some ammo this evening and I really don't have the energy to plug this thing in and screw with it.

Love my a&d but I'm thinking about selling the super, throwing onto the a&d then buying a hand trickler just so I don't have to fuck with another screen after a long day at work.

Waited on ATV4, sold 2 RCBS chargemasters in 2022

Got ATV4 Spring 2022. Wait! I need a shim? It sits precariously atop the stock scale cover which was not made for weight atop it? the motors bind up over 90 degrees? F-this I'm selling and it (at a small loss) and getting this awesome supertrickler that's coming out!

SuperSpiller comes out. I become a beta-tester with a guy named AH. We test HUNDREDS of software iterations. There is no software fix for that stupid vibratory tube and its temperature sensitivity. I sell it, in anticipation of the Ingenuity Precision in FALL 2023.

The IP is delayed for YEARS! AH sells me an ATV2 (with V3 software) to get me by, 6 months AFTER the advertised IP release (summer 2024). What a primitive POS! I struggle along, awaiting the IP. I polish the trickler tube, I change the belts, I superglue loose parts....But it's never quite right, and the IP never comes....It's now early March, 2024....

So I buy ANOTHER V4, which I received today. Easy to set up. good instructions. Still sits atop like a house of cards. But an elegant machine with great software, and easy peasy bluetooth, and an intuitive App!

After all this frustration for almost 3 years, it is like ECSTASY dumping charges. It just WORKS! l'm in HEAVEN!!! (I fed it AR-COMP, easy test, no fat stick powders like H50BMG, RL50, or n570, to kill this buzz!)

But now I've dumped 100 charges, and I have to empty this fucking thing. Wait, what? OK, take off the hopper. Now what? unplug the fucking wire? WHAT? Shake it like a shank-n-bake chicken? What about these windows? These stupid fucking "windows" on the front and the rear? Oh my fuck, now there is powder all over every-fucking-where and I remember why I sold this POS almost 3 years ago!

But, TBH, this is the one I will keep. Maybe even after IP full system comes out...get another scale, run two of them for different powder morphologies....?

You are making me glad I stuck with my RCBS powder dropper I got 44 years ago and mounted it above my FX120i scale that has a Ingenuity Trickler powered by a V3 brain to top off the dropped charge. All I have to do is pull the handle.

I wish people would stop promising things they can’t deliver. If the match master is where we still are after all these years of fucking around with supposedly superior devices, then so be it. I shouldn’t have sold my two match Masters, anticipating the V4, which I then replaced with the super trickle, which I then replaced with a V2, which I then replaced with a V forwhich I now don’t enjoy using, so I keep waiting for the IP and tempted to buy the precision printed…

That's actually all I would need, or want right there.

I built myself one of the little two speed vibratory powder tricklers and I thought that was a major leap forward.

I just can't help but wonder how fast I could go with this exact setup but substitute the v3 brain for my human brain and fingers. I haven't even owned a hand trickler in years now but not screwing with gizmos would give me a big headstart on time.

I used a hand trickler before I figured out I could use an Ingenuity trickler and V3 brains in my Fx120 and for sure, this set up is much faster than my hand trickling. It just doesn’t auto drop, but the cost to get it to do that, whenever it actually comes out, is not worth it to me. If I was competing, maybe it would be.
