Broken AI AX Chassis

Regrettably the mag catch on my brand new AX Chassis broke.

AI dealers directed me to AI North America. I'm trying to decide if I should wait for a replacement part. AI NA had no information on availability for a replacement part. Those of you who have personal experience with AI-NA on broken replacement PARTS, what has been you experience? Do they come through, or should I pursue another course of action?

I knew there was a danger dealing with an off-shore company for parts and service when I bought the chassis. My luck

By the way, the catch's construction seems a bit cheap. Notice how there is already discoloration? The flat side is similar.

Try this contact information. I am not sure she still there but very helpful when I contacted them about 1.5 year ago.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

Seems atypical of AI's quality, are you sure you didn't get a knockoff?

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

I have had nothing but excellent service and support on any of my AI needs. Mile High Shooting should be able to assist as well.

is "accuracy international north america, inc." an off-shore company?

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

Just talked to AINA about some other business. Thought I'd ask about resolving your problem. Call 540-368-3108 Do not press 1 for English. Press 2 for the service department. They'll take care of you. They have the part on shore.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

John,
Is this a NEW gun? Another .260 or did you get a new caliber. Or, have you been holding out on us? Looks nice.
Did it break in shipping or from use?

It used to be that any and all kit offered to sale to the MoD in the UK had to have a guaranteed parts availability for 25 years, even if the product itself was discontinued or revised versions issued.

You shouldn't have too much trouble getting hold of the parts (unless of course the MoD read your post and sdecide to order several hundred to keep in inventory as a contingency!!)

The only issue I've ever had with AI was having to wait three weeks for a butt pad screw after I stripped the thread on mine...but that was via the UK distributor, not direct from AI.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

Dave I appreciate the suggestion. I did what you said as soon as I saw the problem. I ended up with a gent named Patrick Law in Service. He did not know if they had the part, and I haven't heard from him since. Just now I left a voice message on their generic Service line.

But I can see elsewhere in this thread that I need to speak with a specific person at IA NA. But he isn't at AI anymore.

I was not pouncing on AI's service, but trying to see if my current direction was going to yield results. I'd look into getting a mag catch fabbed up, etc.

Elsewhere in the thread I see people suggesting I contact Mile High . They are a dealer, and like both dealers I spoke with referred me to AI NA.

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone. Sounds like this is the correct route, its going to happen when AI wants it to. So far it looks like I will have a single shot rifle indefinitely.

The part is cheesy IMO.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

Hey Jack! Yes its new --- I actually traded my GAP Crusader for it. I think I would go to hell for that, but I still have a GAP 260

It's a beautiful rifle. The Scope and rings shown here are temporary, I slapped them on for gun porn purposes.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

John

They are aware of your problem and I'm sure as soon as they get the message you'll hear from them. Myself and my customers love the AX chassis I've used for builds here, enjoy yours.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

Thanks Dave, we played telephone tag, but I think we're on track.

I really like this chassis. The ergonomics are perfect for me.

I may drop my GAP 260 Rem into one of these they are so good.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

One call to Patrick is all it will take. Let him do his thing.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

Thanks,

Nobody needs to throw me a pity party do they ?

By the way, somebody left an unclaimed AX SA chassis with Mile High. You better tell them you want it fast, or its going to go on my 260

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

FYI, AINA is a US company based in Fredericksburg, VA and the AICS has been made in the USA for the past 6 years. We have magazine catches in stock and you need to contact Eric Thomas who handles Service. If you call 540-368-3108, option 2 for Service as Dave Tooley suggested you will get Eric.
Stacey is no longer involved with AINA or Mile High.
Apart from anything else we would like to get your broken part back for analysis.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

This kind of thread sucks without a conclusion. AI had the catch in my hands today. It was installed in no time.

Actually the magazine is engaged very smoothly. The side feed works great for my 5 rounders. I'm sold on this chassis.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

A repeater chassis which is only operates single fire is broken in my book and basically out of service for its intended use.

Re: Broken AI AX Chassis

I did exactly as described and did not reach Eric. Read my postings here on the thread before you go any further.
Would you like to ask Patrick if he directed me to anyone else?
The answer is positively no.

Is it my responsibility to ask for someone other than who answers the phone when I ask for Service? I'm happy with the chassis, and the service I got. I'm a bit put off by you giving me directions on how to navigate your organization in order to get the help I need.

Do you really want the part for analysis? Nobody from AINA has asked for it except you. Did I need to ask for Patrick, Eric or you in order to learn AI wanted the part?

Now I'm off to find another AX chassis for me 260 Rem, though I might wait until the new version is out.
