Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Scumbag is right.

Details on the theft pls - home, range, vehicle etc?

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Broke into my garage shop sometime last night, grabbed the rifle that was in a camo case and my G Loomis tackle box with bass gear in it. I've already taken photos to local gun shops hoping it walks in the door. Just starting shooting it in matches, it has about 300 rounds on it.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Will keep an eye out in Ohio. It's more probable it will wind up here or ky then stay in indy.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Oh how I wish the punishments fit the crimes!

Hope you get it back intact and soon.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Hoping so too. You never know, not that many rifles like ours, kinda sticks out!

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Send me a pic and I'll look out for it. I hit all of the area pawn shops on saturday morning looking for weekly Repos on guns. I'll keep an eye out for you on the other side of the river!

You might call Whittaker Guns here in Owensboro. He sees a high volume of stolen guns. Talk to Chris or Darrel.

Yes but you probably couldn't get away with cutting their nuts off!

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Get me a pic brother. Elmore's up here would be a likely place for a custom rifle to end up. I'll forward it to them.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

I'll be on the lookout here too. We get a lot of traffic from up north involving firearms here.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Thats never a good thing to go through, I wish best of lck to getting your gun back. And the G Loomis for that matter.

I know what your going through knowing your rifle is out there somewher but not sure where. The good news is your correct not too many guns like that so if it shows up somewhere hopefully it raises flags for someone. Good luck and I hope she comes home safe where she belongs

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Best of luck. The recent recovery of one of our member's stolen rifles was most gratifying. I hope you get your's back as well.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Throw a pic up here, I'll keep an eye peeled up here in the northern part of the state.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

While I am just as outraged here as everyone else I do have a question....

Why wasn't the rifle secured in a safe or at least a security cabinet? I know I'm opening myself up to extreme hate flaming here but leaving it unsecured in a garage in just a rifle case might not meet the burden of "reasonable steps" at securing the rifle and leave you partially liable under current laws if it's used in a crime.

This is Indiana. We don't have ignorant, stupid laws like that to worry about.

A mans home is his castle.

The home was on private property.

The door was closed.

The door was locked.

At what point is the barrier between "right and wrong" established, let alone "upheld"?

Using your question in the reverse, maybe he's delinquent in NOT having a minefield around his house, preventing 'bad' people from accessing the building? Would that make it all better?

Simple question based on the regs we have to follow down here. Just what we have to deal with. If I had left my rifle in that same situation and it was stolen and used by a felon to either slaughter a mess of deer or even kill a person I would be held partially liable for not properly securing the weapon in my household. I didn't write the bill or sign it into law but I do have to live by it which really isn't a problem for me.

On the other hand since you want to go a bit overboard in a knee jerk reaction with the minefield comment... Are you really so naive that you think a locked door or a window is more than enough to protect YOUR firearms that you have invested your hard earned money into? I sure as hell don't and now someone here knows for a fact that it isn't. Criminals don't care if it's private property. If the weapon had been stored in a safe or sturdy security cabinet chances are this post wouldn't even exist.

Was the rifle case visible through a window? If that was the case it really wouldn't have been any different than leaving it in the back seat of a car in the driveway. There's plenty of instances here where people have gone to the extremes flaming someone for saying they leave a pistol in their vehicle. Why aren't they flaming this guy now or is it different because of the post count of the OP?

Guess you can chalk it up to the "Lessons Learned" mentality instilled by the military. Learn what you can from every situation. Hopefully a lesson was learned here. Now there is a felon in possession of a very expensive precision rifle. (If he wasn't a felon before he is now.)

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Get over yourself. What does it matter where the rifle was? It was stolen plain and simple. You dont know the fellow, or even the security level of his garage.
What difference would have it been if he stopped at a resturant or gas station on the way to/ from the range, hunting, or a match?

Furthermore, you can take the post count comments and pound sand. I made the post on behalf of my friend, who was a bit busy dealing with other shit.

To the rest of you- A big thanks for keepin your eyes open. Maybe with a little luck this rifle will get returned back to its rightful owner.

You, sir, are another symptom of the greater problem.

7mmRM, I hope the thief who victimized your friend is stupid enough to try and fence it close enough for someone to pick up on this and turn them in.

+1

So what I gather TX law says you have to have all of your firearms secured in a vault? That is the first I've heard of that. I was under the impression that only NY and CA had these shitty laws. Locked behind your doors should be all that is expected. I would challenge you to protect yourself with your weapons on lockdown.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Securing your weapons when you are not at home is responsible firearm ownership. Plain and simple. It's not us law abiding firearm owners that are the problem. It's the criminals that don't give a shit about your property that are.

My weapons are not on lockdown when I'm at home. They are when I leave.

How am I a symptom of a greater problem? I really am curious about that.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Seriously? This again? Just stop posting in this thread. Forget it even exists. Take the moral superiority bullshit somewhere else.

1. You don't know what level of security is in his Garage i.e. alarm, vault, etc. Having a safe does not necessarily make your weapon more secure but simply means the thief needs an additional 2-3 minutes. For all you know he was leaving the following day for a match ergo it was in a case ready for transport. Either way I highly doubt you can lecture anyone as to what their security is when I'm sure given the looking glass turned your direction we could bring objection to whatever false security you may have.

2. You came on to a thread intended to inform others of a firearm theft and felt the need to inadvertently lecture others in a righteous tone amidst their unfortunate circumstances. Basically you kicked a guy in the balls after he just had a hernia. Having your weapons on "lockdown" doesn't qualify you as a responsible gun owner necessarily or a law abiding one, as does not having a weapon secured in a vault doesn't qualify someone as being irresponsible or a law breaker.

3. Your the problem in that your condescending and righteous post you assume others others to be irresponsible and vocalize such which give credence to those who would choose to over-regulate and/or remove our rights to firearm ownership, ergo... you are a symptom of a greater problem.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Broker, et al;

That is why I quit arguing with the idiot long ago. If it were to continue, we'd all be brought down to his level.

We're better than that.

Either way, our latest posts are simply 'free bumps' to alert of a fellow members loss. And for us to keep our eyes open.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

7mmRM, can you get some photo's to post, I'll keep my eyes open around here in Central Ohio as well. Good luck with helping you buddy get is gun back. I'd hate to be in that position. I have a 260 that just works for me and I'd hate like hell to loose it to some idiot.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

OP, it sucks to lose a gun. Get some pics up so people in the area can keep an eye out for it.

And dont let the peanut gallery get to you. THey are the reason why this country legislates everything, because self accountability is becoming a thing of the past.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

I posted on another forum and asked the admin to blast it on their company social media. Hopefully this thing gets found and returned.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Put the info in my phone, and will keep an eye open for it at next Dayton, Ohio gun show......

Did I miss a picture of the missing rifle? I'm just an hour west of you and will keep my eyes open if I know what I'm looking for.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

I am going to 2 gun shows tomorrow. I will keep a eye out.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Ill keep an eye out. It will have to go along ways to catch my eye but none the less. also because of this post when I get home Im pretty sure Im in for the landmines. I had my Kahr p380 stolen from my car not too long ago. I sometime do get fed up with this world.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Any chance you can get a serial number of the stock? Incase it gets parted, because those A4s with the deep rear hook are pretty rare.

Re: STOLEN RIFLE ALERT!!!! EVANSVILLE, IN!!!

Ser# on a stock? Unless he put the rifle ser# on it since bedding. I bedded it, and didnt put a numbers anywhere. Its not an old style A4, with the long hook.
