Agreed. Even the elite sand wasn’t bad on the ATX.I’m a sage green guy on AX and AT’s, but something has always looked off on sage green AT-X/C’s. Not sure if it’s the black grip and/or the black action with the sage green or if the color itself is off…like too minty.
I think the best color on those models is instead DE.
I think the green looks best on the AW/AT style. I like DE the best on the AX/AXMC. The ATX I view as more of a comp gun and think the custom cerakote jobs fit best on those or ES from factory.
Must just be a classic look thing for me. Because that dark green doesn’t look right on almost any of them except the thumbholes. Likewise I don’t care for the custom brighter jobs on the AW/AT thumbhole rifles. Green/DE/black or camo for me on those

For some reason, the monochromatic AX looks awesome to me.
Can’t quite put my finger on why a kinda similar color schemed thumbhole AT looks great and the AT-XC does not. Even imagining that the AT-XC green = AT (or AX) green, there’s just something off with the black/green mix of the AT-XC.
However, non-thumbhole AT’s look like shit. Personal opinion. That black backstrap on the grip plus the clubfoot buttstock just kills it for me.
Ignoring the minty green color cast of the photo, the green AT-XC green/tan scheme looks worse, comparatively, to the DE. No idea why.
On a metal chassis, I still think the AX monochromatic scheme looks better for both colors.
I'll be the odd man out and make my proclamation that I like the sage green on the AT-XC, I dig it.
Me too. I very well may end up with one in a year or two once I wrap up some other projects.
Turns out Preferred Barrels are pretty good - got a 20” 6mm Creed M24 profile in about 4 months from ordering. I’m able to push 109 LRHTs at 2935fps with N555 - holding about 0.65 MOA over 20 shots on the finalized load.
They were polite and added the 3% cc fee to msrp so you don’t have to worry about it.

McMaster-Carr has shit tons of 5/16x24 threaded knobs so if you just want bigger without the weight I’m sure they have something that would work. The factory bolt knob is around 1” diameter for reference.
I got the 1-3/8” brass ball knob and it’s a fuckin chonk. I wanted something large and preposterous and this is definitely that… but it makes bolt manipulation hilariously easy.
The front part of the grip seemed to cover up some of the area inside the trigger guard. If you run your trigger blade farther back it may be an issue. I considered sanding it down, but ended up swapping to an MDT.
