My AXSR 37 XC barrel is finally up and running after a 2 year wait.. almost 1 year waiting on the Bartlein modBB blank, shipped 2 blanks halfway across the country only to have them sit at a smiths for a year, ended up having them shipped back to me.. $150 wasted in shipping cost 😡…..

Than hand delivered my blank to Greg at SPR aka Bugholes along with my JGS custom 37XC CEB reamer. SPR crew knocked this barrel out of the park. 4 week turn around time.. Huge shout out to Greg/Russ @ Bugholes..

First time firing a new barrel. I didn't see any grooves in the bullet when I cycled them before firing.

But great suggestions, TY.

All my AI 30 cal barrels HATE Hornady bullets. I was popping primers at 2550 fps with 308 178 BTHP rounds. I even pulled down FGMM 175 rounds which shot at 2700 just fine and put the 178 in making sure to not touch the lands. It was still overpressure by a massive amount.

I have no idea why, but it is consistent across guns, barrels from both Bartlein and LW, and across OAL variances, charges, and case type.

The ONLY thing it could be is the bullet. I have seen this in 30-06 with Hornady 208s as well.

Your experience with the 308 cartridge is something that I also experienced but forgot about. I used those 178 BTHP rounds when I got my 308 barrel for the AXMC. It was a couple of years ago, but I remember the same thing happened. I never used that cartridge again.

I am going to check 20 other randomly selected rounds from this case to see if it was isolated to this box. The Bergers should show up in a week or so.

How are you enjoying that maztech (2k or 15k?)? I am on the fence between getting a Tango or Maztech 2k. I am not sure I am ready to drop another 5k+ on the 15k just yet.

Was my first weekend out with it (15k) and it exceeded my expectations. Zeroing super fast. Ranging was instant out to 750.

The only glaring miss, which I knew going in, is the cord and remote. The cord needs a 90 degree connector out of the unit for those of us with larger turrets.

Buddy of mine got the 2k and FWIW he's a bit disappointed with the speed of the unit.

Thanks for the feedback. From what I've seen the 15k looks like an absolute beast. I can't justify the 15k at the moment given that I am an east coast shooter with 600 yards to play with unless I travel for a match. Even at a match that's going to be ~1200-1400 yards max. I'll probably go Tango, seems to be better than the Maztech 2k, for ~1800 yards and in, at least from a speed perspective.

Can't argue with that logic either, highly probable you'll be very happy with the tango.
