Since you are staying in The Colony, you might go to Riflegear on the southbound side of the Rayburn (SH 121) Tollway.I have to fly into Dallas TX today, staying in The Colony. Be there til Sunday night. Then back the following Thursday-sun.
I’ll have my wife and 2 young kids. One is getting surgery while down here.
What’s cool to do or go see? I can’t sit around and do jack shit all day.
Isnt the Big Tex tha one that gives you the 5 lb steak for free if you eat it all in 30 min or so?If you want to venture a bit west…
Cadillac Ranch and the Big Texan Steak House are both epic!!!

Make sure to wear an Eagles jersey.I guess if you're really bored, you could go watch the Cowboys..............
this very weekend. Very nice track, we attended there a few years back and really enjoyed ourselves
Yes.Isnt the Big Tex tha one that gives you the 5 lb steak for free if you eat it all in 30 min or so?
You underestimate the size of Texas. That’s in Amarillo, a solid 5+ hr one way drive. If you want to venture a bit west…

First time I went there was mid 90s, had to call ahead to reserve a baked potatoe.Ranchman's Ponder Steakhouse in Ponder, Texas (north of Dallas.) BYOB. Call ahead to reserve your baked potato. Not kidding. Also, see the pics of celebrities on the wall who have made a special trip to this restaurant when they are in the area.

No it’s not, it’s still 5.5 hoursClose by Texas standards…. ;-). Yeah, he’d be better off at the sporting goods store!

I took my kids to the aquarium when they were younger, they loved it. They have an indoor tropical rainforest. You can for three stories up into it. Giant crocs on the bottom, and exotic birds in the canopy. I also recommend this. Its a little bit of a hump from the colony but in Downtown Dallas is the Dallas World Aquarium. Fun place for everyone. Additionally if you want to venture west the Fort Worth Zoo is truly world class.
back when the stadium was first built (15 years ago?) we were building a new datacenter nearby and we got a tour (as a perk i assume).I guess if you're really bored, you could go watch the Cowboys..............
If it hasn't been said - the sixth floor library museum is a must, for historical reasons.Wow thanks for all the replies. Coordinating stuff can be a PITA because twice a day I have to take him (2.5 yr old) into a hyperbaric chamber. Kid is doing well. It was a planned surgery, and we will be back in 6 months doing the exact same thing to finish the issue once this initial surgery is all healed.
First thing, my wife and I were amazed at how polite everyone here is compared to back in IL.
We went to Hard Eights for lunch, then again for dinner. Place is superb. Quick, and delicious. Easy to do with kids…
Rifle gear is badass. I have an FFL and SOT back home and I’m tempted to have these guys ship me some shit. Lot of cool stuff, lot of NFA stuff…I’m going to go back there tomorrow and fondle some stuff, since the kids were kinda nuts yesterday and I got outta there.
Plan is to do the Dallas Aquariim this afternoon. Scheels and legacy West tomorrow.
Then the following week who knows. Probably going to hit the zoo cause the kids love animals.
Grapevine has just not been the same since Germandeli.com went out of business there.Grapevine is the "Christmas Capital of Texas".
It's a bit early for Christmas but there are kid friendly things to do and restaurants and shops all packed in a fairly dense location.
Why would you be so presumptive to make the assumption he does not....such a nice comment to make from behind your screen.Give any consideration to sitting at your child’s bedside, through this serious event?
He makes a point of it. Wants something to do rather than sit there “doing nothing”.Why would you be so presumptive to make the assumption he does not....such a nice comment to make from behind your screen.
I get it. No offense taken. Done plenty of that. Truth is, I could hack a leg off this kid and he’s still a million miles an hour. He doesn’t want to sit around either…and sitting around doing nothing has its time and place for sure. 2 hrs twice a day in a hyperbaric chamber and both of us are ready to get out and see the city.He makes a point of it.
