Ok. I've had it with my old Lyman 1200. Not sure if I want another electronic system again either. Should I get a Cm 1500, or a good beam scale, & trickler. Is the rcbs 10-10 a good scale now that they're made in Mexico? If not then what beam do you recommend for a reasonable price. Promethius is out of the question.
    Thanks.

look up scott parker if you want a good beam scale he has tuned redding's for about 160.00 i think. according to scott the 10-10 made in mexico are not as good as the old ones and can not be tuned. he will also tune up the 5-10 if you have one his email is [email protected] i think or do a search in here for scott parker or scales

Thanks for the info. I googled him, & mailed the check today. Getting a trued 5-0-5 from him. Good guy.

No brainer, get the CM1500. I have both the Lyman 1200 and the CM1500 and the CM1500 smokes the Lyman.

Am I missing something here? I've got a Lyman 1200 and love it. I've had no problems with it at all. I load every thing from handgun to 50 BMG with it. I've also got Belding and Mull along with an RCBS regular powder measure. I used the Belding and Mull for my rifle shooting and also used a Universal progressive machine for Silhouette compitition back in the 1980s when I was active in the game. So tell me what the problem is with the Lyman 1200?

Re: Replacing my Lyman 1200. With what?

When my Lyman 1200 was new it worked fine. Calibrated it after the warm up, & it didn't stray at all. As time went on it has been getting a little tempermental. Lately it won't hold zero for more than a minute or two, & I have to re zero, & I now have to recalibrate it every few minutes. Im done with this thing now, & just ordered a trued 5-0-5 from Scott Parker. I'll be happy to go back to the old school way of doing things again as long as I don't have to screw with this electronic scale any more.

If you hit the lottery get a 1500 Green Machine and set it to throw 1/10th light then throw the charge on the tuned Parker scale and trickle up with a few taps on an electric Omega powder trickler.

Very fast and precise plus it's nice to have another back-up scale for a double-check.
