Dillon RL1100 vs Mark 7 Apex 10…for brass processing…

I have a Dillon RL550B, Dillon RL650 (with Mr. Bulletfeeder), and a Short Action Customs Nexus (and little Lee classic cast for little odds and ends). Love them all. None of them are going anywhere. Will continue to do bulk reloading on the 650, rifle and pistol.

At this point it’s going to be a machine to process 223 and 300 blackout brass on. I don’t want a CP2000 because it’s not that much less and is limiting. I want something that should I choose to down the road I can load on.

Even though I’m completely out of room at this point, I’m looking at 5 gallon buckets of brass that need to be processed and the though of processing thousands of pieces of brass on my Dillon Super Swager is making me a sad panda. I need a press with on press swaging…

I have no intention of automation, but, we’ve all been around long enough to know how that goes.

I haven’t used either.

I live 2 miles from Dillon.

Read as much as I can. Understand the differences, pros, and cons. As with most things, seems they both have pros and cons.

They are similarly priced.

Just asking to see if those that have used either or both have any compelling reasons to steer me in one direction or the other?

Should I just get the Mark 7 Apex 10 and future proof myself?

Thank you

If you're just processing brass whether 9mm or .223, the 1050/1100 will do you well. I don't see a need for 10 stations when most stations will sit empty.

If you're loading, that's where the extra stations really shine. I have 2 1050's and one is automated. I can't tell you anything in depth about the Mark7 other than I'd sure would appreciate a couple extra stations.

Thanks for the feedback. Everything is kinda pointing me towards the Dillon. I just wanted to entrain the Apex 10 to see if it made sense

I have lots of 1050/1100 tollheads. Changing over to the Lyman would be stupid expensive at this point. And after about 30 yards of loading on the 1050/1100, I know the machines pretty well.

I attached a Mk7 to one of my 1100s and am very happy. I use it to process all my 223, 300 and 308 brass. I also use it to process and FL resize all my handgun brass to make the actual loading that much easier.

as someone who has both…

Dillon is the easy button, WAY more aftermarket, and WAY more information

Apex 10 is still “newish”.. not as much support. I find zero need for 10 stations, especially when you process all brass first (at least i do, makes life infinitely easier)

Way more “used” s1050s/automation available at a good discount (i buy n sell them all the time)

IMHO, support/aftermarket still isn’t there for Apex 10..

if you were discussing going automated, used Revolution would be in discussion, which is what i picked up, for primer bowl feeding (300-400 primers in bowl, its like a large rf100, automatically feeding machine)

I’m leaning towards Dillon. It’s a known quantity. Live down the street. Already have lots of their stuff and am perfectly happy with it.

I said I had no intention of getting a CP2000, but after further thought I’m actually leaning towards a CP2000 just to process the brass on.

I can load plenty fast on my 650 with bullet feeder. I understand it’s more pleasant to load on a 1050/1100 because you don’t have the forward prime stroke, but like I said I don’t see loading on it anytime in the near future.

And if I do decide to load I think I’d still like to have a dedicated brass processing machine?

And if I do decide to load I’ll cross that bridge and see what’s the latest and greatest at that point.

Others have looked at getting the CP2000, but went with the 1050/1100 because of the flexibility. The 1050/1100 will process brass just fine, and you'll still have a machine to load on.

s1050 has a much better indexing system than the 1100/2000 system as well. way more rugged

Most of my processing machines are s1050s because of this reason.. i just remove priming system.. easy

ONLY thing that makes the cp2000 appealing, is dual swage ability.. but with new aftermarket stuff, not really necessary any more

I’m going to run by Dillon in the next couple weeks and play with everything. I think the Apex is out of the running for the time being?

Been on vacation for a month and got out to shoot ALMOST every day. Combined with the fact I’m getting to the bottom of the 10,000 round AR bucket o’ blasting bullets, now I’m looking at all this brass I need to process. It’s been awhile since I’ve had to do a bulk process, and I don’t want to do it the way I did it last time…Dillon Super Swage et all…hence the interest in one of the aforementioned machines. But now it’s back to the salt mines tomorrow. Hoping to pick something up between now and Black Friday. Appreciate the feedback.
